    Collected these when I was a kid. Think I have the whole set stored away somewhere.

    One of my fondest memories was collecting those cards during my high school year and still have all of them to this day

      Those were fun years for cards. The early mid 90's were that time in which inserts started becoming popular and common in sets.

    Just opened a box of these and got 5 of the dyna-etches, it was crazy. Also tried your trick for the bricked cards and it worked very well, thank you for that!

    The special etch cards spotlighted characters from the X-Men 2099 comic

      They are pretty cool. I think a lot of collectors would have like to see a few well known characters in the etch cards.

    Good stuff. One of my favorite sets. Keep in mind, these cards were produced when Marvel had a ton of cash to spend, so they hired a bunch of artists for this set after the success of Jusko's 92 MM set. The MCU wasn't a thing yet, so nothing had to be slid that way. They were trying to push the 2099 stuff as well, even with 93 MU, so those were the chase cards in both sets that year. Ultimately, these cards were commercials for what was going on in the comics at the time.

    Are the 2099 cards worth something I have nearly a full set of these and I have a full set of 1992 masterpieces and the animated series cards

      Most of the base cards aren’t worth a lot raw because there were so many of them produced. However if they were to grade a 10 then those could be worth 30-100+ dollars depending on the card and set

    what are the big hits to pull out of these boxes i was thinking about grabbing a box myself :)

      It’s not like the sets today. Really you are searching for great condition cards that might grade well if you are looking at it from a hit stand point. The set is just a base set with one insert, the dyna etches. The 2099 base cards are really cool. This is more of a set that is to be enjoyed just for the cards vs finding big hits. They tend to brick quite a bit as well. That means being stuck together.

      @@TrueBlueCollectibles they were bricked from the start... especially the 1995 fleers the fat ones... any of them with a glossy touch... good luck. 👍

      Keep them sealed if you can. Great collectors boxes. If you do open and they are bricked, I made a video on how to unbrick them.

    I've been going down the rabbit hole of trading cards, bought a box of 250 or so near mint(nice edges, no crease,fold, beautiful) 94 marvel universe, 95 fleer ultra X-Men, 96 X-Men, and about 250 1996 Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Really if I can make my little bit of money back off Yu-Gi-Oh, and keep the rest I'm gonna. But my luck they will turn out to be trash and I loose my money.

    • @TrueBlueCollectibles
      @TrueBlueCollectibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found that you really have to get lucky when opening cards to “make money”. More times than not the best investment is holding sealed product. But from a collecting and enjoyment standpoint I love opening cards. I have made a big change towards only opening things I enjoy vs opening everything I can get my hands on.

      @@TrueBlueCollectibles considering I got the whole box for 50$ it will be hard to go wrong right? They were opened, but still in original packages, like 20 years ago somebody wanted a look, but stashed them away right after.

    Where do I go to get these evaluated? I have the full set with extras in pretty good condition.

    • @TrueBlueCollectibles
      @TrueBlueCollectibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you looking to get them graded? Or just overall condition? For grading there are a lot of options, but if you just want to check overall condition I would recommend picking up a lighted magnifier from ebay. There are a bunch of videos on TH-cam on evaluating card conditions that are beneficial.

      @@phanaticcollectibles3421 These are foil printing errors. I have serveral of these as well for other characters. Some people try to collect the set of missing foil cards. I normally get 2-3 per box.
