The parable of the Pharisee and the Publican
"And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." -Luke 18:9-14
Never forget what true Christianity means, we are not better than those who are in the world, while we may be saved we still fall to sin and are inherently slaves to it, nothing we do makes us worthy, only by Gods grace and mercy are we saved.

what's the purpose of the old testament in the Bible, was it to set rules that man should follow?
      Actually the purpose was....
      1. To present God's Holiness
      2. To show Mans inability to judge righteously between right and wrong
      3. To show Gods standards
      4. To show how much man fails to attain Gods standards
      5. To show how flawed humanity is
      6. To show Gods Grace and Mercy
      7. To show how God will test and humble us to show if given a choice how we always fall short
      8. To foreshadow the coming of a saviour to redeem us from our inadequacy to meet God's standard
      9. To show how humanity is inherently slaves to sin and even when we don't want to we still fall to sin

His failure series I've always found a little boring, but aside from that, he's just not very quick on his feet. I think Matt and Tracy are clearly the best, Jeff Dee was amazing, and most other co-hosts are pretty quick and good at this kind of thing. I just don't think this is Don's forte, and when he's on I feel like half of what he says gets corrected by Matt.

John Morris did you even watch the episode? First, it was in 2011 before any of this was really talked about on a large scale. He brought awareness to the trans community talking about clothes fitting and the reactions people gave. It was an opportunity for others to see a side they don’t normally see.
Jeff’s surgery comment was probably the worst thing said and even that wasn’t something that I was offended by.
As a trans woman, I appreciated what Matt did. He could have easily just stopped at saying he was doing drag and walking around screaming he lost a bet, but instead, he decided to make the experience something more.
I find you saying transgender people are suffering from “severe mental illness” and just us wanting to be “normal” to be way more insulting to the community than anything Matt remotely did.
Gender dysphoria is a real issue, but it can be treated with transition. To say I’m suffering from severe mental illness after transition, well, I’m sure you will find some agreement with some of the far right types like Crowder and a few trolls on here.
Trans people are “normal,” we aren’t “broken.” Stop making us victims.

The YT algorithm brought me here. So I gave it a try. I've never considered myself religious. I came from a very relaxed family luckily. My mom was raped by a priest when she was 8. But never refused to let me explore religion if I wanted too. She just wouldn't be there to experience with me. I've battled depression & suicidal thoughts my whole life. & in 2012 I attempted suicide & almost succeeded. I flatlined twice, barely survived. & woke up from a coma later. It was later when analyzing the experience, I got my answer about religion. I flatlined twice, & not a for a moment. A dangerous amount. Which meant I was dead. So if we go by religion viewpoints, I'm either starting to hell or ascending to heaven. Except there was no light, no flames, no deceased family member waiting for me. I was just here & then I wasn't. & when faced with that realization & experience. You can't really be on the fence about it anymore. Religion is a construct, created by man, to control other men. The fantasy of imaginary friends can't continue. & finally I'm at peace with my answer. & no it doesn't sadden me to know there isn't a magical bad or good place that exists in death. As miserable as I am here, I'd probably be the same there if it existed.

Thanks for sharing your experience Sarah. I was raised in a fundamentalist Christian environment and stayed there for more than 30 + years. But as soon as I started to care if my beliefs were true, it wasn't long before I concluded they almost certainly weren't. The peace I've found living with the understanding that this is the only life I get, and I am profoundly lucky to have this life, makes me look at each day as a "blessing" (if I may coin a religious term).
There is a quote by Richard Dawkins that I first heard in the Nightwish song, "Endless forms most beautiful" (If you like symphonic metal, check it out). Anyway, the Dawkins quote is:
*"We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of those stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here. We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?"*

It really isn't. As an atheist, i used to say stuff like that a lot. And, to be fair, there are a lot of ignorant theists who make that claim seem true.
But after I studied some basic philosophy of religion, I realized that there are intelligent theists who have been busy advancing some prerty rigorous arguments in support of theism in the past few decades that most atheists wouldn't have a clue how to counter.
Plantinga's concept of "proper basicality" is one. It's basically an argument that belief in god is rational - without any appeal to evidence or argument.
It sounds outrageous but it's quite a difficult argument to attack.
Theists aren't all dumbasses, just as atheists aren't all paragons of reason and intelligence.

To be honest Matt seem to grow less and less patient with callers. Not to say that's not understandable, but it seem to grow to be a bit counterproductive. Dropping people with "What Evidence you have? None? I thought so" doesn't really bringing anything new to the table for any of participants. Caller is feeling rudely rejected and offended, hence strengthening their bias and discouraging any further contacts and questioning process. Audience doesn't get to hear proper unraveled explanation for why is it not a proper argumentation. Sure, you can say that audience is probably heard it quite a lot of times before, but that's a slippery slope, leading straight to "why even have a calling show, all the arguments were already made". At best you can argue that hosts are saving some time, but for what?

If I was leading worship, however, I was totally unmoved, even doing so in front of 1000+ people a few times. I was totally confident in my ability to play piano, sing, and lead the worship time the way I thought it should go (with 'on the spot' changes) so I remained calm but public speaking, however prepared I was, no matter how confident I first felt, it always deteriorated. So I was asked what heaven is, & if Grandma was really there now, why did she leave & go there, etc. I just said no one actually knows what heaven is or if it's real, but people like to think it is. I've also been asked by my kids what church is, since they've now heard about it at school from other kids asking what church they go to, or talking about going to church. I did my best to explain about some people having a certain belief, but as I began agreeing they immediately became disinterested, for which I was relieved! Yay the Otangelo method of not listening to anything anyone else says and getting offended when that doesn't work. At least he's persistent.

Otangelo is completely dishonest. He relies on vague language, misrepresentations of science and Gish gallop entirely. I've talked to him on the phone and through FB, he finally blocked me when I destroyed his misquotes and syllogisms.

I talked to him on Facebook too - he stopped responding after a day or so. We had a chat about evolution - he posted his personal blog to 'disprove' evolution, whereas my sources included encyclopedias, science textbooks, science magazines, 150 years of research in Biology/Genetics/Anthropology/Paleontology, and the nonfiction section of the library

Huh? I live in Toronto, Ontario and Canadians In the summer say IT'S TOO HOT all the time. it can get as high as 33 C. And with the humidity it can fell like 40 C. I live in Toronto and that statement makes no sense. For some reason many Americans seem to think Canada is some Artic zone where it's cold all the time.
FYI : For Southern Ontario our Winters are cold - 30 C (windchill it can sometimes feel like-40 C)
And In summer 30 C and higher are very common. And the humidity here makes it worse. In the middle of the summer walking outside can feel like you just walked into a giant oven.

i always had a problem with quantum computing, you have to stop the computer from accessing the data in order to preserve the qubits uncertainty principle, so when do you know when to check the data? you could break the whole qubit CPU board, its not like a microwave and a bell goes off, the observer effect will cause the cesium atoms wave function to collapse, or am i missing something, because i know we do have qubits now but they require a giant chamber
