  • Le's look at three Communication Models: Transmission Model (0:22), Transactional (3:26), and Constitutive (8:02).
    The Transmission Model was first explained by Shannon and Weaver (1948 & 1949). The Transactional Model is partly from Paul Watzlawick (1967) and his colleagues as well as from Dean Barnlund (1970). The Constitutive Model was coherently explained by Robert Craig (1999).

    Thanks for this thoughtful and well-detailed explanation. I particularly appreciated your explanation of the Constitutive Theory. This latter particularly because there has been an effort to makes it a scientific discipline with the result that explanations of it are often loaded with verbose unintelligible jargon, that really means nothing. I really do not concur in the least that organizations and communication are identical entities. There are many other variables involved in the creation of an organization than mere communication. While communication is certainly a core feature, it is not the sole and exclusive component that creates organizations and to assert as much is indeed rather short-sighted.
