I am listening to this at work and I honestly have a lump in my throat. As a lifelong Episcopalian, I find this music refreshes my soul -- and I need that right now. I always enjoy your programs. I wish I had money to send you. Please know I always pray for you.

THANK YOU for recording and posting this ! It takes me back to the formative years of my Faith... and yes, we still called it the "C. of E." here in the United States back then. We had the best of church music and the grand hymns, all the Anglican Chant and canticles, the beautiful language of the BCB, the vestments, the incense, the bells and all the best altar practices. Almost all trashed in the last quarter of the last century, replaced by agendas and incipit ditties for church music and bishops festooned like peacocks. People left in droves. THANK YOU for giving me a window back into the good days of high style worship, which made me the person I am today. Your TH-cam presentations will surely be life-preservers thrown to some struggling souls, floundering on the rough seas of this present world. God Bless you and the people of your Cathedral. Hold high the Faith.

I miss the detail that the old hymns had. I grew up reformed Presbyterian and our church had the pipe organ; we sang to these every week.

Richard, I hope that you don't get bored when I say that this is your best production yet, bored because I say this every time you issue a new recording. Your recitals and Virtual Church became a lifeline in Covid times, and now that we are meant to be out of Covid , it is still a lifeline. This is a wonderful recording of the best of Easter praise, in a wonderful place. How can we thank you enough for all that you do to enhance the quality of our lives.

Magnificent place, magnificent instrument, magnificent music making! Greatest of all are the deep meaning and foundational truths in the words in the sub-titles. If one carefully reads and ponders these Easter hymn texts, he/she will know what Christianity truly is at its core. Christianity is a Person! I will try to sing along the next time through ; the first time I'd have been too overcome with emotion. Needless to say, I didn't get this kind of Easter music in my little church this year. Thank you.

I especially enjoyed hearing the Healey Willan which I have played many times. We 'claim' him as Canadian! I'm curious about playing in sock feet. In Canada, that is most definitely frowned on. I wore out my first pair of organ shoes after about 25 years... and sadly, the 2nd pair has not got the same amount of use.

The only Cathedral organ I have played properly when I was a younger. I was a reasonable player but painfully shy. I went with the Kent Organists Association. They said to me: Matthew if you don't play this now you will regret it so I plucked up the courage and improvised for a few minutes. The old girl drew me in and I forgot about the other people. You can tell it is a Father WIllis a mile away. It is very similar to your Lincoln recording. I have not been to that Cathedral but it seems to have a bit more reverb than Salisbury from the sample set. Anyway I'd love the chance to play her again. I go to a Reformed Baptist Church to worship now but I still get to Choral Evensong often. I went to the Cathedral School and the place has been there all my life: thanks Richard. Sadly I have let the organ go (problems of practice access) but still play the piano. I should take steps to try and play the organ again. In my 20s though I didn't do any grades I got lessons from Paul Morgan when I was at Exeter Uni and had access to the Harrison and Holy Cross Crediton. I got to quite a good standard: halcyon days...I'm in my 40s now.

Hi Richard, Caroline, Hugo and cats!🤗
Hi everybody in the BIS community!🤗
Hope you all had a great easter!💛🐣💒
Easter was a bit chaotic for me, so I was a bit sad I was only able to join live at the start of the week.
Catching up now though, and listening to Richard playing and reading the chat makes me smile!😊
Richard and Caroline you have created such a loving community, it warms my heart! Thank you!
    ❤🙏
I really enjoy hauptwerk, to hear a real organ though with the oomph and acoustic is awesome. I really loved this organ. Richard's playing is also music to my ears!😘
Very cool to hear at least two hymn, that I know very well in Swedish, Jesus christ is risen today, and Love's redeeming work is done. Also discovered a new favorite The Green blade Riseth and love the piece at 47:32!
Thanks to the Salisbury Cathedral for the footage and whoever made it. It was spectacular! Greetings from Gothenburg Sweden!

Ah, simply wonderful on so many levels. Thank you for this compilation bringing the light of Christ into a time of darkness, the light of the coming resurrection into the anguished wait and struggle, warm music into a tenebrous cold of an autumn night, winter rolling in. An inspiring program. Thank you so much. The drone visuals are stunning, I'm glad you included them.
I'd have loved to hear Handelian grace notes aplenty in Maccabeus!
On an LP I have of an RSCM massed choirs gathering in Liverpool Cathedral, in the hymn: Jesus Christ is ris'n today, the lwords: like him we rise, are sung rallentando, with a lengthening of the last word. The effect is so dramatic yet musical.
    Happy Easter from Australia.

Excellent video as always! I've been using the Salisbury sample set in Hauptwerk on my current setup. What amazes me the most is how close Hauptwerk gets to the real thing. I'm sure it's a different experience playing it in person but just by listening to the recording you might as well could have recorded it in the BIS music room and it would have sounded just as good. Thank you Richard for sharing this wonderful selection with us! Happy Easter!

It is always amazing in which context individual melodies appear - "Christ the Lord is risen today" is obviously about the resurrection - in the German counterpart "Herr ich bin Dein Eigentum" the content is that you are God's property and that he leads you to the goal of life.
