Ours goes up to 1,500 rpm on cold, well our cold is just room temp lol which is 38 degrees Celsius. It's impressive you did it on the first try. Ours struggles when not in used for 1 week.
With a carb model you should prime it by pumping the gas pedal 1-3 times before starting. It should start right up if carb is clean and working and/or the engine doesn't have other issues.
It didn't run right when cold, my guess is something with the automatic choke or firing with 3 cylinders for a while. When the engine reaches operating temperature, it runs fine and exhaust fumes look ok.
Hello there, could I use a fragment of your video for my coldstarting compilation? Of course I will put a link to your original video in the description, increasing the original’s popularity too. Thanks a lot for you answer in advance :) Those cars are great, I had a 1.7 diesel and it was great to drive but mine was rusted to shit already. Keep the rust at bay and mechanics will last you forever.
I use block heater whenever possible, but when i can't, it still starts up like in the video and most times without that weird idling. The longest period of not using this car is approx. a week and then the starting process takes a second or two longer.
excellent car congratulations on its impeccable maintenance
I have to thank the previous owner, who owned this since 1992. I bought it only this summer.
@@jl9495thank you very much for answering me, you made a very good choice to buy this mazda 323, it really is an excellent car
Agreed. I stumbled upon it by sheer chance at an auction website. Total cost was only 820€ even with the rare Alpine head unit.
What a pristine car! Hope you take good care of it, would be a shame to see it rust!

The mighty B-series engine. Looks like it's running a little rich.

In finland bro 🗿
How long does it usually take to start on freezing cold mornings? Does it take longer when it hasn't been used for several days?
