  • Today we compare the much cheaper Holzfforma G372XP to the Husqvarna 372xp as well as the Husqvarna 455 rancher, Stihl Ms 362c and Stihl Ms 462. Let me know if you think the Holzfforma is worth it. Thanks!

    For the money? YEAH! I bought the new 3rd generation Hultzfforma G660 PRO and it rocks. They upgraded the cylinder, piston, carburetor, plug, magnesium starter cover, and now the chain tensioner is on the clutch cover side all at 1/4 the price of the Stihl MS660. One thing that China has learned from U.S. companies there is engineering. They've knocked out the Stihl part for part, so Stihl OEM parts fit perfectly.

    I have one of the Stihl ms038 clone (G388). Once it was turned and broke in, it runs great. I have had it for over a year now. Worth it to me. I would have to buy three to four of them to equal the cost of the Stihl.

    I’d like to see brand new chains on all of them. Watching the saw dust on some saws and chips on others. And your bucking seemed to be different with each saw. I would also like to see the holz with some time on it. Awesome video though! Editing was great!!!

      JP Lawns&More I agree. The chain on the Stihl ms362 was not as fresh as the rest of the pack. All the other saws had a new chain or a freshly sharpened chain. The 362 was definitely dull in addition to being a semi chisel

    I have a g372xp also. I had to lean it out. Out of the box it was right around 11k rpms. I have it set at 13.5k ish and it holds it's own with my real 372. Remember, a sharp chain is the cheapest way to cut fast.

    A) Watch Steve's Small Engine Saloon for a 'how to tune a saw' tutorial.
    B) Without swapping the same chain & bar over, you're into an 'apples & oranges' situation. You can't compare powerheads using your methodology. And, yes, I realize that a bar that fits a Stihl may not fit the other powerheads. At least use the same length in that scenario.

They have photos and they literally just walked in the front door so it wasn't staged. This is not a sweatshop, some massive government ran facility, or unsafe cold war era factory. They literally run brand new HAAS CNCs. I don't even think they have 200 workers. which a small business in the US is anything under 800ish. They also have a couple of tweaks needed. Watch the afleetcommand vids for info. Also, your cutting clearly shows why you should learn to field sharpen by hand so you can always cut with a sharp chain. Basically, the clones work well when tuned and debugged.

      Thanks William. Yes I should have mentioned that the clone saw is identical to the husky in every way. Part for part. If anything breaks you can take it to a Husqvarna dealer and you could swap out any part for an OEM part. Plus Holzfforma has been making aftermarket parts for these saws for years from what I read before I bought it. This is what made me decide to try it out.

    • @williamwilson6887
      @williamwilson6887 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hometown Acres - that would certainly help if there were any parts that broke for sure. I was very surprised with the time difference between the two though. For a casual user I’d think the after market may be good enough but for someone who uses a saw on a regular basis and accounts for their time towards production costs the after market may not “cut” it. I’m curious to see what everyone else has to say.......and I may be biased as I had a Husqvarna. Take care

    I'll admit it, I bought a ms 660 kit. I love to tinker and can't wait to build and modify it. It's a start and I'm replacing a lot on it with stihl parts. I'm building a cabin and already have a real ms 291 and ms 391, but will be able to get more done with a 660. I'll keep this saw fresh and know by the time it's a couple years old I will know it inside out and it will be mostly stihl parts running like new. The the money I save up front will gain me the rest of what I need to have us in our new handmade cabin by the first good snow. That's what is most important to me. I think the g372 was lean, but I need to hear it wide open no load to be sure. Carb tuning should be done on a warm saw. A 1/16 of a turn can make big difference. The chain you are running on it may account for some of the slower cut time in comparison to the real one. Also compare the muffler outlet size to the real one. If it is smaller it needs opened up.

    Adam...See if you can talk your neighbor in to buying an Echo CS-7310 for you to play with. Put about fifteen full tanks of fuel through it. Then watch it smoke those other 70cc saws with a 24/25" bar. It has a fully adjustable carb which means you can adjust it and don't have to rely on the manufacturer/dealer like the Stihls and Huskys with Mtronic/Autotune to set it the way you like. And its filtration is second to none. If I wasn't having a 461 (manual carb) built for work I'd be getting a 7310 brought to work saw tune.

    I have a 72cc chinasaw and was recently running through some wood and after a sharpen, fuel up and air cleaner change the aircleaner cover was being a fair bitch to get back on so as I only had a few more blocks to go I left the cover off. The saw turned into an absolute beast with the cover off which makes me think that the whole time for the last 5 years or so the saw has been struggling for air.

  • @bigjersobservations

    Hi Adam. This link is a fair reference on tuning that G372xp. : www.manualslib.com/manual/605309/Husqvarna-365-372xp.html?page=31 2700rpm idle, 3500rpm wot. I think you are off to a good start and close on the tune. The G372 sounds leaner than the Husky. The Husky has a good medium pitch 4 stroke to it, and the Huztl sounds like it has a higher pitch 4 stroke. You can use the husky for a tuning pitch reference if both mufflers are stock. It appears that your low responds quick .You did not mention using a tach, so if you are tuning by ear (or with a tach) when the saw goes in the wood is when you finish tuning. . The way it drops rpm so quickly and falls completely out of the power band suggests it is to lean. But I can hear 4 stroking before you hit the wood. From the computer it is difficult to tell if it is heavy 4 stroking (to rich) or very light 4 stroking (to lean). Either way once you think you have the high side, go back and do the low then high again until you think you have it and by always finishing with the high in the wood. So weather you are using a tach or ears, finish the tune for power in the wood. That saw should be running fairly close to the real Husky. By the way, your Husky did a good job giving the larger stihl 462 a great run for the money. Great Video.

      Out of patent, l believe a lot of the new environmental protection laws(like in CA and Australia) around 2 stroke engines were an attempt to block these sorts of products as the new Stihl and husky saws meet the standards but the old ones don't. Mind u the old ones generally had more power than the new ones due to all the efficiency and emissions standards they had to meet. In theory a well made clone of an older model should cut better than the newer versions.
