    To be fair, if you put a Rollie under a macro lens, some of these imperfections appear as well. For instance, they're really bad about stray paint on the GMT hand.
    If you could do a video on how to realign a date wheel, I would be forever grateful. My PD-1617 is badly off center in the date window. It seems like something that could be dead simple or really tricky.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I've seen that before with the GMTs, but generally they do alright. It's hard to not find occasional faults in most brands with a good macro lens though. One exception might be Grand Seiko haha.

    Hey, Brian. Thanks for this video. I bought the PD 1651 for my dad, and he really likes it. It had the same misaligned bezel, so I’ll be looking for your video on realigning bezels. I’m also a new subscriber. I just got the handwound Vario Empire and came across your movement replacement/watch review video. Really interesting. Thanks for doing these videos, and I’ll be sure to try and take that Autavia copy off your hands. Take care, man.

    Thank you for that , I have the same clasp as the 1651 on another PD watch it’s an absolute bugger to move the micro adjust , it’s made me think if I got a 1651 I’d discard the bracelet , so interesting you were content with it . I think the pressed steel clasps that all the reviewers knock on Addiesdive watches are more than adequate , I never look at the clasp but each to his own .

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Idk, I've always been ok with the bracelet on this one, but not on most of the other PDs I've tried. I usually change out the strap for something leather on the dressy models or rubber on the dive models.

    To be fair, I had to return a Citizen watch because the chronograph secondhand wouldn't hit the markers. When I returned it, the new one they gave me also didn't hit the markers, so I gave that one back, and they kept looking till they finally found one that did. My Seiko 5 has a little rust spot under the glass on the dial? Wtf. I've seen macro shots of way more expensive watches that also have dust inside like the grand seiko and rolex. Usually, you get what you pay for, but in my opinion, pagani design gives you more than you pay for.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like it because it’s steel. Makes it a no concern, easy to work with bezel. The blasted versus polished look also is nice.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha true. Well I waited several months for my Rolex only to be told it wasn't coming, so I went after-market when a fair deal came along. There's certainly a difference in quality level between the two, from the case to the movement, but I wouldn't characterize it as a 10,900$ difference :)

    I ordered a pagani NTTD Omega Homage on OCT 20TH 2020 AND 70 DAYS LATER STILL NO WATCH. It disappeared for 6 weeks after leaving or being scanned in Singapore. I got a Ping on Tracking DECEMBER 9th NY NY ISC SORTING CENTER. And there it has sat ever since . The Case closes in 21 or 22 days. I don't know if it got stolen in the sorting center. Anyway I ordered another similar with similar specs from Bliger NH35 Sapphire .73.50 with a mesh. I paid for Fedex Shipping on this one. The Trendy Men Store don't even offer Feedex which is where I bought the Pagani.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine took a couple months, so it's not abnormal to be waiting around for these things, and for them to get lost in transit from time-to-time. And I expect it could be sitting in customs a bit with the holiday season backlog amongst other things (e.g., covid). I got mine straight from the AliExpress store.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t tried the Parnis, so I can’t give a comparison opinion. What I can say is that so far I am quite entertained by the Pagani. It is comfortable and functional.

  • @ssmit80
    @ssmit80 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just received a 1649 that I ordered around the time this vidoe came out. This one had a unidirectional bezel on it while yours had a bi directional bezel. The bezel and chapter rings seem to be spot on while the numbers on the dial don't seem to be as crisp on the one you received. I think you might find little differences like these as well. The bracelet is definitely not the best. The edges are pretty sharp, wich makes it a bit uncomfortable.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a little odd about the bezel, haha. The bezel was fine on mine, seemed like something on the dial was off a tad. The bracelet on the PD-1651 was so much better. As you say the one with the 1649 has sharp edges and such. Thanks for watching!

    Thats the problem with homage watches. They get the good and the bad. Autavia looks fantastic then you see the 42mm size and say not for me. Same goes for the homage then.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  3 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @Mister_Phafanapolis
    @Mister_Phafanapolis 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I do not understand the hate for homage watches. The existance of a less expensive alternative doesn't diminish the prestige, history, glamour or glory of the original. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then having a watch design transcend a nameplate and become a template, an archetype, of a style is a tremendous compliment.
    Also, watch guys kvetch endlessly about homage watches but wear homage clothes without batting an eye. Do they only wear oxford cloth button downs from Brooks Brothers? Do they only wear waxed cotton jackets from Barbour? Do they only wear penny loafers from GH Bass? Sure as shit they don't think about these things. Inconsistent, two-faced, contradictory, incongruous, hypocritical watch snobs.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure if you are suggesting I hate homage watches or if you are just venting generally about people who hate them. I actually really like the PD-1651, basically a Yacht-Master copy, and already put the blue hand on it. In the vid I simply say I’m not a huge fan of “heavy” homage watches, but some people are, and to each their own. They at least let a person give a test run for a design.

    • @Mister_Phafanapolis
      @Mister_Phafanapolis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WatchComplications It was much more of a vent than something directed at you specifically. You have a reasonable stance on the topic and seem to use these watches more as a chance to tinker as much as anything else.
      This is more of a philosophical question. What is the harm in even a 1:1 direct copy with a different logo on the dial? Hard liners don't seem to have a thought out reason for their stance despite being the loudest, most opinionated and staunchest in their belief.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do use them for tinkering and personal entertainment for the most part. As for direct copies minus the logo...personally, I have a natural care for intellectual property, perhaps somewhat due to my profession and projects. Direct copy isn’t allowed for books, photos, materials, software, etc. Will copies, reinterpretations, and such always happen, yes. Is what it is. With regard to watches, I just try my best to evaluate them for what they are. And the PD-1651 makes a great beater.

    • @Mister_Phafanapolis
      @Mister_Phafanapolis 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I might add 2 comments. If you don't like the cyclops (many Rolex have them as you know). My Pagani watches with the Sieko movement is MORE accurate than my real Rolex! The "Daytona" (non mechanical but a quartz Sieko movement is running 2 sec fast A WEEK! This is just one of their sub homages but with a silver bezel. The beauty of the YM lies in its case design, they should've focused on that instead.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a $100 watch, they aren't going to put that much time into it. It's certainly not a yachtmaster-style case, but for the price, I just can't argue for what you get out of it. It's comfortable, accurate, and reasonably spec'd. Perhaps if they trimmed the case down then it would be even better, but then it'd probably be best to just buy a yachty ;)

  • @RandyWanat
    @RandyWanat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    May want to be careful referring to copies/homages by the brand names of the originals (Autavia, TAG, Yachtmaster, etc.). Gary @ I Like Watches lost his channel due to that.

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate the sentiment, but I repeatedly comment that these are copies of those brands, for example a “Yachtmaster copy” which is what it is. Probably good to keep making that clear. I could see how if someone was repeatedly calling them the original brand name or model name it would be an issue, but I don’t believe I give that impression at all. Usually I call them by their PD number. I’m also not selling, offering discounts, or promoting the products in any formal way, which my understanding is that was the main issue with that channel? I will certainly continue to be cautious about the language though.
