I just herd about the role as a QP, i'm currently a medical biotechnology year 2 student and want to go into the legal route of biopharmaceuticals. What other legal roles are there inside of this field and what routes would you recommend me on taking if i want to do something inside of legislation?
Hi Tommy, there are 3 sides to legal, the lawyers, not for your route, the regulatory side which includes medical information and pharmacovigilance and compliance which you could take up to the QP status. You should look deeper into regulatory affairs which is the interface with the regulators or quality where you support the business guiding them to meet the requirements of the current legislation and licencing.
@@paulrpalmer Thank you soo much Paul, I took on placement with AbbVie just now and after this final year of student I will be able to get a full role/job out of it and hopefully going towards the route that you recommended. Thanks a million again!
Hi Paul, really informative video. I am a UK based pharmacist looking to become a QP, I would really appreciate some advice on how one would go about it. thanks!
Hi @shaylenpatel402 you will need a sponsor, a QP in the same professional body as you. A company normally to help get the experience you need, then complete the application pass the Viva and apply for a role as QP. If you need more help let me know
Hello Paul is there an easy way to remember all the routine duties that the QP must ensure before certification. And how do you deal with supply chain maps post brexit
Hi paul! Thanks for the video! I graduated from Pharmacy school and have worked in Pharmaceutical company as a QP in non EU country now for more than 2 years.(it means i am not from EU😅) I'd like to be a QP in EU. What should I do or prepare to be a QP in EU? And if i get a certificate of QP then i can work in anywhere as a QP in EU? How i could get a certificate of QP?
Hi @ericnam4537 the first thing you will need is to look into how you gain eligibility to work in the EU. Then you will need to have your degree verified as equivalent to an EU degree, in EU (not UK) it must be a Pharmacy degree, in some cases its Masters and others Bachelors depending on the country, more require Masters than Bachelors. When this is verified apply for a position as a QP, its likely they will want you to join as a trainee then after initial training and acceptance they should promote you to be a QP and be named on the licence provided your experience is accepted, otherwise you will need to complete 1 year in post. In the UK its different you have a choice of degree, Pharmacy, Biology and Chemistry which will need to be verified again plus post graduate training, you have to join the relevant professional body and submit an application to be eligible to be a QP then take the Viva then apply for a position as a QP to be named. If you have further questions please let me know.
Thank you for your reply! I know there are some qualification requirements for being QPs and one of them is working experience in pharmaceutical company. So is it necessary to work in the company in QC or production fields before being QPs? And don't you think that it isn't enough to have that minimum working experience in QC or Production team to carry out QP's duties?
Good evening Sir, can you kindly share your email please? Am a recent pharmacy graduate and want to become a QP, would love if you can guide me. Thank you. Best Regards.
hey paul thank you for the great video very informative. Could you please tell me are there any legal dangers to being a QP? for example can a QP be sued by a customer? if so how often do you hear about this happening and what can a QP do in this situation. I am currently working in the pharma sector for 5 years and thinking about studying to be a QP soon however the thought of being sued is putting me off! any advice? thanks!
Hi Monke, I have never heard of a QP being sued. However I'm not sure it would go there since if you are contracting you are usually required to establish indemnity insurance. If you are employed then employment law would be applicable rather than being sued. You should bear in mind the company appoints the QP so if anyone were to be sued it's more likely to be the company as they take overall responsibility.
