    About Dune:
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence-a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential-only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

In Japan, that's called bunbu ryodo (Literature and martial arts, both roads) or bunbu itchi, (more poetically, "Pen and sword in accord.") Also, in the books, Duncan Idaho said Gurney Halleck would beat him nine times out of ten. IMO, Duncan was a stylist and Gurney was a street fighter.

Here for my scene that’s stuck in my head with bagpipes. It's when Gurny just turns to his soldiers and yells “With me!” And the Atreides bagpipes start playing as they charge into the night. And then it cuts to one of the Harkanin ships getting shot down. And you just have this brief like fifteen-second glimmer of hope that they might make it through the night. And if they don’t, they are still going to go down swinging. I dragged my mother to see the movie with me and she can attest that I may have fist-pumped the air with how it all worked together. Writing, music, the cinematography. All of it's a work of pure art.

The film started in Germany today and I don't want to spoil the moment when the theme will be played (epic moment, I had goose bumps all over my body.), but for me the theme ( 5:28 ) sound more celtic than Mycenaen Greek. For me it's more medieval. Maybe also Scottish / English because of the sound of the bagpipes. It sounds like a medieval epic for an old noble house in a Sci-Fi story what underlines the timelessness of Dune's story. And whether the bagpipes of ancient Mycenae sounded like today's bagpipes can be questioned. Of course one can draw arcs to Mycenae, but ultimately, whether it is a reference to ancient pre-Greece or medieval Europe, it is a reference to old monarchist / aristocratic times in a sci-fi world that stands out and highlights political situation in the world of Dune expecially for House Atreides. And both ancient Mycenae as well as the medieval noble houses have perished. If the latter still exist, then only as sad billboards for tourism and gossip for the tabloids.

People should note that bagpipes aren't particularly Scottish: no one can be sure where they originated, but they're among the oldest of human musical instruments (after voice, flutes and drums/percussion) and were a natural musical innovation to goat- and sheep-raising societies in hilly and mountainous areas in prehistory.
Because of its remoteness, Scotland is among the LAST places in Eurasia where the instrument was introduced and popularized, though it remains their best-known modern "home" thanks to recent (though now fading) memories of the British Empire.

Personally, I don't interpret it as Paul and Chani's love theme in part 2. It's still the House Atreides theme but only taking the most primal instrument, the voice. Given that in part 2, all that's left of House Atreides are two people and perhaps it's a reflection of Paul thinking of building House Atreides again by finding love. Another reason why this might not be their love theme is because it's plays prominently as the Holy War began with the ascension of Paul as emperor but with a darker tone, perhaps reflecting Paul's feeling as House Atreides is turning into darkness.

And it definitely plays at the ending like you said. There's an interview (forgot if it was Denis or Hans) that mentions they play it not just because of Paul's ascension, but because Chani and Paul separate - something along the lines of them realizing they are lonelier without each other which makes their love more profound.

I know I am late to the conversation when I say this, but yes the bagpipes are the best part of this track. But the one thing that I feel like that isn't getting enough attention is the track's opening sequence [from 0:00-3:21]/the ending sequence [10:20-13:54]. It's so beautiful and so soft. IDK about you guys, but the fact that those two sequences aren't getting appreciation is a shame to me. I know how much I appreciate them.

You've made me wonder. I'm going to discuss spoilers for Dune and Dune Messiah.
Obviously Hans will build on this peice to an absolutely earth shattering crescendo to go with the Atreides and Fremen victory in arakkeen, I expect in unison with the breaching of the shield wall and the entrance of the worms, with additional crescendos to accompany the Atreides lieutenant dueling Feyd and then Paul himself dueling Feyd. However, how will he subvert this for Dune Messiah? Will we perhaps see a glorious turned horrific sequence of the jihad to open the third film? Perhaps the music will be what tells the thematic story of apparent victory hiding unimaginable bloodshed. I'm extremely curious about what will become of House Atreides in Messiah, perhaps the theme will remain glorious but become associated with the great and terrible as it began to be in Dune part 2. I wonder if perhaps something will be developed for the Fremen in part 2 as they will have a far greater focus in part 2 than in part 1 and instead that will characterise the crescendos of violence in the sequels.

To the people bringing up that the Atriedes are Greek, the bagpipes are still quite fitting as the oldest known bagpipes were found in Greece and the instrument since came to Scotland from there, so the use of bagpipes is double fitting. Now for an additional Scottish bit of flavour, the drum cadence beginning at around 7:35 is almost entirely identical to Highland Cathedral. I also really appreciate how the theme is often used in the movie with a small single bagpipe leading the theme before the rest of the band joins in, showcased both during the landing on Arrakis and particularly effectively during the last stand.

_Tenet_ may be a puzzle to be pondered but THIS, _Dune Part I,_ is an experience to be cherished and felt like a religious rite, again and again. I've revisited theaters seldom, and usually only once more to share the experience with those of whom I'm fond. I went to _Dune Part I_ FOUR TIMES. Once in standard, once with those interactive chairs that move, and once in IMAX...by myself. On the fourth time, I insisted my brother accompany, also in IMAX. I _LOVED_ Bladerunner 2049 as his favorite...until THIS.
I hope they re-release it in lead-up to _Dune Part II,_ that I might re-experience it at least one more time.

It's very unfortunate that those particular parts of this musical sketch were not used in the film. I'm sure everybody who will see this comment will be like, "dude, why are you writing the same thing?" But just hear me out!
The link above is a rendition of the opening sequence of this song by Hans Zimmer called "Foreword" from "the Art and Soul of Dune." Even though it wasn't used in the film at all [and I'm hoping that part 2 will include this portion of the track], it's one of the most soothing tracks I've ever listened too. Personally, I think it would be a very perfect fit within part 2 as a farewell piece!
If you haven't listened to this song, you need to give it a listen. It's such a beautiful piece to listen to, reflect on... and sometimes it gives me that lump in my throat because it's so emotional and spiritual.
