Been awhile since I caught a Gator Gar. Mostly Needle Nose Gar below Hydroelectric Plant Crisp on Flint River at Lake Blackshear GA... That was an awesome fish. Makes for good eating... The belly meat on the inside of the body cavity is boneless and the sweetest meat... Good Fishing! Catch A Big One! His friend said, "You're the luckiest fisherman in the World." I cannot disagree. He lost his rod and got it back (2% chance) and then he hooks a real Alligator Gar in the tail. Had he hooked the Gar in the mouth, it would have torn his Monofilament line in 1.5 seconds. What's that old saying? I'd rather be lucky than good !!!! Another great video.
What a fight! That reminded me of when I dorsal hooked a 15lb common carp while fishing a tiny Mepps for crappie on my ultralight combo with 2lb test line… 35 mins later I got it in and released it. I was completely outgunned 🤦🏼

Yea Blooper reels, that’s what I was talking about I feel like I’m not the only one. Broke two poles this month and a reel. One on pier in SD , that was fun to snap. One in canal in AZ on. Big catfish in spillway. Two poles last month in weird outta water accidents About to spend more on my poles, hope I don’t kick em out the kayak… Love it braH. Be free. LOL. Everyone deserves at least one amateur hour moment. A friend of mine borrowed one of my rods and did almost the exact same thing.. except my rod was never retrieved. And it was a prized rod from my childhood. It took me a long time to forgive him. It's the kind of thing that can make a friendship wear thin.

I don't know when they spawn by you but if you fish live bullhead without any weight any where near them at spawn time they destroy it. Don't matter what size bullhead either they all great bait.
I had that happen to me with a Gary Dobyns rod. I had drifted 100 feet before I noticed it. I dropped anchor put on a 1oz football jig with a 5/0 hook and started casting. On my 2nd attempt I hooked the tip of my Dobyn’s rod. When I pulled off most of the weeds I reeled in a 3 pound bass on the senko on my Dobyn’s rod. A few months later I ran into Gary and I showed him the picture of his rod, still dragging weeds and the bass. He just laughed!
I lost my KastKing Calamus ultralite in like 12ish feet of water recently and I spent so long and couldn’t get it. The wind was blowing and I lost my orientation. It was tragic. Rest in piece.
5:09 - HOOWWW LONNNGGG, has this been gooin onnnn? 😎 But for real… it’s always a bummer to find out your 40# fish is a 5# channel cat hooked in the tail. At least your fish turned out to be something way cooler than a 5# catfish in towing configuration. 😉
Dude i plipped one of my kayaks and dumped 3 rods in the water spent 2hrs with a weight and a treble hook dragging the bottom and got all 3 rods back! lol! so been there and done that 2 different times!
