Not a great list. Luca Blight is NOT the end game boss of Suikoden 2 either. He's about midway, and the sudden spike in difficulty is what makes him memorable. By all means he SHOULD have been the first form of a final boss, and most players first run through got ruined by him. Brutally.
It's weird, I also remember him as the last boss. Probably because he was an asshole, and everything after him was a cakewalk. I also remember something about that fight that had to do with 108 stars and getting Tir and Gremio.

You got to look at the following factors: -How difficult it is to "cheese the boss" -Does it legitimately exploit gameplay mechanics -Does it watch for any attempts to completely migitate a certain aspect of the boss and counter it painfully? Demi Fiend and Elizabeth fits because while they are difficult they also punish players for trying to immunity cheese the game.
Satan it's just puzzle boss and you can spare some sacrifice items and do some side quests to have a good armor and accessories to fight Mem Aleph unlike Demi Fiend who actually need some luck do defeat.
JC Little I know I’m 9 months late but really? Some luck to beat demi fiend. You gotta god pray for your luck he doesn’t put your ass in sleep and use Gaea rage and the way he manipulates you and you manipulate him back
Tyrant Overlord Baal from Disgaea Dimension 2. Requires an absolute phenomenal amount of grinding and prep work ....... even by Disgaea standards (which is saying a heck of a lot). And a ridiculous and counter intuitive strategy to actually fight him (which mostly involves hitting your own allies for an eternity, to boost your combo damage so you can do more then scratch damage on the tyrant). And that's just for the EASY version of him. On the max power version of him, you can basically double the grinding and prep work.
Actually any of the endgame bosses from any Disgaea is ridiculous. At 140 hours in I think I had Laharl at level 1200 or so. I can't even imagine how much time it would have taken to reach level cap and even THINK about trying to fight those bosses lol
disgaea games grinding in the post game is all finding out ways to break it. ive done D4 end game in like less then 80 hours for example with some half decently thought out planning. instead of focusing on just leveling up focus on thing like statisticians which multiple EXP gains level up OP items to level up even level 1 characters post reincarnations for example and suddenly your leveling up to 9999 in like a few fights lol.
I wish it only took me 6 hours to beat Yiazmat! I was looking at 7+ hours for sure. Obviously some of that time was taking some breaks, but I did not envision the fight taking that long when I started it up!
The even better thing about this is that both FFXI and FFXIV had similar HNM bosses of this caliber until a Linkshell had members get physically ill on a 24hr run at Pandemonium Warden. SE had to change stats and impose a two hour despawn timer on their MMO bosses because of the widespread news this generated. Was 24 hours and still not completed over kill for 36 people? Sure. Is an enemy so hyped actually being *that* fierce a contender an awesome experience? You better believe it.
There is a catch though. You have to run back to it before it adds all its buffs else it heals over the break damage cap. I tend to try get it to start channel a move and run back to crystal and save between 2 files just in case I don't make it back.
I have beaten him twice, once on the IZJS version when the job system was japanese exclusive and once on the Zodiac age. It took me 1-2 hours both times. Have a ninja with yagyu darkblade+genji glove+berzerk+bravery and look at him do 10k+ 5 combo attacks constantly (also have a guy with decoy and reverse and take control of the healer to manually heal someone with curaga if needed because the reverse will make curajas kill the guy with the decoy).
Luca Blight is an example of how a Final Boss SHOULD be designed. Epic, takes time, feeling nearly indomitable, and ultimately rewarding when finally overcome them.
Lingering Will is legit a joke compared to the "Mysterious Figure" in KH: Birth by Sleep, who one shots you with ANY of his moves even at max level, and clones himself into 5 copies who can also all 1 shot you. Not to mention you can stun lock cheese the LW fight.
The worst part about Yiazmat is if you don't prepare accordingly, you will full cure his _entire HP bar_ if brought down to less than a quarter. That alone is just sadistic. Personally, I never found Luca or Redrum too much of a challenge.
with elizabeth, it's more like she'll go berserk and dish out a 9999 megidolaon if 1. anyone accompanies the protagonist to the fight 2. you use Armageddon and it does not finish her off 3. you nullify/reflect/absorb any of her elemental/physical/light/dark attacks or nullify all status ailments, only exceptions being her megidolaon turn, that will kill you outright if infinity isn't cast or countering her physical attacks, meaning, the list of personas allowed in said fight are limited to ones that a. are only resistant to her elemental/light/dark skills when said pattern comes (bring homonculus in large quantities, they'll prevent a 1 shot from her light/dark phase), forsaken will allows you to avoid all but poison, she won't go berserk over this. b. do not nullify/reflect/absorb any physical damage (as she'll use these at random aside from her megidolaon turn) c. the following personas are absolutely required to even have a chance in this fight - vishnu and ananta for the fusion skill infinity and helel and satan for Armageddon (can't finish her off w/o it) It is highly recommended to have Orpheus Telos for this fight as he resists everything sans megidolaon, only way to obtain him however is to max all social links in the game in a single playthrough.
Because he so thoroughly destroyed peace in the region that even his death couldn't restore it; thus he mocks you with his final breath at your notion that fighting him will end the war. That the war still rages on after him is a testament to the destruction he wrought.
Ben Cornell It's probably because of the PCSX2 emulator. You can increase the resolution as high as you want. To add extra blur effect, you can use the Motion Blur effect from the emulator itself.
And the fact that Luca Blight isn't even the final boss really. You go through this like half way into the game. I remember the first time being like 'well this ended rather abruptly' but nope, Luca not even end game.
you can actually just use 8 counters and 8 mimes and use Omnislash/Urgamax with a beefed up Cloud/Barret(Power sources) and kill him pretty well after he tries to smack you. People have also made materia combos that don't even require button input, or just use like 8 mastered counter attacks on anyone.
Back before Final Mix came out in America, the most horrifyingly hard Kingdom Hearts boss available to English speakers was Sephiroth in KH1. When he appeared, I went "fuck, this is so awesome!" Then I died less than a minute into the fight, and I went "fuck, this is so hard!". Goddamn.
Looking back, Sephiroth is a total wuss compared to the bosses the games would later add. I got to the point where leveling was taking too long, so I'd go back to the colosseum & beat Sephiroth multiple times in one sitting to get XP. His Sin Harvest is easy to prevent with superglide & strike raid. You should only have Elixirs & or Ethers on you + you can guard his regular attacks if you time it just as he disappears. Unlike conventional enemies, my advice for anyone having trouble against Sephiroth in either KH, to simply unequip your combo pluses & go into the fight with at most, only a four hit combo. As I'm sure many are aware, all the damage is in your combo ender. Sure there are weapons & abilities that boost the finishing hit based on the number of hits...but Sephiroth escapes from lengthy combos via teleport. You wanna maximize your damage during the short time he lets you hit him. As for game specifics, Meteor isn't too hard to deal with. Enough defense & awareness makes it the least of your worries. Just glide in circles at the peak of your jump height, possibly with Aeroga on for good measure. For KH2, it becomes sort of laughable when you apply Reflect magic. His dark orbs that appear around Sora? Reflect those when they close in. Time it right & he'll teleport into the reflected explosion, doing solid damage and allowing you to land more hits. Strike Raid should be your main attack ability in both games, for the easy ranged hits it gives. The invincibility it offers is awesome in KH1 when he uses flame pillars or later in the fight when his attacks become unpredictable. In closing: Dodge Roll, Super Glide & Aerial Recovery are your friends. Trust them & it's a cakewalk. He is a lot of fun to fight though. Nobody else really has that atmosphere in their fights. (Seriously though, use Reflect)
I'm surprised you didn't mention any of the Fell Arms bosses from the Tales of series. I took on the one in Tales of Vesperia, and he was an insane, three-part challenge! His second phase has a Mystic Arte (basically his ultimate ability) that sets your entire party to 1hp, and his THIRD phase's Mystic Arte basically uses your entire party's Mystic Artes against you, killing all but your main character and setting HIM to 1hp (if I remember right).
+rapsody230 Because you will become exhausted from the amount of time it takes to beat said boss, meaning that you become more likely to make fatal mistakes the longer the fight goes on.
though you could literally chip away at his hp, run to the save point, save, reset the game and his hp will be where you had him last the next time you play the game.
Bigge1724 I literally fight Yiazmat while watching a movie (I let the gambit system do the work) , I just check from time to time to see how things are going.
+Karsten Ngai-Natsuhara (Videogamer80) Sho was a pain on normal and its entirely because I used shockwave type pins. I didn't know that 'physical' pins triggered his teleport. But other than that, yea he was mostly just an annoyance. However, Ultimate Mode was still a fair bit of fun in how challenging it could be. Kitaniji was especially annoying on Ultimate.
Karsten Ngai-Natsuhara I didn't have much trouble with him even on ultimate but I actually had to look up a walkthrough for ironface. How in the hell was I supposed to know to lure specific enemies to a certain area without killing them, or to step on her shadow to damage her for one phase because she stole my attacks? and I was stuck with my least favorite partner to use. As someone who is bad at riddles and noobish at puzzles, it took more tries to kill her than the friggin super boss.
1. The international version of FF12 has no damage cap limit, so you can hit over 9999, making the yiazmat take way less time. 2. Omega weapon from FF8 was way harder 3. I'm sad you didn't give a mention to the Seraphic Queen, a staple secret optional boss in any Tri-Ace RPG
+MrDyl666 And I've managed to beat them all on Critical, my biggest achievement in gaming ^^......okay who am I kidding, biggest achievement in my whole life -.-
yeah but lingering will takes the cake as the hardest boss in all the kh games because hes tough and has probably one of the best AI's when it comes to boss fights. hes incredibly fun to fight
The first time I beat Elizabeth was during vacation with no internet at my disposal. Just a pen, paper and a lot of frustration trying to figure out her rules so that she doesn't flip out and oneshot me. It felt really unfair.
someone remembered legend of legaia. but ill tell you that boss isnt the hardest. you should try the last boss. not even a fucking match if you didnt grind
I thought final Songi was harder, but the bonus boss was just evil. The final boss just had his massive HP pool. A half hour HP pool...that you had to beat multiple times to see all the endings.
Yeah. It's ridiculous. Im pretty sure my level is high enough to make the story last boss a breeze. But the real last boss can freaking 1 shot me. I remembered when i was 9, i saved inside the dungeon of the real final boss without other save points. I was stranded without a way to grind. I played it again 2 years ago on virtual console and finally managed to finish the game. The feeling is so great like a childhood fear finally being released from myself.
Mem Aleph (SMT Strange Journey) is one of the most rage-inducing to beat. That one unblockable, nigh-unavoidable OHK would make you retry a lot of times before beating her. Luck is all you need on her fight. Plus, never forget the buffs.
Pfft! Yeah right. Try Spiral Draco from the PS3 version. A nine headed monstrosity that revives each head as they are being killed. I have platinumed the game, but only by cheesing him on easy. It is my goal to beat him on normal some day.
Heh, I remember meeting Demifiend in DDS! I thought "Hey, I'm level 70+ across the board, got all them grand skills you need to absolutely murdalize the final boss, I should be able to last a couple of rounds." I was straight up pulverized in 10 seconds. Never went back. I'm good on the self-abuse now, thanks.
I'm surprised how Baal from the Disgaea series is not here. In order to defeat that boss requires massive amount of farming to maximize every weapon and armor to kill him.. What's worse is that in Disgaea 4, you'll have to face multiple of them after you beat him once.
+Warlord X I'm surprised too. The amount of prep work is ridiculous and it's still not even a guarantee that you'll win without coming up with a specific strategy in mind. Anyone who does this going blind is just asking to get their butt handed to them on a sardine platter
(Shudders) Sho, flashbacks to hearing "Too slow" and "Soo Zeta slow" over and over again, tbh I didn't know about the staying still trick to fighting him though
Three of the toughest bosses I've fought in a JRPG have all come from Kingdom Hearts games. 2 from KH 358/2 Days, and 1 from KH 3D. The flying pirate skeleton boss from Neverland and the giant optional Wyvern boss creature in Twilight Town (I believe that's the name, I keep mixing it up with Traverse Town) in 358/2 Days, and Julius in KH 3D
The Fallen from The Last Remnant should be on the list. IIRC It's a mid-game secert boss that not only do you have to grind extensively to beat. But you have to beat within 10 turns or he instantly kills everybody. After beating this boss I swept through the entire game so easily the final "secert" boss died in a few turns.
Funny enough you can cheese Yiazmat by popping your PS2 disk tray when he's charging his instant kill and he will be stuck in the cast time forever then you can just basic attack him to death and put the disk back in when he's about to die.
Why isn't there any footage of their best attacks? Why do I want to watch a video about the toughest bosses, and watch attacks that do next to no damage?
+Lorenzo Innocente I can vouch for the demi-fiend...you play as him in shin megami tensei nocturne. If he wanted he could make that fight harder too since he could summon 3 demons at once.
+sam fisher The best part about that boss fight was the theme that plays. To your party, he's the most brutal, relentless, and trying encounter in the game. To him? Your party is nothing but a standard enemy encounter, and the regular battle theme from Nocturne that plays is testament to that.
Jerails Demi-Fiend was sandbagging real hard. If he really did care he would’ve brought his endgame demons like Metatron, Lilith, Raidou and his high level skills like Deadly Fury and of course, Freikugel.
Gaza is tough, but with a well leveled spoon healing spell, you're fine. Yiazamat took me 6 hours to beat, having to exit the arena often. That doesn't include the 3 days it took to grind to level 99 for all characters, nor the time grinding for all the necessary equipment.
to the people who are finding where are THEIR difficult bosses from their favorite games; I mean, c'mon guys!! that Demi-Fiend right there was #LEGIT compared to others xD
I think the hamsters from Valkyrie Profile outclass pretty much all of them. If you're not really, REALLY well prepared to fight them, they will kill you in just one turn without any effort. And don't be fooled by their minuscule size, that's just another advantage of theirs, as this makes them hard as hell to hit with any combos.
+MidBoss666 Dont take the list to serious any die hard fan of JRPG could name stronger bosses then these. So yeah the hamsters deserve their spot more then some of these bosses. But so do more bosses its just that the makers dont know every boss in existence
+Dustwake Don't take this comment to serious either ;3 (even more so, I dare say my comment lacked any swearing, whining, allcaps, etc. to make it look like a butthurt rant) While I am well aware that not every overly hard boss can be included in a 7:30 minute long video and likewise, I am well aware that the creators don't know each and every hard boss out there. Hence why I'm merely noting the existence of one, and my opinion that they are harder than those listed. Cause for one, we have Elidibs from FF Tactics, who's not only overly storng, but to add insult to injury, frequently casts Poison Frog on your whole party (which infuses you with those very status effects), and then there's Rafflesian from Megaman X: Command mission, who is not only strong, but levels up after each turn, becoming steadily more powerful to the point when you simply have no chance of winning, as well as countless others, but I decided to stick with just that one boss. After all, the creators wont know about a certain boss, unless the viewres tell them of their existence, eh? :3
Well, I'm glad someone got something out of it! I honestly just got bored. I had no idea it was going to take anything like that long when I started it.
Mysterious Figure from Kingdom Hearts BBS has been one of the toughest for me personally. As far as Persona/SMT goes, I feel like the overall difficulty level is pretty high...
i heard you mention yazimat's 50 billion HP, but i didn't hear you mention his numerous insta death attacks (basic attack included), or that his arena is filled with lethal AF traps.
than was actually just a misclick.on my part, i did mean to say 50 million, but the thing about being able to leave in the middle of the boss fight is that if you're gone to long he regenerate hp....Marilu Berto
The Lingering Will - boss that makes sephiroth's fight seem like a walk in the park almost as hard as the Terra-Xehanort boss fight on proud mode from BBS
Five hours for one boss? I have no freaking time for that. That game is definitely only for people who have absolutely nothing to do the whole day long.
+AzzurrrroAqua You actually don´t have to sit through that, you can leave,go save, turn the ps2 off,and then just come back later to continue. You just shouldn´t take too much time going to the savepoint and coming back to him, because THEN he starts to regenerate his health. That being said, ffxii can truly require some ungodly amount of grinding due to it´s difficulty spikes.
+Zecendia you don't even have to do that, you just set up your gambits properly and you go watch a movie... or two. That game masturbates, all you do is walk in between fights.
ma3lstr0m5t0rm That would imply that I DO set up gambits. Which I don´t. Because I´m lazy. (I have yet to actually get around to fighting that HP nightmare,so the only 2 gambits i use atm are attacking and healing at a certain hp percentage)
mad respect to the Japanese devs who put so much work and thought into creating these bosses. so many great ideas come to life for our pleasure (the fans)
luca blight is a midboss :( and he pwned me a lot of time before finally beating him with adequate strategy and grinding. when the cutscene after him fades and i didnt see ending, I was baffled.
Forgot to mention that when the number one boss on this list drops to a certain HP level it'll try and cast a to spell heal itself to full if you don't stop it
+Daeven Ville I know right I was waiting for The Tyrant Overlord Baal to hit this list, but I imagine if GamesRadar picked every JRPG superboss then this video would be a few hours if not days long.. Yiazmat though....(shudders)
The problem with Miguel wasn’t the exposition, it’s that he was the only battle with serious A.I., and would use his double turn to weaken the MDef of foes weak to his element to OHKO them, the only character who could resist it has little defense, and you could revive only two characters in battle by that point. Oh, and he tells you beforehand that he really doesn’t want to fight, so he hints at holding back.
No love for Velius from Final Fantasy Tactics? Many a young lad learned the importance of backup saves that day, because Velius will send you right back to the beginning of the game.
Yep...Good old Demi-Fiend. In fact if you get down to it, this list would be pretty much all SMT bosses (that is unless you consider the old-school dungeon crawler games as well)
+Salem Al-Mansoori ya, he just midboss (but insanely though for a midboss) All I remember is duel with Joey in final battle, I forget the giant boss before Joey though.
Well, the video also said Yiazmat is from Final Fantasy XII International even though he's present in the original version of the game, so it could just be a mistake.
Even the infamous Red Star cheese isn't immune to getting screwed over by Girimekhala, Cu Chulainn, or Arahabaki, or a failed Dormina from Pixie (unless you have Close Call set and Demi spends his second turn summoning Ara, in which case it MAY be possible to recover...)

Just beat lingering will on critical mode. Putting that on my resume.
Now do it at level 1 and wait for the phone calls.
All these bosses are hard, but I feel that Lingering Will is the only FUN one. Super enjoyable boss, also gratz!
Goodluck beating him on Lv1 Critical and No Equipment.
Gomer Kaine and i thought vanitas remnant was hard
vanitas remnant is WAY harder tf are you talkin about lol once you figure out what skills are needed you can cheese tf out of lingering will to the point of just using him for grinding synthesis materials lol

JAVELIN RAIN
The Fiend has returned and has become even harder to beat
shin megami tensei franchise king of jrpg
Mike Custer
It's certainly the hardest JRPG franchise, at least.
Mainly op persona. Yes
how is smt the hardest jrpg franchise? Are you dense? Any SaGa game has harder bosses.

Firion316
matador is simply a boss that was designed to break you out of bad JRPG habits of using beatdown manuvers of attack and heal tank
Firion316 I'm suprise the eathirial queen from. star ocean 1 2 or 3 and radiata story's ain't on hear she got between 4 million to 10 mil hp. I know she has 10 and a half hp in radiata story since I remember fighting her for over 3 hours and run in through 99 revives and 99 high potions and the lesser potions to a point I fought her by myself for over 30 min lol
You got to look at the following factors:
-How difficult it is to "cheese the boss"
-Does it legitimately exploit gameplay mechanics
-Does it watch for any attempts to completely migitate a certain aspect of the boss and counter it painfully?
Demi Fiend and Elizabeth fits because while they are difficult they also punish players for trying to immunity cheese the game.
MrAsaqe I found Satan from Digital Devil Saga 2 and Lucifer from Devil Survivor harder than Elisabeth
To think that to Demi Fiend, he sees you no more than just a normal encounter. That’s both badass yet scary to those facing him.
He's the player, you're just a random encounter.
Good that you put in Demi-Fiend, now add Satan from DDS2 and Mem Aleph from Strange Journey and this'd be an accurate list.
of course Stephen shits on all of them
Satan it's just puzzle boss and you can spare some sacrifice items and do some side quests to have a good armor and accessories to fight Mem Aleph unlike Demi Fiend who actually need some luck do defeat.
JC Little I know I’m 9 months late but really?
Some luck to beat demi fiend. You gotta god pray for your luck he doesn’t put your ass in sleep and use Gaea rage and the way he manipulates you and you manipulate him back
"Speedruns" of Persona 3 and 4 take 15-18 hrs. How the heck are you gona tell me it takes people 1 or 2 days to beat a Persona game?
You gotta love JRPGs for their amazing Endgame content.
K Street it’s starting to mirrow the west in some jrpgs....
MrEvilbyte yes i was hoping someone would bring him up
MrEvilbyte Damn right. Didn't he have an even stonger prinny mode?
I love how shin megami tensei (which includes persona), takes up a few entries on this list. Thanks Atlas.
Luca Blight fuck yes, one of the best villains ever, he is not the final boss but wolf rune aint got shit on him.
I wish it only took me 6 hours to beat Yiazmat! I was looking at 7+ hours for sure. Obviously some of that time was taking some breaks, but I did not envision the fight taking that long when I started it up!
Thankfully, you can go to the save crystal, save and then resume the fight from where you left it! :)
I tend to try get it to start channel a move and run back to crystal and save between 2 files just in case I don't make it back.
you can beat him within 3 hrs though
Personally, I never found Luca or Redrum too much of a challenge.
with elizabeth, it's more like she'll go berserk and dish out a 9999 megidolaon if
1. anyone accompanies the protagonist to the fight
2. you use Armageddon and it does not finish her off
3. you nullify/reflect/absorb any of her elemental/physical/light/dark attacks or nullify all status ailments, only exceptions being her megidolaon turn, that will kill you outright if infinity isn't cast or countering her physical attacks, meaning, the list of personas allowed in said fight are limited to ones that
a. are only resistant to her elemental/light/dark skills when said pattern comes (bring homonculus in large quantities, they'll prevent a 1 shot from her light/dark phase), forsaken will allows you to avoid all but poison, she won't go berserk over this.
b. do not nullify/reflect/absorb any physical damage (as she'll use these at random aside from her megidolaon turn)
c. the following personas are absolutely required to even have a chance in this fight - vishnu and ananta for the fusion skill infinity and helel and satan for Armageddon (can't finish her off w/o it)
It is highly recommended to have Orpheus Telos for this fight as he resists everything sans megidolaon, only way to obtain him however is to max all social links in the game in a single playthrough.
You can't one-shot her with Armaggeddon?
How's that possible?
@@hiddenkalpa Her HP is 20000, Armageddon only does 9999 damage. Go figure.
Luca Blight was not the final boss of Suikoden 2
Because he so thoroughly destroyed peace in the region that even his death couldn't restore it; thus he mocks you with his final breath at your notion that fighting him will end the war. That the war still rages on after him is a testament to the destruction he wrought.
+DarrylCross Correct, but again, he is not the final required boss of Suikoden II
Was the Kingdom Hearts clip in 60fps? It looked way better than normal.
Probably from the PS3 HD remaster.
that boss only appears in that version right? played the game a lot with my old PS2 and never found him.
on ps2 that boss was only in final mix, which was then exclusive to japan.
fr tho
Ben Cornell It's probably because of the PCSX2 emulator. You can increase the resolution as high as you want. To add extra blur effect, you can use the Motion Blur effect from the emulator itself.
Yo, got reason to believe you filched my Demi-Fiend footage without permission. Let's talk.
And the fact that Luca Blight isn't even the final boss really. You go through this like half way into the game. I remember the first time being like 'well this ended rather abruptly' but nope, Luca not even end game.
Noobie2k7 Yup. You still got the Beast Rune and the final battle duel Jhowy. But Luca is a beast.
No Ruby or Emerald Weapon, nothing from Vagrant Story, no Osma, and no Omega Weapon shoutout!?
Kent Brockman Ruby and Emeral weapon FfVII? they can easily defeated with lucky 7 strategy
Random Dude Very true, but without that stratagem they're very hard.
(Besides that's cheating, :). )
Kent Brockman hey as long as it works mate ;)
The End > Omega Weapon. Selphie > all.
you can actually just use 8 counters and 8 mimes and use Omnislash/Urgamax with a beefed up Cloud/Barret(Power sources) and kill him pretty well after he tries to smack you. People have also made materia combos that don't even require button input, or just use like 8 mastered counter attacks on anyone.
Back before Final Mix came out in America, the most horrifyingly hard Kingdom Hearts boss available to English speakers was Sephiroth in KH1.
When he appeared, I went "fuck, this is so awesome!"
Then I died less than a minute into the fight, and I went "fuck, this is so hard!".
Why people still think (both players and game designers) that long boss = hard?
+rapsody230 Because you will become exhausted from the amount of time it takes to beat said boss, meaning that you become more likely to make fatal mistakes the longer the fight goes on.
If you mean Yiazmat, it's not just long. It's a hard fight that is an endurance challenge on top of that.
though you could literally chip away at his hp, run to the save point, save, reset the game and his hp will be where you had him last the next time you play the game.
Unless you took too much time getting out of the arena, in which case he heals to full.
Bigge1724 I literally fight Yiazmat while watching a movie (I let the gambit system do the work) , I just check from time to time to see how things are going.
You missed one real nasty sob, Lucifer from Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
Satan from dds 2
3:45 As soon as you did that last aerial recovery I turned my head and closed my eyes for another fallen player.
Has no one mention that the Demi-fiend boss fight theme is nocturnes normal battle theme
I don't know, but I've never found sho minamimoto, or even any of twewy very hard.
+Karsten Ngai-Natsuhara (Videogamer80) Phantera cantus way more difficult lol
+Karsten Ngai-Natsuhara (Videogamer80) Sho was a pain on normal and its entirely because I used shockwave type pins. I didn't know that 'physical' pins triggered his teleport. But other than that, yea he was mostly just an annoyance. However, Ultimate Mode was still a fair bit of fun in how challenging it could be. Kitaniji was especially annoying on Ultimate.
+Ervan Andreas Especially if you're playing it for the first time
Hanekoma wasn't actually a breeze.
2. Omega weapon from FF8 was way harder
3. I'm sad you didn't give a mention to the Seraphic Queen, a staple secret optional boss in any Tri-Ace RPG
Kingdom hearts had a ton of difficult bosses
+MrDyl666 I remember when I first fight Sephiroth in KH 2, I just sat there in awe.
+MrDyl666 And I've managed to beat them all on Critical, my biggest achievement in gaming ^^......okay who am I kidding, biggest achievement in my whole life -.-
Took me about three hours to beat the lingering will... RIP
Honestly I am kind of proud that it toke me just 30 tries (and a long time of preparation) to beat Lingering will on critical.
yeah but lingering will takes the cake as the hardest boss in all the kh games because hes tough and has probably one of the best AI's when it comes to boss fights. hes incredibly fun to fight
The first time I beat Elizabeth was during vacation with no internet at my disposal. Just a pen, paper and a lot of frustration trying to figure out her rules so that she doesn't flip out and oneshot me. It felt really unfair.
Just attack him as fast as you can and wait to him to counter before hit 10k and armageddon bam easy
someone remembered legend of legaia. but ill tell you that boss isnt the hardest. you should try the last boss. not even a fucking match if you didnt grind
+Genrey Lino Gonzales if I remember correctly the hardest boss on that game is lapis
Wait, Legend of Legaia is on Virtual Console? that would explain why the game isn't on PSN like I've been hoping.
lapis is the hardest boss
Mem Aleph (SMT Strange Journey) is one of the most rage-inducing to beat. That one unblockable, nigh-unavoidable OHK would make you retry a lot of times before beating her. Luck is all you need on her fight. Plus, never forget the buffs.
Duke from Tales of Vesperia is pretty tough, specifically if you've collected all of the Fell Arms while playing.
Especially when your party is level 50. Most epic boss fight I've ever played.
problem with that game is destruction field exists.
Pfft! Yeah right. Try Spiral Draco from the PS3 version. A nine headed monstrosity that revives each head as they are being killed. I have platinumed the game, but only by cheesing him on easy. It is my goal to beat him on normal some day.
What about Berseria on Chaos first play through? That shit is impossible!
Let's not forget the Cameo battles >.
Heh, I remember meeting Demifiend in DDS! I thought "Hey, I'm level 70+ across the board, got all them grand skills you need to absolutely murdalize the final boss, I should be able to last a couple of rounds."
I was straight up pulverized in 10 seconds.
That's not difficult just tedious
every time you spawn a damn character, it gets damaged too... so yeah... :/ need to grind some more.
+Warlord X I'm surprised too. The amount of prep work is ridiculous and it's still not even a guarantee that you'll win without coming up with a specific strategy in mind. Anyone who does this going blind is just asking to get their butt handed to them on a sardine platter
(Shudders) Sho, flashbacks to hearing "Too slow" and "Soo Zeta slow" over and over again, tbh I didn't know about the staying still trick to fighting him though
yazmath(?) isn't that hard, like, i just auto set my party to heal/revive/atk, and went out to play soccer, when i got home, it was done.
+Neo noah Without a guide? without the ultimate weapons? without a ridiculous grinding?
nope, the game literaly beated he for me. .-.
why do you lie? is anyone giving you some money for this? if so i'm interested.
dude for real, the only boss that was realy hard to kill was that robot on the fu* crystal.
I think they should have used Penance for that spot.
Average Joe Person As someone who isn’t great at video games and is about to start this series, fuck.
FF12 International version: The Judges....
Omg i loveeeeee you added Luca Blight. He was a BEAST!
I always thought the hardest boss in Chrono Cross was Garai. It took me forever to get past him.
1-2 hours? That's cute. I guess this guy never tried killing the online Ur-dragon in dragons dogma.
Christ! Can ya still even access the fight nowadays?
or the pre near wardden in FF online
Yes Ur is still accessible though they had reset him to initial values at some point.
Why isn't there any footage of their best attacks? Why do I want to watch a video about the toughest bosses, and watch attacks that do next to no damage?
+Lorenzo Innocente
I can vouch for the demi-fiend...you play as him in shin megami tensei nocturne.
Heh and Like I said he was one of those players doing a challenge since he didn't summon 3 demons XD
Jerails Demi-Fiend was sandbagging real hard. If he really did care he would’ve brought his endgame demons like Metatron, Lilith, Raidou and his high level skills like Deadly Fury and of course, Freikugel.
hell, demi fiend's gaea rage does like over 10k damage... in a game where you max out at 999 health.
Gaza is tough, but with a well leveled spoon healing spell, you're fine.
Yiazamat took me 6 hours to beat, having to exit the arena often. That doesn't include the 3 days it took to grind to level 99 for all characters, nor the time grinding for all the necessary equipment.
to the people who are finding where are THEIR difficult bosses from their favorite games; I mean, c'mon guys!! that Demi-Fiend right there was #LEGIT compared to others xD
lol i'm stuck on him he literally won't let me have a turn.
Argonisgema Is that the same Demi Fiend from Nocturne?
Jake Theberge yep
@Jake Theberge yep
Great list... not only are those some of the hardest bosses in their respective games but all those games are some of the best JRPGs to every be made.
I miss Legend of Legaia.....bring it on PSN Sony!!
+Dustwake Don't take this comment to serious either ;3 (even more so, I dare say my comment lacked any swearing, whining, allcaps, etc. to make it look like a butthurt rant)
While I am well aware that not every overly hard boss can be included in a 7:30 minute long video and likewise, I am well aware that the creators don't know each and every hard boss out there.
MidBoss666 Fair enough
Ugh, Yiazmat. 4 really boring hours of boss-fight. Strategically not the toughest in FFXII, but good god was it the worst.
yiszma is here because when he has 1 bar left there is a chance he fully heal up back and that is just.......no. Just no.
I damn near broke my controller when that happened. And that was when I had spent 3 and a half hours in that fight.
+WeaponXSigma whaaaaaat!? that boss is crazy ha ha ha ha
PaintBeforeAssembly I love it. I love tesion of draining up each one of his HP bars.
Well, I'm glad someone got something out of it! I honestly just got bored. I had no idea it was going to take anything like that long when I started it.
If a boss makes you curse at them chances are they are hard.
>Comment about a boss I didnt find hard
+U Wot M8 If it was drak souls that would be possible but not in these retarded games.
+U Wot M8 without leveling up on the first try
Aleth >On NG +99
Biplav Shrestha Lol exactly what I was trying to reference
Mysterious Figure from Kingdom Hearts BBS has been one of the toughest for me personally. As far as Persona/SMT goes, I feel like the overall difficulty level is pretty high...
i heard you mention yazimat's 50 billion HP, but i didn't hear you mention his numerous insta death attacks (basic attack included), or that his arena is filled with lethal AF traps.
Actually, it's 50 millions HP, each bar has 1 million hp, but the advantage is you can go out to save and its hp don't go back to normal.
than was actually just a misclick.on my part, i did mean to say 50 million, but the thing about being able to leave in the middle of the boss fight is that if you're gone to long he regenerate hp....Marilu Berto
It's 50,112,254 HP and funny fact he's at level 77
I don't mind the HP, but screw the instant death BS. I kept having really bad RNG when fighting him after his HP dropped around half way.
I actually defeated Demi-Fiend! ...Though I still have yet to beat Satan. He's even more of a nightmare.
So glad to see Legend of Legaia on a list!!! :D
For real. One of the best obscure games out there!
Yes! Even 2nd installment (on PS2) wasn't bad.
^ I totally agree. It was fun!
I wish someone would pick up the game for current gen.
The Lingering Will - boss that makes sephiroth's fight seem like a walk in the park
almost as hard as the Terra-Xehanort boss fight on proud mode from BBS
I saw Nocturne...I had to click.
Five hours for one boss? I have no freaking time for that. That game is definitely only for people who have absolutely nothing to do the whole day long.
+AzzurrrroAqua Well, he is optional...
Zecendia My best friend spent a week hitting Yiazmat for a bit every day. As you said, you don't need to do it in one sitting.
Volume 2 of this episode could definitely include the Octopath Traveler final boss >
Velius Final Fantasy Tactics
mad respect to the Japanese devs who put so much work and thought into creating these bosses. so many great ideas come to life for our pleasure (the fans)
I think he confused Sho and Hanekoma
Even after maxing EVERYTHING in the game...you still need about 40 mins + luck to win Demi-Fiend...
I Love Atlus.
luca blight is a midboss :( and he pwned me a lot of time before finally beating him with adequate strategy and grinding. when the cutscene after him fades and i didnt see ending, I was baffled.
I found him fairly easy.
2 playthroughs of Persona 3 and you say a day or 2 my fastest run at Persona 3 has been like 60 hours lol
Ozma is nowhere.
Of course. You can't have a difficult bosses list without ATLUS Games
As Joshscorcher puts it....Yazmat is annoying, not difficult
Forgot to mention that when the number one boss on this list drops to a certain HP level it'll try and cast a to spell heal itself to full if you don't stop it
Not even a single Disgaea boss... What.
+Daeven Ville I know right I was waiting for The Tyrant Overlord Baal to hit this list, but I imagine if GamesRadar picked every JRPG superboss then this video would be a few hours if not days long.. Yiazmat though....(shudders)
I expected to see that too, it takes fuuuu king days for me to finally beat their stupid shiet.
+Daeven Ville Grind enough and every disgaea boss is a joke, unless you mean from number 5 as I don't own that yet but shouldn't change the formula.
+SoSo-Loco I'm kinda sad they picked FFXII International vs FFXII. International makes the fight easier.
There were few really strong boss fights in the Last Remnant, which are worth mentioning =)
demi-fiend is a badass
All smt protagonists had stylish suits and cool gear while demi fiend is running around shirtless in basically hell.
@@uberlephrad8218
To be fair, he had to be shirtless. How else could he show off those badass markings?
The problem with Miguel wasn’t the exposition, it’s that he was the only battle with serious A.I., and would use his double turn to weaken the MDef of foes weak to his element to OHKO them, the only character who could resist it has little defense, and you could revive only two characters in battle by that point.
Oh, and he tells you beforehand that he really doesn’t want to fight, so he hints at holding back.
No love for Velius from Final Fantasy Tactics? Many a young lad learned the importance of backup saves that day, because Velius will send you right back to the beginning of the game.
Luca Blight's not a final boss, dude. He's the mid-point slap in the face.
Out of all the brutal Legaia bosses you pick Gaza...?
Yep...Good old Demi-Fiend. In fact if you get down to it, this list would be pretty much all SMT bosses (that is unless you consider the old-school dungeon crawler games as well)
Fou-lu from breath of fire 4 should have been on the list.
+sokumo tanaka For hell sure!
+sokumo tanaka A-tur was actually more difficult IMO.
+sokumo tanaka too bad that Rider isn't a boss fight..
Demi-Fiend is supposed to be crazy strong.
You made a mistake: Luca Blight is not the final boss in Suikoden II.
+Salem Al-Mansoori ya, he just midboss (but insanely though for a midboss)
All I remember is duel with Joey in final battle, I forget the giant boss before Joey though.
+Little Sunflower beast rune
Well, the video also said Yiazmat is from Final Fantasy XII International even though he's present in the original version of the game, so it could just be a mistake.
We can also be considered a tough boss, when you grind alot, and become overleveled and overpowered, lol.
Only came here because I saw kingdom hearts
same
Sion Graff + Same lol
Luca Blight is my favorite Boss Fight ever thanks for including him
Was kinda expecting to see the Matador from SMT3 on here, but otherwise... yeah
I think they just went for special end-game optional bosses.
Watch out for the red carpet.
causeofcurse
The fucking cape
Still having trouble getting past the assholes
And so...
I grind, therefore... I am
@Hope Bagel Like Mot
I NEVER KNEW YOU COULD FLEE FROM MIGUEL TO SAVE WTF!?.
So, SO many resets... So many times I heard that monologue. x.x
Ethereal Queen from Valkyrie Profile/Star Ocean/ Infinite Undiscovery.
+sora3823 ethereal queen is not hard in valkyrie profile
It took me a week to beat Yiazmat. A. Week.
I was still in school at that point, so I couldn't just crack out and fight him, but still. A fckn WEEK.
Naram-Sin of Akkad the fight took me 6 hours
No Freya from Star Ocean: Til the End of Time?
Even the infamous Red Star cheese isn't immune to getting screwed over by Girimekhala, Cu Chulainn, or Arahabaki, or a failed Dormina from Pixie (unless you have Close Call set and Demi spends his second turn summoning Ara, in which case it MAY be possible to recover...)
