I was able to get three great sized browns on the Ogden this morning. Using a Chernobyl ant and size 16 olive caddis nymph. You're right know the hatch and keep it simple. Two boxes with precise flies is a good idea! I have heard the black UFO midge is great on the Provo

Hi that show really must have rung true with so many anglers! I’ve got about ten fly boxes which I regularly take out with me each time I go fishing. But I am going to use your approach and see if works for me. I listen to your show regularly in the UK and enjoy the humour mixed with information
Thank you for all the hard work you put into making the content. Regards David

I really appreciate it, thank you. And I'm stoked to hear from someone across the pond! We have a surprisingly large audience over there.

did you look at your line after the fish broke off? Did you see a curly pig tail or a broke end? Curly pig tail = your knot was the problem. As Spenser said try 7 turns. Wet your knot and cinch it up
tightly with a little speed. Make sure all the wraps look nice and are tight. Before you cut the tag end hook the fly to a key ring and pull on the knot, just to make sure it is snug and tight. Then cut the tag. the Orvis " knot" is another good knot. you may also want to learn the nonslip loop knot. good luck, good knots and tight lines

I only ever have tan, dark brown, and olive. I haven't needed to go too far off that.

Old-guy DNA? Really. I've been a fly angler since 1965, and it's a good thing I have Old-Angler DNA. Experience is key. I've fly-fished all over the world, my favorite places are off the coasts of Finland, Norway and Sweden anywhere in the Great Barrier Reef. Fly fishing isn't only about trout and salmon, I suppose for beginners it could be, but there's a lot more action catching a small pike or small mouth bass than there is on a standard sized trout. And let's face it, tossing a tandem fly with your 9WT, your back to the wind, for Great Trevalli or Barramundi is a lot more exciting than the standard freshwater fish you catch on a 5wt. Using your imagination on what you target can be great fun!
