You can get the Beast Claw from an invasion style NPC roaming just Southeast of the first site of grace. His combo attack hits like a freaking truck and he attacks pretty fast, I absolutely got caught off guard and floored the first time I fought him lol.
Hey within the first 5 or 10 minutes you can get the Blacksteel great hammer as a drop from the black knights if you follow the south east path. I just noticed you didn't mention it. It's nice for guard counters. Thanks for the vid.
@@coldven0m Head into the trees and you'll hear a loud whistle/screech. That's him. He is not an invader but a wandering NPC that sort of just walks around that area. He is sometimes hard to see in the grass.
@@M4ri09999 yeah they are a bit too spiderlike for my liking and i feel you EXACTLY, past my first playthrough i always just farmed 2million soul memory to go to the castle instead of doing the spider town, and that bloodborne room was sprinted through with the camera pointed down
So far as I’ve found, there’s a whole underground ruins segment filled with the bastards; they don’t do my arachnophobia any favors, especially the giant one lol

My first two weapons were the Beast Claw from the savage NPC south east of the starting point and a big great hammer from the knight wielding it in a church a bit further east from the Beast Claw, next to the Seed.

Doing a no levelling run (started vagabond but basically a rl1 run). And I just had an awesome moment of realisation on how good the spread crossbow will be for that. Never spending runes and in need of burst DPS. There's enough early mohg kills to make that viable as well
You can get The black knight great hammer right away when you enter the dlc, just go right and follow the road until you reach a church, there's a black knight there. Once killed he will drop his hammer, it's a strength faith hammer, but it has a special guard counter attack that's like marikas hammer. Also it seems like when you put it to the sacred affinity it's damage is boosted even more than normal
Shadow of the Erdtree is fantastic so far. I’m taking my time with it trying to explore everywhere I can. I’m going to go back for the weapons you mentioned. I have the backhand blade which is fantastic. The AoW can make it easy to evade attacks, get behind your enemy, and initiate your own offense.
I'm gonna switch my build from the Tower Knight to an original one I just thought of called the Flame Dancer. Firespark Perfume Bottle on left hand, Backhand Sword on right hand, dual wield the swords and infuse them with a flame art, then use the firespark on occasion for extra fire damage. Maybe wear some lighter armor, like robes or something, and add a seal for fire incants.
Hearing you describe the pata with that much emphasis made me laugh. I just didn't expect it. This dlc has been great so far, and I highly suggest to everyone that had played a lot, to try out one of the new weapon classes. They're all pretty fun. Good luck out there folks, because everything in the lands of shadow hits hard enough to hurt you in real life
no black steel greathammer? love that thing, gets an inbuilt sacred ground guard counter that does stupid stance damage in an aoe, in addition to being normally infusable, has 3 scalings by default so you could push 4 with a quality build or just go A strength scaling with fire infusion dealing bonus holy damage, easily obtainable with a 1min ride from the dlc entrance, it was an instant +25 for me
There's a set of beast claws you can get just right of the first grace in the DLC walking around in the forest. You gotta fight someone who has them on but once you kill him you get his weapons. Ive been using them so far and they're pretty fun
If you go in the woods to the right of the first grace, there is a guy patrolling the woods. It's not a soldier, its like a wild man but, after you beat him, he drops claw weapon
Forgot repeating crossbow, you can drive by on Torrent to get it in the second area, take a couple minutes to get it when you unlock DLC if you know the route
theres also the black steel great hammer from the black steel knights that wield them. it dropped from the first knight i saw, and with 40 str 50 dex and 70 faith its amazing. good moveset and you can change the ash of war - i have it with faith scaling and sacred order and its been great so far. also the unique guard counter is great for locking down enemies to slam with jump attacks + buffs + mimic tear. i slammed relanna in about 3 tries and dancing beast in 5!
I accidentally maxed the horned great sword before realising I didn't like the lack of stagger. I have most of the other weapons on this list might try them out in early lim grave before risking investing in another one. The great Katana looks really good.
If you want to grab some of these very early on in a playthrough are there any that would lock you out of a dlc side quest to run in and grab and then return to the base game? Conversely will you lock yourself out of any base game content by entering the dlc section early?
I’m definitely going for the Great Katana and Pata first. Maybe some of those backhand blades 🤔😃👍. The Pata does look fantastic. I have been thinking of going fist weapons. Initially the weapon reminded me of Deadpool’s weapon in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

I'd argue the anvil hammer is not 10 minutes from the start of the dlc. You basically gotta clear a mini dungeon to get it, possible if you know the whole level and sprint it but only then
Took me 1 minute into the dlc to get the Curseblade Cirque. I just killed the enemy and it dropped first time. I was really hoping it was a guaranteed drop
The Blacksteel Greathammer and Beast Claws can also be picked up if you head right after entering the DLC. An NPC in the woods will drop the claws and the hammer you can get from a knight that is in the ruined church at the bottom of the waterfall. The hammer seems like it will be really good for Guard Counter builds.
JUST SO PEOPLE ARE AWARE: the curseblades cirque is near useless for rellana specifically, as there is currently a glitch where the weapon will bouce off the ground as if theres a wall in front of you, stunning you for a second if you REALLLY want to use it its still possible, but it makes it harder
I fought a npc in the very first area called Logur the Beast claw. Clearly an homage to Wolverine aka Logan. Looks just like him. But he drops the beast claw weapon. Wolverine style claws.
Played two hours last night, did the first mausoleum and the great jar dungeon and explored for a while. Got a bunch of weapons and armour to try today. Running Ruins Greatsword at level 165 and nothing has been a problem at all so far. Could use a little more direction early on I think. Are they enough upgrade mats to try weapons out? Any good new greatshields?

Thanks for the tip, I did know the horne dswords could be dual wielded, I have killed a total of 1 horned knights, I feel lucky for having the sword now. So im playing for the first time, both games, faith/dex for the most part but I started learning sorcery after entering the mountain of the giants.. & I started playijng the dlc right after I killed the fire gaint & burned the erdtree. levling my int & mind now so I can just use the moonblade, cause these bozos be strong & moonblade is the only thing that hurts them
I tried the mushroom crown and armor and it didn’t do anything. Unfortunately if you want to use the special for the poison spray perfumer weapon it is guaranteed to poison you. However I haven’t tried it with different stats then my character (who is an intellect and faith build.) just thought I’d share my experience with those weapons😆😊
these are all great but i generally find that most weapons and most weapon arts are useless if they don't stagger enemies, which is most of them. otherwise there just aren't enough openings on the majority of enemies. therre are so many cool things i'd love to use but they just aren't practical
Well, right in the beginning, there's the Blacksteel Greathammer. If you do a holy infusion on those, not only the faith/holy scaling will be quite absurd, but your guard counters will be something that you'd see *Radagon* doing

same happened to me and i ended up beating him. beast claw is incredible.
Not to mention the what i assume is some kinda alarm crow scaring the shit outta me when i got near that area and alerting him

Fun fact. The Great Katana’s light attack combo is the exact same as the long sword light attack combo from the Monster Hunter
Fun fact: you can actually wield the perfume bottles together and use LB/L1 to do a combination attack with both.
Backhand blades ash of war doesn’t do crit damage, it’s meant to work like a shotel and reach around enemy shields.
You can get the black great hammer from those black inights as well there are a bunch of those you need to farm them

Beast claw is south of Scorched Ruin in the jungle, as long as you can kill the npc. Pretty dope weapon, fulfilled my bloodborne desires

9:35 not showcased in the video but you can powerstance/dual wield the perfumes like the backblades and pata. Theyre paired.

Your missing the point. The Mushroom Crown boosts attack if anything, including yourself, is currently suffering from poison or rot.

How're you doing the flips I can only get the downward slashes with the great katana?
