Glad to see you discover Sabaton. They're a swedish band, singing about military history. They don't take sides, but tell about war from the perspective of the soldier from any country, without glorifying war. They research thoroughly the background, visit veterans and war sites to show respect and gather facts. The old skipper in the beginning is the son of the last survivor from Bismarck. The pocket compass is true relic from the Bismarck. It's engraved with the position of the wreck. It will be a joyride to see you continue down the Sabaton road.
Great reaction. If you are interested, they have Sabaton History Chanel, where a historian named Indy Neidel, explaines the historical background of all of their song. And either Par Sundstrom, the bass player or Joakim Broden, the singer, talk about the song itself. The drummer is Hannes Van Dahl, the dark haired guitarplayer is Chris Rorland and the blond one is Tommy Johansson. .All of their albums, 10 so far, are about military history, except Metalizer. So you still have a long journey with Sabaton ahead of you. By the way, they dont take sides, they just tell stories. Greetings from Belgium🤘🤘🤘
Drummer, Hannes Van Dahl is Floor's husband...expecting 2nd baby. So I happen to know you like Phantom of the Opera... you should definitely check out Tommy Johansson's cover (sings both parts!) from his YT channel. Tommy, sometimes called "the male Floor" for his vocal abilities, is also the 6'5" blonde lead guitarist in Sabaton. Sabaton songs come w a lesson...see Night Witches video.
If you want an awesome live song with sabaton you should listen to En livstid i krig (a lifetime of war) live Scandinavium Gothenburg (the album Carolus Rex that came out during that time is about a part of Swedish history referred to as the era of great power or stormaktstiden in Swedish) They released both an English and Swedish version of the album and It is the Swedish version of the song they played so be sure that the subtitles are on. I was at that show and all I can say is that you won't regret it.
I love Sabaton's mixture of history and rock. My favourite Sabaton video is their collaboration with Yarnhub on their "Night Witches-Animated Story". I high recommend for a future reaction. Good reaction.
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Sabaton. I do hope you will continue with Sabaton, they have so many good songs, as you most likely already understand by all the comments. Someone recommended their official Sabaton History Channel, I second that. Also a few must see, for starters. 'En livstid i krig' live from the Great Tour in Gothenburg, its in Swedish but use the subs. 'No bullets fly'the animated story and why not an older video, 'Ghostdivision'live from the polish Woodstock back in 2012. Amazing performance. To start with.... Nice reaction!
Great reaction to an awesome song from an epic band. I would highly recommend ‘Christmas Truce’ and/or ‘No Bullets Fly’ to really see Sabaton’s storytelling mastery at work. Both are great songs.
Love Sabaton! The fact they can make you feel patriotic for a nation that's not necessarily yours or kinda patriotic at all. As patriotism is a weird thing in Germany. But just the way they tell stories about battles and people who were extraordinary. Love for example Nightwitches and No Bullets Fly. Super excited to actually see them live in April :D
I was sure you would like this band. They have a bunch of songs that are absolutely awesome since they have been a group since 1999. Some that I would suggest are Night Witches, Panzerkampf, The Lost Battalion, Ghost Division, 40:1, and the Winged Hussars to start with. But just about anything these guys do is amazing. Thanks for checking them out! Just about every one of their songs makes you patriotic for a nation that you are not from, lol. Glad you like them!
@@SargeStreams There are so many options and as you said there were lots of other people that had mentioned it. I'm sure there are other requests for other songs or types of music that are offered to you. Going through it all can take a while, I'm sure.
The naval battles were created by World of Warships gaming in cooperation with Sabaton. Thye have another video called "Steel Commanders" made in cooperation with World of Tanks; side note, there is a Sabaton tank that can be acquired to play in the game (a Swedish-naturally-Strv heavy tank). As a Marine, you might be interested in their song "Devil Dogs" about the WW1 Belleau Wood battle and the Marines. Great reaction, keep rocking Sabaton.

Hi, it looks like my recommendations, introducing you to both Nightwish and Sabaton worked out well. And yes, on drums you saw and heard Floor's husband, Hannes Van Dahl. Sabaton is a great band, telling honest stories in well constructed songs with good melodies. I was introduced to them by my oldest son when we were in Normandy (France) years ago, visiting some historic WWII sites. He told me about this metal band who sang about things that happened there and that's when I first heard 'Primo Victoria'. I've been listening to many of their songs ever since and I'm sure you'll enjoy their dicography too. I'm looking forward to seeing them live next May.
Thank you again for the suggestions. Great bands and great music. That will be exciting to see them live. I’ll be back to more reactions as soon as I feel better. See you soon! 🫡💚
For a better understanding of the Battle of the Atlantic, I must recommend a 1960 Movie "Sink the Bismarck". It is free here on YT. This Movie was one of my inspirations for enlisting in the US Navy in 1984.
I like Sabaton, and especially this song. My dad was in the navy and as his daughter I did visit some of the ships he sailed on. Mainly destoyers and a couple of flightdeckships. I can still recall the smell of steel and oil. Apart from the storytelling, Sabaton also makes awesome video's to go with their songs. Have a great journey.
If you're a veteran, you'll appreciate Sabaton... At least that is what I hear from other Veterans that are reactors. Beside singing about history, Sabaton have a history channel, where they give a more detailed background for their songs, presented by a historian. As for videos, I'll recommend these video's to react to (just for starters). The advantage of the Animated Stories, is that you get the background for the song in them as well... and they're freaking cool :) Night Witches (Animated story): th-cam.com/video/5YPo8zDkvy4/w-d-xo.html No Bullets Fly (Animated Story): th-cam.com/video/dslO-3GgenY/w-d-xo.html Devil Dogs: th-cam.com/video/rJuR6vBMJ7s/w-d-xo.html Soldier of Heaven: th-cam.com/video/LYI3eegIJlI/w-d-xo.html Christmas Truce th-cam.com/video/HPdHkHslFIU/w-d-xo.html En Livstid i Krig (Turn CC on) th-cam.com/video/WBs3G1PvyfM/w-d-xo.html
Sabaton is like the modern metal version of Johnny Horton. I mean that as an absolute compliment. FYI their lead guitarist Tommy Johansson has an incredible you tube channel in his own right. he does incredible metal covers and does all the music in them himself. One of the best tenors in metal I've heard.
“Lest We Forget” is Sabaton’s mantra. They are not political but sing of the sacrifices, heroics of military thro out recorded history. Sabaton has a history channel on UTube that tells the story behind a lot of their songs. To get a taste of their history channel, message of the music try, No Bullets Fly or Night Witches their animated story videos. It’s a combination of both history and music videos. Like Nightwish, Sabaton has my mantra for listening to these amazing bands because in this very old Metal Rock head humble opinion they have no bad songs and my mantra is, MY FAVORITE NIGHTWISH/SABATON SONG IS ALWAYS THE LAST ONE I LISTENED TOO!!!!”. I could send you the links ( again I’m older than dirt) good luck on your journey discovering these amazing bands! Thank you for your service! God Bless Rock On Stay Safe!🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

One of our neighbors who died years ago was a survivor of the Bismarck he was pretty miserable the rest of his days. Poor soul.😢
I say Sabaton is patriotic but to humankind rather then a nation.
Love that!
I like to call it "Valor Metal"
The Bismarck was a German warship in WWII. He was one of two ships of the Bismarck-class. The Bismarck himself and his sister-ship Tirpitz.
Highly recommend watching their show in poland Woodstock 2012. Uprising, 40:1, Ghost division, etc.. 750k people crowd.
