    Looks like it's performing really well but you confirmed my one fear of the cold weather issue. But even still I think replacement of the plastic as it fails will still under cost a new husqvarna or used and worn out one for that matter. Keep testing it and I hope it lasts over the long term. Please do some follow up videos thru out the next year as it gets some hours on it. Thanks again for your time and efforts

    When you start it your letting the starter handle fly loose, it wingwangs around knocking holes in whatever it hits the cold makes plastic brittle! Was a dealer for 20 years.

      @@cheaphomesteading One thing I should mention is that you may want to keep an eye on the plastic motor shroud. On mine the top of the motor was not machined properly and was touching the plastic. You can smell the plastic burning when it gets hot. I had to file the top of the motor down a bit ti fix that (If you take the shroud off you will see what I mean). If you don't address that, it will melt the top of the shroud where the sticker is. But maybe yours doesn't have that issue.

  • @AbsolutionArmament
    @AbsolutionArmament 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good videos, A word of fair warning you might want to get a metal gas can. Over time the gas breaks down the plastic and it can put chunks/gel into your carb and saw.

    • @cheaphomesteading
      @cheaphomesteading  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could have. but I figured it out the plastic in the cold is More brittle. If you pull the pull cord and release it from the pulled possession the returning handle flops and makes Cracks on the plastic. You can do that with a husky with no problem it must be the plastic. Even with that I absolutely love the saw. Thanks for watching man

    Hey Pete, great review of the saw! Does the saw have a magnesium crankcase? I am really impressed with the way the saw cuts. Yea I think the plastic will be the weak point on the saw but wow, look at what it cost! I think it is a great deal for the homeowner who doesn't want to pay over a thousand dollars for a professional chainsaw, who would like the extra power. Hope you have a Blessed Day Pete!

  • @mr.cocksure2579
    @mr.cocksure2579 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks bud but I can certainly tell you only have a few hours running a power saw. Keep the chain out of the dirt that will dull your chain instantly. Cut flush with your notches as well or eventually you'll get that saw yanked right out of your hands. Most of all just slow down take your time because that saw can kill you very easily if you're not paying 100 percent attention.

    From looking at the specs, the G372 is much heavier than the Husqvarna 372. Do you know if the crankcase in the G372 is aluminium? I think the Husqvarna's crankcase is magnesium - that might account for the weight difference.

      @@cheaphomesteading Thanks! My father and I rebuilt my father's 1994 Husqvarna 61 last year with some aftermarket parts and the saw works great! After doing some research, I found the 372xp kits and wondered what a 71cc would be like. The 61 weighs about 19lbs with a full tank of gas and oil and an 18inch bar and chain, which I find quite manageable. So I'm just curious to get a take on the 372xp's weight.

      Sorry for taking so long to answer your question I’m not so good at getting back to the comment. I would definitely recommend getting a G372xp that has been the best purchase I have made on the homestead. I love the saw runs great the only problems I had was the fuel tank and they sent me a new one right at the start.the second thing that happened the bolts on the flywheel came loose and backed out and destroyed my recoil. I think they fixed the tank plastic problem a long time ago.the only thing I would recommend is removing the bolts that hold the dogs on your flywheel and reinstall them with lock tight so that yours won’t do the same. You won’t regret getting one they are great. Thanks for watching

      @@cheaphomesteadingThe fact that you cut your holding wood off the tree went almost 180 degrees from where you intended it to go. Never cut your holding wood off, clean up your face cut. You did good putting a wedge in but if it's not going pound that wedge all the way in. If it still doesn't go then stack 2. If its still doesn't go then you made a bad read on the tree and should have put a line in it and pulled it over. The tree should always fall in the direction of your face cut.

    • @cheaphomesteading
      @cheaphomesteading  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I normally don't chime in on these things, however as a professional of 15 years I can say...
      Your technique looks horrendous based solely on the 2 cuts I saw you make. Some thong I saw
      1. Your notch APPEARED to be less than 45 degrees
      2. Your back cut was angled down and was too far above the apex
      3. Yes you cut off your hinge, don't know how reading the tree wrong has anything to do with this your back cut is set up in relation to your notch, not the tree.
      Notes.. If your just cutting firewood the 70 or open face notch is much safer .
      Yes it is possible to steer a fall with the hinge (referred to as a Dutchman) but it's unreliable, and needs healthy wood to be effective.

      I can't speak on the husky clones. However I've been very pleased with my 660 clone after replacing parts some parts. There is TH-cam channel called afleetcommand. He has sent his Chinese saws through the ringer in professional hands. He's made a list on OPE forum of the parts you should replace.
      Also this part if the material is the same as the 660s and 070s. The 372 should outlast those. The 372 has a massive overbuilt bottom end which even OEM should outlast a stihl.
