Yep, John John earned this season with victory and several runner up results in a variety of waves and conditions. He passed the test of Champion. To be subjected to waist high trestles for the trophy just doesn't feel right.
@@OldSurfDadtechnically Griffin is the only one based on total points who could catch John. If griff won it could still be a legit title based on point totals.

Yeh, I'm still trying to decide my picks for the WSL finals while looking at the surf forecast...it's not improving! Dang. Btw I saw your comment later (the Heisman of surfing) in context of our suggestion for crowning the new champion. Pretty epic. Wanted to give you credit for that. Sometimes hard to catch all the comments when I'm jabbering! Haha. Thanks for being part of the channel.
I would like to see the WSL utilise the Full 8 day waiting period.. in the last two finals days they ran in the first or second days of the waiting period! We’ve all seen the footage of the days after the comp which were pumping conditions.
I agree. I've seen them favor early days and weekends over best surf days at times. This season we had some really good swells at spots and scored (Tahiti and El Salvador come to mind), but the Finals forecast looks bleak no matter when they run.
Prediction: Caroline is going to go right, do 3 vertical snaps, tap the end and pump her fist for an 8.5. Paddle out and do it again and win the title. Caity will be left floundering doing cool loose turns and lose the title she’s ground out the year for. Hope I’m wrong, but the final event MUST be a regular event with regular points awarded or the history books will be forever screwed.
This is ridiculous spot and conditions the world best surfers on a skate park??? We really need another world league that make contests under critical conditions at spot with wave a consequences.
I'd like to start the Old Surf Dad league that has ten events per year at gnarly waves. Indonesia, J-Bay, Fiji, Tahiti, Morrocco, Reunion, etc. I'm looking for someone to fund it! Ha. Everyone send money. It will be great! Seriously tho. Agree, we need a focused league that crowns champions in worthy conditions.

Just watched Jacks heat😢it was 3 ft,WTF for the record I picked the finals perfectly.
