A guy in a bar heard me talking about cars, invited me to see his. We go out, it was one of these. He took me for a short ride, every time he upshifted, the whole front end of the car came off the road. This was in the mid-1970s. I'll never forget it. The only other car that wowed me like that was a Jaguar XKE because of its phenomenal handling.

Thank you for a wonderful film and a trip back in time. Your comment about the handling in the wet took me straight back 50 years to the day I swopped my Lotus Cortina for a TVR Vixen. I bought it from a pilot colleague in the RAF at Wittering and drove it home to Benson on a day which started out hot and sunny and ended in thunderstorms and heavy rain. In the dry the car was glued to the road and was such fun on country lanes and roundabouts. However, after several weeks of no rain, when finally it arrived it made the tarmac quite slick. So my first wet roundabout on the A1 was a sobering experience, as no doubt I was enjoying this pocket rocket a little too much and going a tad too fast and all too soon I had lost the back end and I was grateful for my rallying experience to exit the roundabout in one piece!
I took the car over to France for the Dunkirk commemoration event and we were parked up in Lille and drew quite a crowd of onlookers. As the car by then sported a beautiful metallic blue paint job, I am sure those folk mistook it for an Alpine Renault!

Beautiful car, I drove one 50 years ago. I still have the brochure I set for in 1964 or 1965.
( it was overhead valves, not overhead cams )...

This guy really doesn't know cars very well if he thinks the Ford 289 is an overhead cam motor. lol I would love to have one, but I think I would have to rob 2 banks to get one of these babies. Wish they made this into a kit car, but I have never seen one.

I have the Chimaera probably not the best T.V.R. to be had but the most popular i think ?? It is the best fun car I have ever owned/driven I ride motorbikes but now being the wrong side of 65
I spend more time in the T.V.R. than on the bikes because when you are on the older side and you fall off it hurts a lot more !!!! The T.V.R is as much fun as a bike in my humble opinion
because you get the sound the speed but in much more comfort !!! I would love a Griffith as they really are a classic within their own right and still look good as yours does infact yours
looks bloody great !! Nice balance not over done but just right Those wheels look superb as do the bonnet vents etc Nice up load and well presented Thankyou !!

REMEMBER THEY DID NOT MAKE MANY AND ANY BRITISH SPORTS CAR WITH AN AMERICAN V8 SITTING IN THE ENGINE BAY IS MAKING STRONG MONEY IE SUNBEAM TIGERS FOR INSTANCE, I HAVE AN OLD MAGAZINE FROM 15 YEARS AGO ADVERTISING A ROADWORTHY TIGER FOR 9K NOW LOOK AT THEM 50K PLUS FOR A DECENT ONE. The widest tyre In the '60's was 205, possibly 215/15 70's . ( fitted on Rolls Royce's). Low profiles were in their infancy.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas
station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions- and smoke crime :-( :-( :-(
