Try explaining to your spouse that being faithful just means saying you love them regardless of who you're having an affair with. That kind of faith is an abomination.
Obedience is not a requirement for justification, but rather it is part of our sanctification. We are saved by Grace, through Faith. No where else does it mention that we add works. The thief on the cross who chose Jesus could do no works with his faith, and yet he was saved. This video complicates salvation.
The problem with that conclusion about the "thief on the cross" is that it assumes he was still a "thief" while on the cross. This assumption when considered has far too many flaws. The thief, before he went to the cross, was in jail. He was put in jail for obviously being a thief initially. However, the time he spent in jail, he was not out there stealing and or looting from others. When a person is in jail, they are serving a sentence for a crime. In the midst of that sentence, there are those that find a place of repentance for the sin(s) that landed them there in the first place. Not every person in jail remains the same person they were that landed them in jail. A person can do some simple research and see how convicts change while in jail. Not all of them, but some. To assume the thief on the cross was still a "thief" on the day he was put on the cross is a huge assumption and misses what actually occurred given what we see in the text. The thief on the cross, unlike the other convict on the cross, had experienced repentance. You can tell this by his reaction to Christ, he obviously either heard about Christ and or knew enough to see who Jesus was. He did not die a thief, he had repented of it prior to his time on the cross and its seen by his reaction and his words as I stated. Also, no where in the text do we see that the thief had no prior knowledge of the coming of Christ, pretty much all of Israel knew of the coming of Christ but their faith was not related to what Christ was and the promises to follow him, but rather WHEN and WHO Christ was. They all were looking for this coming of the Christ but their faith, as I said, was related to the WHEN and WHO. In our time, its now related only to the WHO Christ is because the WHEN already occurred and we believe that by faith and even by historic evidences now. So the malefactor as the gospel of Luke better puts it, definitely knew of the Christ but had no faith until he saw the Christ, that is Jesus and confessed it. To say that he could do no works with his faith doesn't add up to the text since it was not a lack of faith in Christ for all of the Jews were aware of the Christ but had no faith in regards to the timing and who it was. This is why Paul, as shown in the bible, was persuading people with the evidence at the time that Jesus was the Christ by showing it with the scriptures why he was the Christ. Furthermore, one need only read Paul's letter to the Corinthians to understand a simple truth. Paul tells us who will not inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. See that? Thieves will not inherit the kingdom of God. So its obvious that this man WAS a thief and was put in jail for being a thief, but he did not die a thief. He also did NOT die as a "believing thief." Let's definitely not go there into such deception. But rather he died in a state of repentance. Now people also want to be quick to say that the thief didn't have any "works" as though there wasn't anything good he could do as though his time in jail was just a place of limbo where no good could happen. This is obviously ridiculous and careless in thought for a person to think that there is no good thing to be done in jail for a convict as though it were just some void place destitute of anything and everything good. A simple TH-cam search can show the good that convicts in jail can do. There's a video of convicts helping to save a guard's life from other convicts and countless other good works while they are in jail. So case in point, the thief did not die a thief and we don't necessarily need to read what happened in his life while he was in jail to understand that he did not remain a thief at heart based on his response and reaction to Christ on the cross. This does not take any scholar or anyone special to see and understand. It only takes an honest person who is not seeking to excuse and make room for sin in their life and other's lives.
@@Miguel09z It’s irrelevant bringing up the way a person changes in jail as it has nothing to do with what I said. There is nothing wrong stating he was a thief as the Bible mentions the others being crucified with Jesus as “thieves” (or “Malefactor” - which is a criminal). What you stated doesn’t refute anything I said since the thief did not accept Jesus at first. If you read Matthew 27:44 where it mentions both the “thieves” (plural) were also mocking Jesus. He had not accepted Jesus at that point. So, no, there was not time for him to do some good deeds while in jail if he was still against Jesus at the time he was on a cross. Until someone accepts Jesus as Savior, then that person will be in their sins. Once a person has Jesus, then their sins are removed and we then have Jesus’ righteousness. This is a Christian's justification. Your claim if a person who doesn’t understand your view is seeking a life of sin is completely foolish. Nowhere did I say we seek out sin, what was mentioned, “obedience” is part of sanctification. Sanctification is us being more like Christ. You bring up a common fallacy regarding “sinners don’t get into heaven” argument. If you are saved, you are no longer a sinner, so that argument doesn’t apply to believers. As I mentioned above, believers have Jesus’ righteousness which means the thief no longer has that sin. Jesus PAID that sin debt. So the verse you quote isn’t for the righteous, it’s for the unsaved. To state that you must do good works, whether in jail or not, is to take away the “finished” work of Jesus on the cross and claiming you have to do something for your salvation and not have Jesus alone save you. I trust in God’s works to save me, not my works. What you are claiming is unbiblical and causes great deception and confusion within the church, by doing so you are dishonoring God.

It rather shows your desire that there is such a thing as a "saved sinner." Your denial of patience in well doing as Paul puts it unto salvation, shows where your stance actually is. This video is wrong. Faith means believing and certain actions are its result but not faith itself. "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." (Hebrews 11,1) ice cream eating results in gaining weight but it does not mean gaining weight. If I tell you to eat an ice cream, Im not telling you to gain weight.

The reason we see so little of God's Works and God's Saving Grace is because we're too busy doing our own works. Who can do the Works of God without God in him doing all the work?
Wrong. "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." (Hebrews 11,1) Its simple believing. It is this kind of faith needed to please God. Faith itself does not mean obedience, but it results in it. Eating an ice cream results in gaining weight, but it does not mean gaining weight. Just because the ephesians did all kinds of stuff as a result of their faith it does not mean that this was what faith itself is and that the results thereof saved them. The belief that one is really only saved by faith differs from the belief that one is saved by faith and having to repent and living a better life. Only the first one causes us to produce the right fruits

Notice how the man could keep the whole Law except the Greatest Commandment ("Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind soul and Strength") No one has ever kept the Greatest Commandment besides Jesus Christ. Everyone is guilty of breaking the Greatest commandment. Not only that, but everyone has HATED the Lord their God with all their heart soul mind and strength. That's why Jesus was Crucified. Everyone HATED Him. And He died. And was buried. And God raised Him up from the Dead to forgive everyone for Hating Him. If Jesus is dead, so are we, because we hated the Perfect Life of God. But Jesus is raised so we can be Justified. And you and I are no different. That's why we can only be saved from God's Wrath by Faith in God's Grace. No one without the Free Gift of the Spirit of Grace from God can EVER obey the 1st and Greatest Commandment. You cannot Love God without the Love of God being given to you first. If God doesn't freely Give you his own Love, His Grace, you will NEVER possibly ever keep the 1st and Greatest commandment because you're already guilty of the whole Law of God.

Whoever here thinks they have turned to God, and repented of their sins, and has Faith in God, and is saved, without His Grace freely giving you all these things and His Grace working all these things in you (Repentance, Faith, Salvation), you have not turned, repented of your unbelief, or been saved. Until the Grace of God freely gives you repentance, Faith and Salvation, you don't have them or do any of them.
Faith in Christ gives us a clean slate so that we don't have that debt hanging over us as we go forward in obedience. Otherwise, no matter how righteous we become, the debt of our former selves is still unpaid.

Justification by faith is for cleansing of our former sins. We can’t go on disobeying God “by faith” and expect to be waltzed into heaven afterward. Unless we die immediately after our former sins are forgiven (on our death bed, or the thief on the cross, for example), we continue on in life and face various temptations. We’ll either choose to give into some of them or we’ll endure by taking the path of escape that God has promised to always provide. Christ is our intercessor for those who stumble and repent. Those who endure are approved, and those approved have the promise of eternal life and entry into heaven. One could easily argue that one approved by God and given to Christ will never lose that status, but it certainly does not refer or apply to someone that has merely had their former sins forgiven.

Yes. You’re not saved until you hate sin and sinning. No one who is Born of God continues sinning. And there is not a righteous man on earth who goes continually and never sins. But there are people on earth with Christs Spirit who do not continually sin, and if they do sin, they repent to Christ and are freed from sin and His Spirit lifts them back up to walk again in Holiness. Christ is not the Power to go on sinning without punishment. Christ is the Power to walk in Holiness, walking free of sin. And the Power of the Promise that any sin that remains in our flesh will be overpowered and removed when Jesus Christ returns without regard to sin to transform and redeem our mortal bodies like unto His Own.
I think you misunderstand the concept of Faith here. When Paul said that you are saved by Grace through Faith it means that we have to believe in the Grace that God has shown us through what Jesus Christ did on the cross. You're right in saying that Grace alone does not save because God's Grace is poured out unto all creation by the death of Christ on the cross, yet the world is not universally saved, as they need to believe in His death and Resurrection to be saved. However, (points 3-5) is our response in being saved. When we get saved, we start to turn away from the world and sin as the Holy Spirit gives us our new life and sanctifies daily, we also start to proclaim the name of Jesus to the world and finally get baptized. Points 3-5 are not pre-requisites to be saved, rather they are the fruits of salvation.

We are saved by faith from our former sins. That’s not the same as eternal salvation. We receive eternal salvation when we have shown ourself proven. God’s gift of grace gives us a clean slate, without which we’d have no ability to go forward in righteousness. After receiving salvation from our former sins, being born again in spirit, we are to go forth practicing righteousness to be approved. “ Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for *when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life* which the Lord has *promised to those who love Him.* “

I think it should be made very clear that Faith only is made possible by God’s Grace, without it we would still be dead in our sins. Having said that, the faith is “recognising” and trusting in the Grace that God has shown. And our response should be to joyfully live in a manner which glories Him.
I don’t believe this was an accurate exegesis of the scriptures posted. Indeed, grace alone saves - yet our reception to this grace is by faith. Baptism is not salvific, it’s an outward expression of your confession.
Don’t be absurd. By your own logic of using verses as standalone doctrine, “forgiveness alone” saves. For it is written, “ For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. “ Scripture says lawless people (people that don’t obey God’s law) are unstable and twist such things to their own destruction.

The thief on the cross didn’t jump down and get baptized, to enter the kingdom. But these false doctrines come from arrogance of men and not the Spirit of God . I agree completely. I just need clarification on one aspect. Baptism. When I grew up as a Catholic, I was baptized as a baby and told that it's necessary. When I was saved as a teen and became a Christian, it was stressed to me to do it thinking to myself that it is still necessary to be saved. In my adulthood as a Christian, I believe that baptism is a personal, willful expression that I'm already saved. So as I know the thief on the cross who was saved, didn't get baptized either as a baby or willfulness, I believe we are saved by grace through faith. I'm in favor of baptism, but don't think it's biblical for me to share the gospel to someone and stating that baptism is a prerequisite for heaven. Clarification please?

How have you come to believe what you believe? I genuinely believe that we can have unity through the Word. Hello my friend.. your logic is sound.. but it would help to have scripture to back it up, because you will get attacked with about 6-7 different single, cherry picked verses.. if you ever have any questions about verses you’re approached with that seem odd to you, feel free to reach out to me, because the Bible will never contradict itself.. water Baptism is definitely a command, and needs to be obeyed.. but it could never be a prerequisite for salvation.. otherwise, it would be up to the baptizer to grant or withhold salvation.. if you ever wonder about this, read Acts 10. Cornelius was saved and received the Spirit before he was ever baptized.. Also, with the thief on the cross, you have a great point.. some may try to tell you “that was Old Testament times”.. but Jesus died BEFORE the thief.. and Jesus never broke the law.. if He told the thief he would be in heaven, knowing he wouldn’t meet the “requirements” of the NT law, He would’ve been breaking the law

So, faith is a gift from God? So, hearing the salvation message without this gift still leaves me in an unsaved condition? I can't choose God without His gift.
Grace "alone" has t be said because as if the apostle Paul didn't say it himself people keep saying as you say. He says it over and over i his letters....not by works of righteousness but by His mercy...not of works...if it be work it no longer is grace and vice versa...and finally he tells them of we start in grace we grow in grace. Grace in the Apostle Paul's letters implies alone. That is in fact his whole argument Romans Galatians and Ephesians! We are in fact saved by grace which implies alone meaning there is no human Merit at the beginning at the middle or at the end of your life because Grace has Paul says is not Grace if you had any work to it because they cancel out each other. That is why he famously says in Galatians.... The only baptism that saves is to be baptized by faith by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ. Sono in a sense we are not saved by grace alone but by grace through faith and this faith is void of any work as Roman tells us but for him that work is not but believes on the one that justifies the ungodly his faith is counted for righteousness. we simply say grace alone and we shouldn't because it is understood the grace must be alone and apart from our works but so that people may understand that Grace is just that we have to say alone but it is grace alone through the vehicle of faith apart from works of of righteousness that we have done. as you can see Romans make the distinction. 1. him that works not 2. Without works simply beliefs 3. his faith that has no works is counted for righteousness why because God only accepts perfect work for salvation and that perfect work is found in the person of Jesus Christ who by the spirit offered his body in perfect obedience to the father and has now manifested the righteousness of God by faith apart from works as Romans tells us. James is simply wisdom literature to already saved people on how they can escape our father's judgment in this life and the one to come and how to make that Faith alive and a prophet to others. all of this is simply a teaching that Faith somehow always always produces works and this is not true we Must Be watchful because our faith may not produce any works if we let the cares of this life stop our growth in faith and we may end up not bearing the fruit that Jesus wants Witcher and holy and be filled with many sorrows in this life in the one to come when we lose what God had an eternity for us raining with him but our home and our son ship is secured by The Obedience of Christ and we will be with him forever because of his great love towards us

I agree with most of this video, and good job. But it should be clear that repentance is a change of mind, leading to conversion (new heart). less sin will be the consequence of being born again. with human effort (the flesh) we cannot cease from sin. It’s only if we walk by the Spirit. It can’t be our job to stop sinning because that would be impossible. We must be born again first and then good deeds will come naturally. Two other things I find important to understand: water baptism plays no part in saving you, it is a celebration of your new birth in Christ. The spiritual baptism that happens after faith is our salvation, causing someone to become a new creature. also Jesus Christ didn’t provide an atonement for our sins. The word “atonement” implies a temporary covering of sins through an animal sacrifice that reminded the children of Israel of their sins annually. What Jesus Christ accomplished is exponentially greater than those temporary sacrifices. He provided a propitiation, or ONCE FOR ALL forgiveness, which means He took away our sins in such a way that He chooses to remember them no more, treats us as if we’ve never done anything wrong, and we don’t earn more forgiveness by confession.
Scripture often assumes you know the difference between sin that leads to death and sin that doesn’t lead to death. God doesn’t command us to be perfect, and therefore obedience to his commandments don’t make us perfect. They are merely the bare minimum to qualify as a child of God.

I see the apostle Paul and the book of James as two sides of the same coin...how is a believer supposed to use God's commands? Paul was emphasizing faith over Pharisaical laws. James was emphasizing works (or as you say, laws of faith) over lawless/ungodly conduct by believers. What are your thoughts on that?

But isn't repenting in and of itself a work? My minister says we must repent and turn from our sins to be saved. He indicates that the repenting and turning is a work.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8). Since the Father never changes this means that everyone who has ever been saved has been saved by grace through faith. When we apply this understanding to Noah for example, we see that the Father's grace are His Instruction to Noah of the impending flood and how to escape it. We're told that Noah believed the Father and his faith was able to overcome what he believed to place his faith and trust in the Father by doing everything just as the Father commanded. Noah didn't add to, nor take away from any of the Father's Instructions and as a result he was saved. If Noah didn't believe and place his faith in the Father by following His Instructions, he too would have perished. This understanding comes from the Hebrew word, "Sh'ma", which means to "hear AND obey". After all, what good would it be to know the truth but not walk in it? This is the simple understanding that James is trying to communicate when he says: " You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone." (James 2:24) an understanding he received from Ezekiel 18. Salvation from our former sins doesn’t guarantee you won’t sin again, it merely gives us a starting point if we are serious about turning from sin. Eternal salvation comes after we are approved through obedience, that is, enduring temptation and taking the path of escape that God is always faithful to provide.
An alternate title for this video could be ""Grace by works" or "Grace through Faith?""... Grace isn't earned through works, but if one truly "believes" and has "faith," these will manifest in the way that they live their life. "Works" would merely be a byproduct of a life of true faith.

When a person is “saved”, no sin from their past counts again them - all former sins are washed away and they can stand cleansed before God. Unless they immediately die in that cleansed state, life goes on and they face temptations which they will choose to either give into or endure. For those that endure, they are approved. For those approved, there is the promise of eternal life and entry into heaven (eternal salvation). For those who give into temptation rather than endure, there is neither the promise of eternal life nor entry into heaven.

All I know is that when I try to do what is right, I fail, and God comes to me and tells why I failed to do right.... because I'm not Good. I'm Evil. And when I agree with Him and collapse at His feet, and He gives me Grace. And when I believe His Grace, He's pleased with me more than when I was trying to walk rightly myself. Of course He wants me to walk right. But not on my own. More importantly, he wants me to walk by Faith in Him, trusting His Grace, not trusting my sight or my legs or my strength or my own righteousness and power. We are saved by God's Spirit alone. His Grace alone. Because even the Gift of Repentance, Faith, and Salvation are all Gifts of His own Grace. I can take no credit for walking with Jesus. He says "Your faith has saved you" but we both know that even my Faith is a gift of His Grace.
And said faith isn't enough. Instead of worrying over grace, know you have it. Instead of worrying over faith, live in repentance and do works to keep it alive.

May I be saved by believing and holding fast to the Gospel Paul preached to the Church of God in Corinth? (1Cor 15:3-4) Please consider the following. Paul explained that the Gospel is the power of God to salvation in his letter to the Romans (Rom 1:16). In the same letter, Paul wrote that obeying the Gospel means believing it (Romans 10:16). Additionally, Paul explained to the Corinthians that baptism is not the gospel (1Cor 1:16). And as addressed above, he omitted baptism when he recounted the Gospel he preached as the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures in chapter 15 of his first letter to the Corinthian Church of God (1Cor 15:3-4). So if Paul preached faith in the finished work of our Messiah as sufficient for salvation, why is your message contrary to the Gospel Paul taught? Interestingly, Paul wrote to the Galatians that anyone contending for a different gospel other than one Paul preached is to be anathema/accursed/condemned/damned. Finally, how were 2000 people added to the church when they believed Peter’s message without being baptized in Acts 4:4? Notice, Peter and John were arrested while they were still speaking. There was no opportunity to administer immersion before those who heard the word believed and were added to the church. Does the Gospel have the power to save? Does the Gospel include baptism? Sadly, in today's world and in all walks of life, many are being taught that all one needs to do is believe and they will make it to heaven. Is this true? Absolutely not. The truth of this matter is “Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the friend of God," James 2:23. And the apostle Paul says, "They which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham," Galatians 3:7. But Abraham's faith was made manifest by his works. "Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?" James 2:21, 22. There are many who fail and will fall short of understanding the relation of faith and works that go hand in hand. They say, "Only believe in Christ, and you will make it to heaven, that we don't need to keep the law." But genuine faith will manifest obedience to God and His perfect law that is found in the Ten Commandments. Jesus had said to the unbelieving Jews, "If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham," John 8:39. And concerning the father of the faithful, the Lord declares, "Abraham obeyed My voice, and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws," Genesis 26:5. The disciple John, who dwells so fully upon love, tells us, "This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments," 1 John 5:3. Dont be scared, this video, like so many others, tie two concepts together and confuse them as one. The faith in Eph 2.8&9 is the gift given by God for you to believe and have confidence that you have been justified/reborn in Him and nothing can remove it or separate you from it. There is no works here, not repentance, not turning from sin, not baptism, just simply believing in what Christ has done for you on the cross and receiving/believing it. If this is you, you re saved from the penalty of your sin and as you grow in Christ and pursue Him the other things will come but not as staying saved/called but becoming a disciple/friend of Christ. Isn't Faith repentance? And isn't repentance a gift too? For it is written of Esau "he could not find repentance, though he searched for it with tears." And isn't Faith a gift of the Grace of God, and not a wage for working? Is repentance a work of man or of God? If repentance is a work of man, then it's a work that earns a wage. How much repenting can you do to inherit eternal life or the Righteousness of God? Who being evil can convert themself into the Light of God if Repentance its not a Gift from God? But if repentance is a gift, then it can be received thru Faith in God's Grace. Repentance is turning from your works, both "Good" and "Evil" and trusting fully in God's Works on the Cross, death, burial and resurrection. Yes we must repent to be saved. But what are we repenting of? We are repenting of ALL our works, both "Righteous" and "Unrighteous" and turning to the Gospel of Christ Jesus, trusting 100% in the Grace of God in Jesus Christ work alone. If we must work to repent, than Jesus was crucified for nothing. Why did Jesus have to die if men can just repent of evil works and do good works themselves? They cannot, because since Adam, we're all evil. We cannot do any good. Even our "Righteousness" is evil in God's eyes. But If God works in Us to will and to do His good pleasure, then it's all the Grace of God, thru Faith, which God works in us. Salvation is God working in us. Not us working for or in God. Repentance is turning from our works and trusting in God's Own Works. So Repentance, Faith, Grace, and Salvation are ALL the Gift of God, not works which we do, but works which God does in us.

You cannot have Faith without being first given a Promise. You cannot get a Promise of God's Grace by working or by your own faith in your own works. The Promise of God, the Promise of the Spirit of Grace is by DEFINITION, the unearned favor and gift of God. You cannot get the Grace of God by doing anything "good" or "evil". You cannot earn salvation. It can only be given to you freely as a Gift. If you try to earn it, you insult God's Gift.
They (the Ephesians/et all) were justified/spirit reborn/called/OSAS/gift through the faith given them (gift) by the grace of God so they would believe.

Paul was talking about the law that required works in contrast to the law that requires faith. Good explanation. I would only add that complete salvation occurs at the JSOC and is the very essence of scripture that so many get confused. The inheritance/KOG is earned by sanctification not justification per Acts 20.32/26.18. The whole of scripture is to qualify us to reign and rule with Christ in the Millennium through salvation of the soul (1 Pt 1.9, Heb 10.39, James 1.21).

Obedience is not a requirement for justification, but rather it is part of our sanctification. We are saved by Grace, through Faith. No where else does it mention that we add works. The thief on the cross who chose Jesus could do no works with his faith, and yet he was saved. This video complicates salvation.

The problem with that conclusion about the "thief on the cross" is that it assumes he was still a "thief" while on the cross. This assumption when considered has far too many flaws. The thief, before he went to the cross, was in jail. He was put in jail for obviously being a thief initially. However, the time he spent in jail, he was not out there stealing and or looting from others. When a person is in jail, they are serving a sentence for a crime. In the midst of that sentence, there are those that find a place of repentance for the sin(s) that landed them there in the first place. Not every person in jail remains the same person they were that landed them in jail. A person can do some simple research and see how convicts change while in jail. Not all of them, but some. To assume the thief on the cross was still a "thief" on the day he was put on the cross is a huge assumption and misses what actually occurred given what we see in the text. The thief on the cross, unlike the other convict on the cross, had experienced repentance. You can tell this by his reaction to Christ, he obviously either heard about Christ and or knew enough to see who Jesus was. He did not die a thief, he had repented of it prior to his time on the cross and its seen by his reaction and his words as I stated. Also, no where in the text do we see that the thief had no prior knowledge of the coming of Christ, pretty much all of Israel knew of the coming of Christ but their faith was not related to what Christ was and the promises to follow him, but rather WHEN and WHO Christ was. They all were looking for this coming of the Christ but their faith, as I said, was related to the WHEN and WHO. In our time, its now related only to the WHO Christ is because the WHEN already occurred and we believe that by faith and even by historic evidences now. So the malefactor as the gospel of Luke better puts it, definitely knew of the Christ but had no faith until he saw the Christ, that is Jesus and confessed it. To say that he could do no works with his faith doesn't add up to the text since it was not a lack of faith in Christ for all of the Jews were aware of the Christ but had no faith in regards to the timing and who it was. This is why Paul, as shown in the bible, was persuading people with the evidence at the time that Jesus was the Christ by showing it with the scriptures why he was the Christ.
Furthermore, one need only read Paul's letter to the Corinthians to understand a simple truth. Paul tells us who will not inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
See that? Thieves will not inherit the kingdom of God. So its obvious that this man WAS a thief and was put in jail for being a thief, but he did not die a thief. He also did NOT die as a "believing thief." Let's definitely not go there into such deception. But rather he died in a state of repentance. Now people also want to be quick to say that the thief didn't have any "works" as though there wasn't anything good he could do as though his time in jail was just a place of limbo where no good could happen. This is obviously ridiculous and careless in thought for a person to think that there is no good thing to be done in jail for a convict as though it were just some void place destitute of anything and everything good. A simple TH-cam search can show the good that convicts in jail can do. There's a video of convicts helping to save a guard's life from other convicts and countless other good works while they are in jail.
So case in point, the thief did not die a thief and we don't necessarily need to read what happened in his life while he was in jail to understand that he did not remain a thief at heart based on his response and reaction to Christ on the cross. This does not take any scholar or anyone special to see and understand. It only takes an honest person who is not seeking to excuse and make room for sin in their life and other's lives.

There is nothing wrong stating he was a thief as the Bible mentions the others being crucified with Jesus as “thieves” (or “Malefactor” - which is a criminal).
What you stated doesn’t refute anything I said since the thief did not accept Jesus at first. If you read Matthew 27:44 where it mentions both the “thieves” (plural) were also mocking Jesus. He had not accepted Jesus at that point. So, no, there was not time for him to do some good deeds while in jail if he was still against Jesus at the time he was on a cross.
Until someone accepts Jesus as Savior, then that person will be in their sins. Once a person has Jesus, then their sins are removed and we then have Jesus’ righteousness. This is a Christian's justification.
Your claim if a person who doesn’t understand your view is seeking a life of sin is completely foolish. Nowhere did I say we seek out sin, what was mentioned, “obedience” is part of sanctification. Sanctification is us being more like Christ.
You bring up a common fallacy regarding “sinners don’t get into heaven” argument. If you are saved, you are no longer a sinner, so that argument doesn’t apply to believers. As I mentioned above, believers have Jesus’ righteousness which means the thief no longer has that sin. Jesus PAID that sin debt. So the verse you quote isn’t for the righteous, it’s for the unsaved.
To state that you must do good works, whether in jail or not, is to take away the “finished” work of Jesus on the cross and claiming you have to do something for your salvation and not have Jesus alone save you. I trust in God’s works to save me, not my works.

Wrong. "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." (Hebrews 11,1) Its simple believing. It is this kind of faith needed to please God. Faith itself does not mean obedience, but it results in it. Eating an ice cream results in gaining weight, but it does not mean gaining weight. Just because the ephesians did all kinds of stuff as a result of their faith it does not mean that this was what faith itself is and that the results thereof saved them. The belief that one is really only saved by faith differs from the belief that one is saved by faith and having to repent and living a better life. Only the first one causes us to produce the right fruits

Notice how the man could keep the whole Law except the Greatest Commandment ("Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind soul and Strength") No one has ever kept the Greatest Commandment besides Jesus Christ. Everyone is guilty of breaking the Greatest commandment. Not only that, but everyone has HATED the Lord their God with all their heart soul mind and strength. That's why Jesus was Crucified. Everyone HATED Him. And He died. And was buried. And God raised Him up from the Dead to forgive everyone for Hating Him. If Jesus is dead, so are we, because we hated the Perfect Life of God. But Jesus is raised so we can be Justified. And you and I are no different. That's why we can only be saved from God's Wrath by Faith in God's Grace. No one without the Free Gift of the Spirit of Grace from God can EVER obey the 1st and Greatest Commandment. You cannot Love God without the Love of God being given to you first. If God doesn't freely Give you his own Love, His Grace, you will NEVER possibly ever keep the 1st and Greatest commandment because you're already guilty of the whole Law of God.

Whoever here thinks they have turned to God, and repented of their sins, and has Faith in God, and is saved, without His Grace freely giving you all these things and His Grace working all these things in you (Repentance, Faith, Salvation), you have not turned, repented of your unbelief, or been saved. Until the Grace of God freely gives you repentance, Faith and Salvation, you don't have them or do any of them.
Faith in Christ gives us a clean slate so that we don't have that debt hanging over us as we go forward in obedience. Otherwise, no matter how righteous we become, the debt of our former selves is still unpaid.

Justification by faith is for cleansing of our former sins. We can’t go on disobeying God “by faith” and expect to be waltzed into heaven afterward.
Unless we die immediately after our former sins are forgiven (on our death bed, or the thief on the cross, for example), we continue on in life and face various temptations. We’ll either choose to give into some of them or we’ll endure by taking the path of escape that God has promised to always provide. Christ is our intercessor for those who stumble and repent. Those who endure are approved, and those approved have the promise of eternal life and entry into heaven.
One could easily argue that one approved by God and given to Christ will never lose that status, but it certainly does not refer or apply to someone that has merely had their former sins forgiven.

Yes. You’re not saved until you hate sin and sinning. No one who is Born of God continues sinning. And there is not a righteous man on earth who goes continually and never sins. But there are people on earth with Christs Spirit who do not continually sin, and if they do sin, they repent to Christ and are freed from sin and His Spirit lifts them back up to walk again in Holiness. Christ is not the Power to go on sinning without punishment. Christ is the Power to walk in Holiness, walking free of sin. And the Power of the Promise that any sin that remains in our flesh will be overpowered and removed when Jesus Christ returns without regard to sin to transform and redeem our mortal bodies like unto His Own.
I think you misunderstand the concept of Faith here. When Paul said that you are saved by Grace through Faith it means that we have to believe in the Grace that God has shown us through what Jesus Christ did on the cross. You're right in saying that Grace alone does not save because God's Grace is poured out unto all creation by the death of Christ on the cross, yet the world is not universally saved, as they need to believe in His death and Resurrection to be saved. However, (points 3-5) is our response in being saved. When we get saved, we start to turn away from the world and sin as the Holy Spirit gives us our new life and sanctifies daily, we also start to proclaim the name of Jesus to the world and finally get baptized. Points 3-5 are not pre-requisites to be saved, rather they are the fruits of salvation.

I think it should be made very clear that Faith only is made possible by God’s Grace, without it we would still be dead in our sins. Having said that, the faith is “recognising” and trusting in the Grace that God has shown. And our response should be to joyfully live in a manner which glories Him.

I agree completely. I just need clarification on one aspect. Baptism. When I grew up as a Catholic, I was baptized as a baby and told that it's necessary. When I was saved as a teen and became a Christian, it was stressed to me to do it thinking to myself that it is still necessary to be saved. In my adulthood as a Christian, I believe that baptism is a personal, willful expression that I'm already saved. So as I know the thief on the cross who was saved, didn't get baptized either as a baby or willfulness, I believe we are saved by grace through faith. I'm in favor of baptism, but don't think it's biblical for me to share the gospel to someone and stating that baptism is a prerequisite for heaven. Clarification please?

Hello my friend.. your logic is sound.. but it would help to have scripture to back it up, because you will get attacked with about 6-7 different single, cherry picked verses.. if you ever have any questions about verses you’re approached with that seem odd to you, feel free to reach out to me, because the Bible will never contradict itself.. water Baptism is definitely a command, and needs to be obeyed.. but it could never be a prerequisite for salvation.. otherwise, it would be up to the baptizer to grant or withhold salvation.. if you ever wonder about this, read Acts 10. Cornelius was saved and received the Spirit before he was ever baptized.. Also, with the thief on the cross, you have a great point.. some may try to tell you “that was Old Testament times”.. but Jesus died BEFORE the thief.. and Jesus never broke the law.. if He told the thief he would be in heaven, knowing he wouldn’t meet the “requirements” of the NT law, He would’ve been breaking the law

Grace "alone" has t be said because as if the apostle Paul didn't say it himself people keep saying as you say. He says it over and over i his letters....not by works of righteousness but by His mercy...not of works...if it be work it no longer is grace and vice versa...and finally he tells them of we start in grace we grow in grace. Grace in the Apostle Paul's letters implies alone. That is in fact his whole argument Romans Galatians and Ephesians! We are in fact saved by grace which implies alone meaning there is no human Merit at the beginning at the middle or at the end of your life because Grace has Paul says is not Grace if you had any work to it because they cancel out each other. That is why he famously says in Galatians....

baptism in water is an outwardly expression of an inward truth that we are baptized by the Holy Spirit into Christ in the Inner Man and we are a new creation created in true Holiness by The Obedience of Jesus and not our own for by the Disobedience of one came condemnation so by The Obedience of one came justification by faith in his perfect work. The only baptism that saves is to be baptized by faith by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ.
Sono in a sense we are not saved by grace alone but by grace through faith and this faith is void of any work as Roman tells us but for him that work is not but believes on the one that justifies the ungodly his faith is counted for righteousness. we simply say grace alone and we shouldn't because it is understood the grace must be alone and apart from our works but so that people may understand that Grace is just that we have to say alone but it is grace alone through the vehicle of faith apart from works of of righteousness that we have done.

James is simply wisdom literature to already saved people on how they can escape our father's judgment in this life and the one to come and how to make that Faith alive and a prophet to others.
all of this is simply a teaching that Faith somehow always always produces works and this is not true we Must Be watchful because our faith may not produce any works if we let the cares of this life stop our growth in faith and we may end up not bearing the fruit that Jesus wants Witcher and holy and be filled with many sorrows in this life in the one to come when we lose what God had an eternity for us raining with him but our home and our son ship is secured by The Obedience of Christ and we will be with him forever because of his great love towards us

Paul was raised as a Pharisee, practicing the laws of works required by Pharisees. When he converted he preached against their laws of works, and upheld the law that requires faith instead! You’re calling God’s law bad as if it is a law of works.

I agree with most of this video, and good job. But it should be clear that repentance is a change of mind, leading to conversion (new heart). less sin will be the consequence of being born again. with human effort (the flesh) we cannot cease from sin. It’s only if we walk by the Spirit. It can’t be our job to stop sinning because that would be impossible. We must be born again first and then good deeds will come naturally.
Two other things I find important to understand:
water baptism plays no part in saving you, it is a celebration of your new birth in Christ. The spiritual baptism that happens after faith is our salvation, causing someone to become a new creature.
also Jesus Christ didn’t provide an atonement for our sins. The word “atonement” implies a temporary covering of sins through an animal sacrifice that reminded the children of Israel of their sins annually. What Jesus Christ accomplished is exponentially greater than those temporary sacrifices. He provided a propitiation, or ONCE FOR ALL forgiveness, which means He took away our sins in such a way that He chooses to remember them no more, treats us as if we’ve never done anything wrong, and we don’t earn more forgiveness by confession.

I see the apostle Paul and the book of James as two sides of the same coin...how is a believer supposed to use God's commands? Paul was emphasizing faith over Pharisaical laws. No, when James mentioned faith without works is dead, he was referring to good deeds. Doing good. That is aside from and in addition to “not doing bad”.
God’s laws of faith aren’t “works”, they instruct us that through faith we are not to do bad things. That’s not work.
It is a *work* of iniquity to sin (and the wage of sin is death). It is *faithfulness* in Christ when we do not work such sin ( and the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord )

But isn't repenting in and of itself a work? My minister says we must repent and turn from our sins to be saved. He indicates that the repenting and turning is a work.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8). Since the Father never changes this means that everyone who has ever been saved has been saved by grace through faith. When we apply this understanding to Noah for example, we see that the Father's grace are His Instruction to Noah of the impending flood and how to escape it. We're told that Noah believed the Father and his faith was able to overcome what he believed to place his faith and trust in the Father by doing everything just as the Father commanded. Noah didn't add to, nor take away from any of the Father's Instructions and as a result he was saved. If Noah didn't believe and place his faith in the Father by following His Instructions, he too would have perished. This understanding comes from the Hebrew word, "Sh'ma", which means to "hear AND obey". After all, what good would it be to know the truth but not walk in it? Salvation from our former sins doesn’t guarantee you won’t sin again, it merely gives us a starting point if we are serious about turning from sin. Eternal salvation comes after we are approved through obedience, that is, enduring temptation and taking the path of escape that God is always faithful to provide.
An alternate title for this video could be ""Grace by works" or "Grace through Faith?""... Grace isn't earned through works, but if one truly "believes" and has "faith," these will manifest in the way that they live their life. "Works" would merely be a byproduct of a life of true faith.

When a person is “saved”, no sin from their past counts again them - all former sins are washed away and they can stand cleansed before God. For those approved, there is the promise of eternal life and entry into heaven (eternal salvation). All I know is that when I try to do what is right, I fail, and God comes to me and tells why I failed to do right.... because I'm not Good. I'm Evil. And when I agree with Him and collapse at His feet, and He gives me Grace. And when I believe His Grace, He's pleased with me more than when I was trying to walk rightly myself. Of course He wants me to walk right. But not on my own. More importantly, he wants me to walk by Faith in Him, trusting His Grace, not trusting my sight or my legs or my strength or my own righteousness and power. We are saved by God's Spirit alone. His Grace alone. Because even the Gift of Repentance, Faith, and Salvation are all Gifts of His own Grace. I can take no credit for walking with Jesus. He says "Your faith has saved you" but we both know that even my Faith is a gift of His Grace.
And said faith isn't enough. Instead of worrying over grace, know you have it. Instead of worrying over faith, live in repentance and do works to keep it alive.

May I be saved by believing and holding fast to the Gospel Paul preached to the Church of God in Corinth? (1Cor 15:3-4)
Please consider the following.
Paul explained that the Gospel is the power of God to salvation in his letter to the Romans (Rom 1:16).
In the same letter, Paul wrote that obeying the Gospel means believing it (Romans 10:16).
Additionally, Paul explained to the Corinthians that baptism is not the gospel (1Cor 1:16). And as addressed above, he omitted baptism when he recounted the Gospel he preached as the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures in chapter 15 of his first letter to the Corinthian Church of God (1Cor 15:3-4).
So if Paul preached faith in the finished work of our Messiah as sufficient for salvation, why is your message contrary to the Gospel Paul taught? Interestingly, Paul wrote to the Galatians that anyone contending for a different gospel other than one Paul preached is to be anathema/accursed/condemned/damned.
Finally, how were 2000 people added to the church when they believed Peter’s message without being baptized in Acts 4:4? Notice, Peter and John were arrested while they were still speaking. There was no opportunity to administer immersion before those who heard the word believed and were added to the church.

Sadly, in today's world and in all walks of life, many are being taught that all one needs to do is believe and they will make it to heaven. Is this true? Absolutely not. The truth of this matter is “Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the friend of God," James 2:23. And the apostle Paul says, "They which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham," Galatians 3:7. But Abraham's faith was made manifest by his works. "Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?" James 2:21, 22.
There are many who fail and will fall short of understanding the relation of faith and works that go hand in hand. They say, "Only believe in Christ, and you will make it to heaven, that we don't need to keep the law." But genuine faith will manifest obedience to God and His perfect law that is found in the Ten Commandments. Jesus had said to the unbelieving Jews, "If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham," John 8:39. And concerning the father of the faithful, the Lord declares, "Abraham obeyed My voice, and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws," Genesis 26:5.
The disciple John, who dwells so fully upon love, tells us, "This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments," 1 John 5:3. This so-called faith in Jesus Christ which professes to release men from their obligation of obedience to God is not faith, but presumption. "By grace are ye saved through faith" (Ephesians 2:8). But "faith, if it hath not works, is dead," says the apostle James (James 2:17). Jesus said of Himself before He came to earth, "I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart" (Psalm 40:8). And just before He ascended again to heaven, He declared, "I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love" (John 15:10). The Scripture so plainly says, "Hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments" (1 John 2:3).
The condition of eternal life is just what it has always been, just what it was in the garden of Eden before the fall of our first parents which was perfect obedience to the law of God, perfect righteousness. If eternal life were granted on any other condition short of this, then the happiness of the whole universe would be imperiled. Sin will not be found in heaven. Satan was cast out of heaven for breaking the law of God and not repenting from it. Sin is a disease. It is an illness that will kill us unless we cry out to God in repentance, turn away from sin and give our life to God.
God and His children are at war with sin. What is sin? “For sin is the transgression of the law,” 1 John 3:4. Many profess that God has grace and He will forgive us even if we continue to sin. The Word of God says in Romans 6:15-16, “What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”

Dont be scared, this video, like so many others, tie two concepts together and confuse them as one. The faith in Eph 2.8&9 is the gift given by God for you to believe and have confidence that you have been justified/reborn in Him and nothing can remove it or separate you from it. There is no works here, not repentance, not turning from sin, not baptism, just simply believing in what Christ has done for you on the cross and receiving/believing it. If this is you, you re saved from the penalty of your sin and as you grow in Christ and pursue Him the other things will come but not as staying saved/called but becoming a disciple/friend of Christ. But if repentance is a gift, then it can be received thru Faith in God's Grace. Repentance is turning from your works, both "Good" and "Evil" and trusting fully in God's Works on the Cross, death, burial and resurrection. Yes we must repent to be saved. But what are we repenting of? We are saved by grace alone, apart from works so that no one can boast. Works here refers to our efforts, which is why it says so that no one can boast. Your effort adds nothing to your salvation. Otherwise you would be boasting that you achieved salvation by your assistance to what Jesus achieved on the Cross. It clearly says apart from works. You mentioned James, but James is not talking about the same topic that Paul is talking about. They are not both talking about salvation. Only Paul is talking about eternal salvation.
The problem is that many people misinterpret the New Testament on this issue because they are not starting with the correct foundation of salvation is by faith alone, which Paul makes abundantly clear in Ephesians 2. This Doctrine you believe maybe only covers Repentance which is death, and there are alot of dead Christians walking this Earth who have not been buried nor Resurrected and put on Jesus GALATIANS 3:27. ---No where in the Bible is it written to just say a 'sinner's prayer' and 'accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour' or 'once saved always saved' or 'grace alone through faith alone' to enter into the Kingdom of God. Paul was talking about the law that required works in contrast to the law that requires faith. You’re calling God’s laws bad as if they are in with the same atrocious laws of works the Pharisees upheld. Paul was raised as a Pharisee and obeyed those laws until he converted and began obeying the law that requires faith instead - God’s law!

Tell me how you're going to do the works of God, the works that Save, without the Free Gift of the Spirit of Grace doing the work in you... without God working in you BOTH to WILL and to DO His own good pleasure? Very good at cherry picking verses and out of context to push YOUR faith PLUS works belief...Justification is by FAITH ALONE...works are part of SANCTIFICATION and are rewarded at BEMA...no works = no rewards BUT STILL SAVED :)
Good explanation. I would only add that complete salvation occurs at the JSOC and is the very essence of scripture that so many get confused. The inheritance/KOG is earned by sanctification not justification per Acts 20.32/26.18. The whole of scripture is to qualify us to reign and rule with Christ in the Millennium through salvation of the soul (1 Pt 1.9, Heb 10.39, James 1.21).
