  • In today's video we will be visiting Phed Mark in Bangkok, Thailand. This restaurant is owned by the one and only @mark wiens and it is a restaurant that everyone must visit when in the city of Bangkok! We will be trying his famous Pad Kaprow, which is one of the most famous dishes and we will be trying it both with pork and beef! We will also be trying two levels of spicy so that you know which one to order when visiting Phed Mark in Bangkok, Thailand.

Kudos for Mark, I have been watching his food excursions for a number of years, Before the birth of Mica and while Ying was his camera woman. He is a very pleasant person and enjoy his content. He even ate at a restaurant a few miles from my location on the Jersey shore. in Asbury a landmark for over 50 years, Franks resturant on Main Street. The food is great and the decor is retro.

It’s pronounced pet not fed. In Thai pet mak means very spicy, so he’s done a play on words with his name and called it Phed Mark, so he’s essentially called the restaurant spicy Mark 👍

@@Travelwithchris Those are called "Prik Nampla / Nampla Prik" (What order the two words goes in is a highly debated subject here in Thailand lol. It depends on how your family calls it), and it's basically just fish sauce with chilis in it.
It's mostly made to be put on eggs, especially fried eggs, so when you poured it on the meat, my Thai soul literally screamed in pain lol.
It's very popular with "Tam Sang" or made-to-order restaurants, and you'll get a packet of it for almost every single dish when you order takeout or delivery.
P.S. "Ph" in Thailand as a transliteration does not make the "F" sound. The "h" just emphasizes that in Thai, the "P" sound is made with just a slightly more breath from your throat.

The duck egg the yellow is more darker, so the spicy of the food can still depend if you eat the chilly or not then, seems the level is based on the chilly they put in your food so the meal is not spicy at all? The red chilli is just added as indicator for the level of spiciness, 5 is level 5, they're actually not very hot themselves. The true heat is from the much smaller green chilli that is used in every Thai spicy dish.

We do not focus much on the chili when eating food. It is the overall taste of the dish, not how much chili you put in. Chilli is everywhere in Thai food, but we don't eat them all. The impression of chilli was communicated differently from how Thai people feels about it.

A food cannot taken into consideration of spicy or not by providing 1 to 5 whole chillies in the plate. Come to India and you couldn't able to find any whole chilli in the curries but the curries and the spices itself makes curry spicy..
But in this restaurant level 1 does have 1 chilli but level 5 has 5. So better you ask them for remaining 4 chillies in level 1 to make it extreme level. Why one has to choose between options when whole chillies count only differentiates between levels ...
    This doesn't makes sense 😕

Wow, you are so brave to be able to eat whole chilli because some Thai people still don't dare to eat like that. Awesome because the chilli you put in cooking is spicy enough. He puts it on a plate for people who want to eat more spicy. the chili fish sauce We will put it in order to season the salty taste better. if you are afraid of spicy Do not scoop chili in fish sauce. You can take only the fish sauce. When you eat spicy Thai food should have a soft drink Sweet water or dessert Eating can help reduce the spiciness.

I tried phadmark's lvl 2, almost passed out. Phedmark is not expensive at all because it uses much better ingridients. however, the taste is below avarage because lots of sugar is added, way too sweet.

Problem with chili is that whilst it's delicious and I personally enjoy the spice there is a line. That line is crossed when you can't taste the food.
