The girlfriend is definitely not a scapegoat lmao. It was definitely wrong for the plaintiff to only charge the mom and not her son and being so spiteful but the girlfriend is not some martyr because the grandma wanted rent and some of her money back.
The Grandma's not as narcissist yeah keep saying that the sun doesn't pay when at the end of the day he is paying with his time and his work he still has to build in that home that he stays in he still has to buy materials for that home that he stays in understand so last time I checked if you're buying materials and you're doing a job you're supposed to get paid for it which means that chances are they take away the material pay and his time that he works and make that into a fee so she wouldn't have to pay more than 500 which she said including when she left didn't pay from November to March didn't leave right away in March left March 11th to be exact didn't get no 30 days notice but I see how it is our people who like to use people and not pay

Really 500.00 in rent is practically free( and was only paying 300.00 at first). . But the son should pay half( at least). I wish my rent was 500.00!!!

Or is it funny that he's building and buying materials for the house that he's staying and which means that it will cost just as much to buy and then work for free to fix a house that's so technically he is paying his keep you don't realize that do you or do you just think oh because she's just paying it is her son is how it's supposed to be like he is working for his keep and might not be actual money exchange in from hand to hand but as all three of them stated he has to still buy materials and then fix up the place and we don't know how big this house is let's be real so if he's buying materials and everything like that he has to make sure that everything is correct and make sure that everything works out right that's a lot of work and time and money so therefore he most likely is paying

Not only could it have cost the agony of never seeing her grandchild again, she didn't have the brains to consider what else her lawsuit could do to her sons family. She undoubtedly took food from her grandchilds mouth, clothes off their back, diapers, and everything else that is needed to take care of a child. Not just any child, HER grandchild. I have 8 grandchildren and I could never nor would I ever charge their parents rent, that's money that they should have been saving up to get their own home. If she had to charge it, she could have put it in a savings account to help them get on their feet. There's also no way in hell that I could ever charge them for watching my own grandchildren, especially if I didn't work and was home anyway which sounds like she was. I know that they need to learn how to take care of finances and I am all for helping them see what the real world and cost of raising a child will be. But I also think that she could've put this money away to help them at a later time when they really needed help. They obviously weren't doing great financially or they wouldn't have been living with her. She even sued her for gas, come on, she's the grandmother of their child, helping out is what grandparents and parents do. If she was going to charge them for child care then they should have taken the child to a real daycare. There's nothing wrong with the grandparents watching the children, but if you are going to pay for it anyway then put them in a reputable daycare that will give the child the skills they need later when they start school. Daycare is a great place for children to learn social skills, sharing, make friends and so many other skills that they are not going to be exposed to by spending everyday with grandma. Even though I am retired and could care for my grandchildren, I don't unless it's an emergency situation. They need to be around other children their own age and learn that there's more to life than just grandma. I love my grandchildren and enjoy caring for them every chance I get, but I know that my job is to be grandma, and they need to be interacting with other children before they are in school so they know that it's okay to be away from mommy, daddy, and grandma and spend the day with other kids their own age without having a breakdown because they've never been in the situation. It also eliminates a lot of separation anxiety.
Help your children out if they need it and you are able to help. Don't become their enabler to by playing the role of parents, grandparents, live-in landlord, and nanny. Be someone who they can ask for help in a tough time, otherwise enjoy being what you are, parents and grandparents who don't charge for spending time with your family, especially the little ones, they grow up way to fast.

I'm a mom I have a 3 year old daughter and I was still pay my parents my siblings her aunties and uncles to watch her because at the end of the day I know that she is a lot of work a child is a lot of work and if she's living with somebody who is that person's child most likely he's not going to pay rent because that's his home automatically people want to keep on going at him for not paying anything with one they both agree while all three of them agree that he builds things in the house so technically he might be spending more money and building cuz you got to get the supplies and materials and everything so he could be spending more with building than what is but no one wants to think of that and to they have a child so yeah the rent is going to be more that's common sense people who are entitled is going to feel likewhat the grandmother did was unfair but what she did was correct she's keeping them responsible for knowing how to keep bills paid on time making sure that that's because you have a child doesn't mean that you have to stay behind she still try to help even though the daughter-in-law because that's basically what she is I stop paying rent even though she did lose a job she did get another job that didn't pay as much but she didn't pay rent for at least 5 months and she didn't get kicked out she left without them saying that there was an issue without saying that they was arguing she didn't complain about it but most are and ya not living her life it's sad because Grandma did nothing wrong but it seems like she's the one who's getting more talk to in the son talk to because they want to be responsible and teach how things should be

He will always pick loser women and be stuck paying child support for them. Hopefully he dumped her and only has to pay child support and weekend visits with his child. The defendant is a loser.

He is equally responsible for creating both of his kids. I’m sure he’s aware of condoms. The 2 yr. old was conceived within a couple of months of the beginning of their relationship (she moved in when he was 27 and now he’s 29, and the child is 2 years old).
He definitely does NOT seem like the more responsible of the two parents. When he met her he was living with his mom due to stipulations required in his divorce (his words to Doug). It sounds like he was having trouble of some kind (drugs/alcohol/crime?) and he had to live there in order to have visitation with his older son. (And I admire him for doing whatever it took in order to continue to see that son.) And from the sound of it he may not be visiting the older son much now because he is only at his mom’s house every other week.
Neither one of them has made the best decisions. At the very least they weren’t financially stable enough to have a child. But he was the more irresponsible one because he was already a father of one child and unable to support himself. She made a bad choice when she got pregnant with a guy that irresponsible.

My heart goes out to the defendant who told the truth and conceded to the debt she owed. She could have lied which would have created even more friction between her and the grandmother. Instead, she chose family/peace over money, the total opposite of what the grandmother chose. 😢
Gran is a pill. All my friends babysit their grandkids for free and are happy to do so. The young woman needs to move far away from these ppl.
They are a beautiful, soft-spoken couple, and I only hope they can put this nastiness behind them and prosper.

Half that debt should of been the sons so i think the Judge should of told the mother if you want the other half sue the childs father. Mom paid rent for herself(rpice gouged her) dad should pay the other half for the baby. and half the childcare.
She told lies is why she lost and has to pay back rent. She signed a leased with the promise to pay every month and did not. She is not even sorry for it either. I feel for her baby daddy, for he is stuck with her for years to come till their child turns 18 or 21.

@@kittyfan I think on special occasions or to give mom and dad a break, a grand parent can and should step up and watch the kids, ansolutly free, but as for a full time baby sitter, many grandma's and grand dads have a life outside the home, so definitely pay them for their time, as lonf as agreed upon $, even if it's token money, not as much if you had to pay a real sitter.

@@sph1226If she needs that money to pay the mortgage and utilities, or even if she doesn’t need it but just feels she is owed that, she should still be including her son in the lawsuit. The babysitting bill is their joint responsibility. Also the plaintiff said that she charged the defendant $50 more than she charged her other son & girlfriend “because SHE had the child”. So that means she (plaintiff) is charging the defendant for the grandchild’s rent but not charging the boy’s father anything for his own son’s rent.
It’s also just ridiculous to charge anything extra for the 2 year old. From birth to the age of two, how much did he cost in utilities? Did he take long hot showers? Was he charging video rentals to the cable bill? Was he awake while everyone else was asleep, keeping the lights on or turning up the heat? No, for the first year he took tiny baby baths, then really shallow baths, probably at a cooler temperature than the adults. The only extra utility use I can think of that a baby might cause is a couple of extra loads of laundry a week (unless they used cloth diapers, which would require more loads and more hot water). And maybe a tad more electricity to be used on heating up bottles/baby food.

The son should help his girlfriend out. He's not 19, he's 27! Everybody's paying rent except the 2nd son. Also the fact that the mother said, "My son AND I went to file(for custody)" says A LOT about the mother. Plus, she's suing for every single penny she can wring out of the girlfriend. Disgusting.

Exactly! When JM first started that sentence you could see the plaintiff’s little smile - she actually thought that JM was being sympathetic about all the trouble this poor, unappreciated mom/grandma had gone through, as though she agreed with the plaintiff! But halfway through the sentence she heard where JM was really going and realized that JM was right. She looked so upset that I actually felt a bit of sympathy for her.

Why should she babysit on a regular basis for free? I can see a few times a month. That is a personal choice. And clearly she doesn’t want to for free. She can always pay for a daycare. See how much that costs.

I am sorry folks, but I think the only person to blame is the defendant for not realizing her potential as a beautiful young hard working mother. Plaintiff will eventually realize there is so much more in life than money, but not taking responsibility for raising a man who can not only financially hold a household and speak up and defend the mother of his child is priceless.

Being a full time parent( or nanny, would impede a personal life. To each their own but to expect grandparents to give up their freedoms/ life to become a full time nanny, ( without pay), is beyond, entitled). Taking care of children, is one of the hardest jobs in the world! I don't think elderly people need the burden! It's not their responsibility!
Yes, everyone is different.... I'm just saying, that for me, once a person gets married, has children and then grandchildren, they no longer have a life of their own; rather, their life is now family life and that is the way it remains until death. Such a life is not a hardship nor a burden... I have found being both a father and a grandfather, a magical and joyful experience... a real blessing. A grandparent's leisure time, in part, is having fun with their grandchildren.... a grandparent's hobbies, in part, are things they do with their grandchildren. If the adult children need a bit of assistance with their own children (the grandchildren), we grandparents will jump in and help; but we don't charge them money for it; at least none that I know would. My wife and I love hanging with our children and our grandchildren.

JJ definitely would of split that in half and said “go get the rest from your wimpy son”. That would of been the correct verdict.

But she admitted to owning it. Unfortunately legally it was the right decision. Anything else would have felt good but it wouldn’t have been a correct legal decision.

My mom agreed to watch my youngest for 2 years, and I paid her for it. She needed to work part time to help cover the bills. Me paying her to babysit, helped her and me at the same time.

The defendant was totally honest. I feel bad for her. She's with a mama's boy that still didn't have enough balls to defend her at the end. Whenever this show aired, I pray that anyone that knows the plaintiff and her son really let them know what pieces of 💩 they really are. I wish there was some kind of bankruptcy the defendant could file just so the plaintiff don't get a penny and it wouldn't damage her credit. Wishful thinking. Dang! That plaintiff and her family are terrible!
She lived there 2 years and rent goes up 4 times and grandma charges her for watching her grandchild! Call me crazy but this would most definitely destroy her chances of having a relationship with my child. The fact that the boyfriend wasnt paying anything or helping out says a lot too. smh

The look on the plaintiffs face at the judges final comment was priceless. She needed the reality check of what she just did. As for the defendant I hope she grew to realize she deserves better
This case really pissed me off. The mom is wrong, the son is wrong, and the judge was also wrong in her ruling.

Judge Marilyn really didn’t want to give the plaintiff the money, but under the eyes of the law she had to. 😔 We all, including the Judge, agree that the plaintiff is a disgrace of a human and her son is a total failure. I hope the defendant has long since left that family and realized she is worthy of so much more.

That gavel ECHOED. This is one of the only times I can remember in a tough family case where the judge didn't say "Good luck everybody" after her ruling. She seemed REALLY disgusted with the plaintiff.

I'm 3/4 of the way thru this case and I am truly pissed at #1 - the boyfriend for letting his girlfriend pay the rent for her and their child, #2 - the boyfriend for allowing his mom to file for custody of his girlfriend's two year old, #3 - his mother for bring a callous woman who didn't raise men to be men but spoiled brats who live in their parents home with their girlfriends! This woman has emasculated her sons and her husband! Where is the woman's husband in all this? 😊
I originally had a different take on the husband, I thought maybe he was disgusted with what she was doing and didn't want to support her. But after reading your post I think it was more that he handed the family jewels over to her when they got married and she told him to stay home.
Husband probably didn’t play a big part in his upbringing that’s why the son is like that. However, the husband could have done something if he didn’t like how his wife was raising their sons.

The son needs to grow up some but the mother is awful. Who charges there own daughter babysitting fees. Any grandmother would gladly want to take there grandchild and spend time with them. There shouldn’t be a price for that. The only thing that mom should be asking for is the rent money.
What is the grandmother needs a job? A lot of grandparents can afford to stay home and take care of a grandchild for free, but if they needed to work, would make sense for the parents to pay the grandmother instead of another daycare, so there’s nothing wrong with it, but in this case, I think the grandmother was just greedy.
They obviously dont have much money, and Grandma took that money that helps feed, clothes, and shelters her Grandson. Way to go !

This was a SCAM set up agreed by both parties before the case - if I was the judge I would have sent them both home with nothing - you want money sue your son
