Congratulations Tiffany you did great in 2024 with actual projects and yards used. My husband makes comments every time a package enters the house and he frequently thinks it’s fabric and often it is not!! I quit buying clothing and only purchase shoes and socks. I only go to Joanne’s if I have something I need and have ordered through Joanne’s on line which has a wider variety. I agree with staying out of the stores and that is my strongest way to diminish buying. I bring my things I’m not go to use to ASG neighborhood meetings 😊. And purge my closet if I’m not wearing and pass to the Clothing bank at church. With a daughter you have so many things you can sew and hopefully she will be interested in sewing as well. My 2 daughters… not so but my Granddaughter has her own sewing machine and loves to sew. Good to see you are continuing with the stash challenge.

I need to go to Fabricaholics, I put myself on a buying band and purchased fabric the very next day, it was sweatshirt fleece and I loved it. I just don't do well saying you can't buy anything so going to try to just buy less or what I need.

Great result Tiffany! I managed to reduce my stash by 131 metres in 2024 even after allowing for a few fabric purchases. I’m determined to continue with reducing the fabric I have. It won’t be quick but I’m still determined. I’ve also chosen about 12 different fabrics that I really don’t think I’ll ever use and I plan to gift/sell them as a kick start. But I’m definitely making only mindful purchases now which feels good. Thank you for being my inspiration with this challenge. I see lots of people saying they will reduce their stash but you’re one of the few people who is really continuing working on this challenge. Good luck with all your sewing plans this year. 🤗

Congrats on your accomplishment this last year with your no buy months. I did not buy last year but received several donations from friends whose family member passed😔 and they wanted to see their sewing stuff used by someone they knew. There are literally tubs & more tubs for me to go through, so I’ve put it off, but I really need to destash it and keep only what I love. I’m doing no buy this year again with the exception of if I get a gift card or cash for my birthday, anniversary, or holiday ,then I can spend it on fabric or patterns or notions. 😊 Happy Sewing!

Hi Tiffany you have done so good to even track your progress and you have made a lot of progress!!! You have reason to be proud!!!! I love tracking! I track progress in several areas of my life. I don’t track for fabric because I don’t have a stash. I found early on in my sewing that it overwhelms me and I felt so pressured that iI wasn’t happy with having extra fabric on hand. I’m okay with buying for two projects at a time. When one is finished I will buy for one more project if I have something else I want to sew. That way I always have something to sew but it’s not overwhelming for me.
I’m looking forward to you sharing your sewing with us in 2025. Thank you Tiffany ❤️

Hi, Tiffany. I need to commit to cutting out at least 4 patterns/fabrics each month. I have a way to raise my cutting table to a height that doesn't strain my back. I can usually cut 2 patterns in 1 session. I am feeling much better and I think I can really make that commitment. You truly inspire me! Bless you Tiffany!!

You have many good hints for using stash and curb buying. I intentionally did not buy much last year except for use on charity projects. I honestly have no trouble not buying. I just avoid fabric stores.😊 Thank you for sharing, Tiffany. You are amazing with what you accomplish.

So much wisdom in this video. I love your end of year video, to be happy for your progress and to encourage me as well. In 2024, I think I found the way that works for me. I only purchased fabric twice out of necessity. However, I do purchase the Beyond the Pink Door subscription box (in lieu of birthday and Christmas gifts). For the price, I receive excellent quality fabrics, useful notions and some extras. The fabrics are 2.5 meters and European fabrics almost always come in wider widths. It’s true that I don’t get to choose the fabric but I have a stash of beautiful fabrics that I have chosen. I enjoy the monthly box and I feel that plan of attack has worked well for me although I realize it isn’t for everyone. To each his own and I wish everyone success. I also ordered a few patterns but only on sale. I think my two words for the past year were content and patient 😉. Your first video about this gave me what I needed to start making a game plan and it has evolved to where it is now. Thank you so much.

I love this, Tiffany. I have years of stash even from my Mennonite days. I find it difficult to organize it because my sewing space is so small. I am considering moving my operations to our granny flat in the next year. It would be so wonderful to have the space to be organized. Currently, I have storage in 3 separate spaces. So much of my horded fabric is from my children's childhood clothing I made. I might need to look through that and decide how to better utilize it. Thanks for the great tips! ❤❤ You are inspiring, Tiffany.
One of my goals for 2025 is to sew more of what I have on hand. 🎉

Although, I do adore your sewing camper and its special memories and meaning! Excited to follow along with your journey, Lesley! Happy Sewing ❤️~Tiffany

Great video! Congratulations on your stash stats. You did a fantastic job. I only used 52 yards this year. It was the first year I tracked how much I bought. That was a real eye opener. Going to be much more mindful this year. I usually use a journal to track things, but this year I'm using a planner.

I'm sewing a piece of Joann's luxe fleece from my stash for a jacket right now, but I would be afraid to add up all the fabric I have 😱! Just looking at it can feel overwhelming instead of inspiring, which is not good. I also need to let some things go and have set a goal of giving away one thing a day (not necessarily sewing items - we've been married a while and also have things from relatives who have passed). You are so right that the amounts we purchase add up, just like at the supermarket 😁 - and yes, I have patterns I liked so much I bought them twice...oops! You gave very, very good advice - absolutely, if you don't see it, you don't know you want it!

Sometimes facing our fears is the hardest step of all! Hope you’re having a great week, Mary! Happy Sewing ❤️~Tiffany

I didn’t do a stash challenge last year, I don’t even want to think about trying to measure all of my stash! 😂 However this year I have challenged myself this year to stop buying so many patterns. I have an enormous stash of patterns that I have never sewn and I would like to kinda even that out. I’m not doing a 3 month ban, because I’m afraid I would crack 😂 so I’m easing myself in with like an every other month ban. But starting in January. So far so good! 😂

Awesome! You’re doing great. All I can say to myself is I’m going to do better this year. I don’t plan on buying this year. I went on some trips last year and felt like I had to buy. So far I have not bought any in 2025! I’m afraid to track what I have right now. Next year I will do another inventory & start keeping track. I’m also afraid to let my fabric go. I feel like I’ll want them later.

    • @hoosierhandmade22
      @hoosierhandmade22  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Hello, Peggy! Thank you so much for watching! Great question about scraps! If a piece of fabric is big enough to utilize for something, like patch pockets, zipper pouches, undies for Addy, etc. I’ll fold them and store them. I’m working on a basket system for those, categorizing them by fabric type. I’m actually planning on talking about it in Fridays video so your question is really timely! Scraps from cutting items out that are too small to do anything with go into a bin. Ideally, I would use it for stuffing but what most likely happens is that Addy helps herself to them for her “projects”, haha! Thanks for the great question, Peggy! Happy Sewing ❤️~Tiffany

I buy too much cheap fabric because it is a good deal. I’m trying to be more selective. I don’t buy patterns, except the Big 4, when they are on sale unless I am going to start on that item that same week. Otherwise, the next new thing comes along, and I never even try the pattern.
