I may be having trouble with the catch because two gourds do not fit in my hand at the same time. My palm is 8 cm wide, and the pair of gourds span 10 cm. I can barely catch it with my pinky, and then it usually slips from my grip. Are Asalatos made in different sizes? Or should I just keep trying to adjust my catch with the ones that I have?
I recently bought some asalato from ebay. Their non adjustable, and they were 10 bucks a piece. They feel kinda short, will this effect me while learning?
Any chance you can make a video on how to do the rhythm that consists of an extra click after the catch? I saw Daniel Waples do it while he plays a hang drum, very cool but I can't seem to figure it out
Thanks Frauchor! I made this video for one of my friends request. Currently trying to make videos that goes over the basics. If you have a good idea or a request, let me know!
I have about 50 Asalato so kind of hard to answer your question. If you want to make it heavier, buy some small beans and fill the Asalato up with shakers. It makes a good shaking sound and also makes it heavier.
I think that what I need is smaller diameter gourds. My pair of gourds, side by side, is almost 4" across, but the palm of my hand is only 3" wide. With the stationary gourd in place, only half of the swinging gourd fits in my palm, and with a tenuous grip.
I just can't seem to catch the shaker when it comes back down. There's just not enough room or time for my ring and pinkie fingers to grasp it when it comes back around. The top shaker takes up most of the space in my hand. I can only barley manage to do it when I elevate the top shaker with my index and thumb, but that just results in the shakers hitting my thumb (painfully.) Maybe my hands are just small? Any tips?
Thane hey there. I know this is an old comment I’m replying to. But if you check out amazon right now I think you can find asalatos in different sizes.
So many different players on youtube just brilliant to check them out. You are really good 🤯🤯🤯
