I dove in and started machine quilting yesterday, a big quilt. To make it less intimidating I decided to do quilt as I go because the blocks are 22x22. This looks amazing, can’t wait to try it!

I’d love to try this technique. I have a 30 year old Pfaff domestic sewing machine that doesn’t like free motion . I thought it was me but I did ok one someone else’s machine. At age 78, I’m not going to buy another sewing machine. Love your work

how did you piece the small squares together to make the final product?

We would be happy to assist you; we just need some more information. In this video there aren't small squares pieced together to make a final product, so we're not sure what you are referring to.

Looks like a great and beautiful technique, but also looks like TV-shop. Especially the very last words. So I'm a bit sceptical to the whole book and the "new" technique. I used to draw like that when I was a kid/young teenager, and than is many, many years ago. It would be strange if not at least some free motion quilters have done that on quilts at some time. Did she really invent "McTavishing" or did she reinvent something old to make people run to the stores right now? Reinventing something old just to sell books, classes, videos or whatever have been done in soapmaking. So it is not that far out to think it can happen in other crafts as well.

Her method is inspired by the Art Nouveau movement’s Alphonse Mucha. She’s turned it into a quilting technique.. Good for her !
