how unbelievably backwards can you be :(
north korea and liberty aren't in the same ball park. Not even in the same universe, or multiverse.
Whenever i watch these documentaries i often wonder whether these people genuinely believe what they say or if they just say it because they know that if they dont say the right thing then their entire extended family will be shipped of to concentration camps.
You need to understand that these people learn this shit in school. They have no real teaching they dont even use Our math. All they know is to obey
Thanks for this eye opening documentary.

That sooo saad 😢❤🎉 god Bless them all 🥰
The amount of soldiers does not mean anything these days, he can have 5 million, and they will get wiped out by fighter jets and drones from the air above.
Wow, amazing reporting! All the other North Korea videos show the same images from the same tour itinerary… finally something fresh. Good job👍
I’m very glad this was a unit in my 8th grade World studies class (I’m in high school now) as there is the side the government wants you to see, an underrated country but what lies underneath is hell
The Questions you he was asking the kids on the beach scared me because if they answered wrong and someone heard they would definitely be in trouble
I honestly wonder how hard it was after asking those questions to people, to not be like "well, thats actually untrue, and you are being brainwashed" Like I would have bursted because my heart goes out to these people. They don't know how bad they have it, and have been fed lies their entire life. Kudos to CNN for not getting anyone in trouble and trying to be as respectful as possible while asking and answering questions.
Beautiful and yet so sad ❤
Thank you
Welcome. 😂
16:22 Dude spoke his mind. Most honest person in the NK side. I hope he's still alive
Probably not. I'm sure he got an accidental brain injury somehow.
unfortunately he forgot to mention that Trump is a lunatic, like Kim
Let's hope he's not impaled and roasted on a shish kebab. :(
Hmmm you should the translations is right?
ANybody else watching this after finishing the Annie Jacobsen book Nuclear War: A Scenario? I mean yeah... this hits different after you read THAT!
Amazing and informative documentary. I hope we can get something on the recent state of North Korea
that wake up music they play thru the city really gives some trippy wierd vibes dude....
Amazing
10:49 very risky question to ask here.
I wrote my paper in my pro seminar in college on North Korea. 25 pages so I had to do a lot of research. What a strange but intriguing place. Amazing in so many ways good and bad.
Is there a way to read your paper online?
I’ll take that as a compliment
@@Koko-ql4fg no it was nothing groundbreaking lol. I did learn a lot about the place. It’s almost like another planet how they live. There are no clear images of their concentration camps they are known to have. Only satellite and hidden video. South Korean and Chinese human rights groups drop usb drives via balloon to random places in NK so people can be taught things that are hidden. Some have porn. Things like that intrigued me.
Not sure about so many goods..
Wow 25 whole pages?? 🤣
Great documentary, watching from Kenya
00:58 why tf are there two different original air dates on screen?? lol
Powerful
Finally somebody who actually have big balls to do this really rare video
Finally?😂😂😂 You probably first time using TH-cam dude
Tidak jadi masalah, dia wartawan di jemput dan dia sentiasa di pantau, dia. Berada di dalam pengawasan 24jam
Somebody love Baseball! Play Ball!😅😊

Rip journalist
North Korean capital although resembling modern skyline, yet it looks so soulless, so lifeless....
It gives me chills...
I wonder how their responses would be under a polygraph test
Yes, and some of the reporter's questions are dumb because if it's true everything is controlled then why they would tell him how they really feel because when he leaves anything can happen to them.
That country ladys answer sounded like a "coded" message. She said what she thought without saying what she is not permitted.
Ok, it is relevant even today. I never got over what happened to the kid in North Korea. He begged for mercy, and he ended up in a coma. I will never except it. I will never forget.
I assume they just waited on one US citizen to break a rule to use them as a pawn in their political chess game.
Hast du auch die unzähligen Toten der amerikanischen "Befreiungen" nie vergessen? 😂
you are an albanian speaking german haha what a joke@@TILL_OFARIM
@@TILL_OFARIM I hate the US but you can't really compare them and North Korea, because at least they don't need walls and guns to keep people in their country
He has genuinely tried to respect and understand the culture, particularly his interaction with children.
The Communist News Network shares the same ideology and cult of personality. Why would you expect them to be hostile to each other?
There is a difference between a culture and a cult of personality. Underneath the cult of personality is a culture that is consistent with the Southeast Asian heritage. Things like filial piety, drawing a sense of identity from the group as opposed to the individual, and so on. These expressions of culture have been appropriated and instrumentalised by the regime to serve its purposes. It takes a discerning, experienced, and compassionate journalist to understand the nuance and to recognize and respect the culture even in the context of such extreme brutality and fear that is clearly evident in this documentary. @@69ElChistoso

@@YurikoKataoka You're right!
@@69ElChistoso And let me guess? You prefer to watch the alt-right loving glorious Fox News featuring the dictator wannabe orange clown?
It's sad that the kids have absolutely no idea how bad it truly is there and that their big pig of a leader doesn't care about them, they're just another number to the population. And none of them really know how quickly their landscape can be obliterated.
Nice ending ♥
I feel great sympathy for the people who were unfortunate enough to be in North Korea. 😔🤷
We all live with propaganda everyday, it is just we are free to follow the propaganda we choose to follow. Some choose right others left and those in the middle see the propaganda of both sides.
33:11. She's checking you out. 😮
Is that deemed a good thing? 🤨
we use to say pledge of allegence every morning in school i think it should be done at schools again korea knows how important it is
By far one of the best documentaries on North Side.
Watch “the children of a secret state.”
Excellent show
12:40 soldier could be a real-life Captain Ri
2:20 That is a lie! United States of America (USA) did not start the Korean War. North Korea started the Korean War on the 25th June 1950 because North Korea invaded South Korea and ceased after an armistice on the 27th of July 1953.
It's amazing yet strange how they let him into the country without any trouble.
Not strange at all, What they want us to know they will allow
becuase western medias are lier
It's not amazing. They only use him as a tool for communist propaganda. He didn't even suspect that he was played like a fool.
That's to show that your western government is telling you lies. 👽👽👽
This was before there was any restrictions and they let him see what they want him to see
they have cemented roads. MY god, 5 hours will feel like eternity
Wow that's pretty good I've never seen downtown North Korea before so CNN does a good job on documenting that
Are the interviewed persons still alive?
Alive but in permanent detentions lol😂
Great video.
But as a point of critique: Some of the questions made in interviews have the potential to harm the person for the rest of their life. You have a great responsibility!
top be fair, it's not his responsibility to keep the communist system intact and stable. pretending everything is fine is precisely what got these people in their current situation
Never seen such a balanced documentary of North Korea . well done
Balanced in which direction?!😅😅
@@skreety0455balenced literally means its not biased. there are tons of documentaries biased against the dprk and some towards the dprk but he's saying he thinks that this is relatively balanced between left and right.
Nothing to be balanced about North Korea lol its pure hell
Eventhough it's a good documentary, the questions that were asked to citizens make me think the reporter did not understand the severity of the situation at all. With the smallest mistake those people could get into trouble beyond imagination. These are life-risking questions.
everyone has to answer questions a certain way anything negative spoken about the government or regime could easily get them in serious trouble
