I know in the past you've said you don't like doing what I eat in a day videos but your food videos are so helpful to me for inspiration and making better food choices. I find myself rewatching them whenever I want to freshen up my diet and the way you portray and talk about vegetables makes them appear just delectable!
Have been high level whole food plant based for several years now. Am 77 years old, pale natural blonde, and still get compliments on my skin...wear no foundation, only dusting of powder. Keep in mind that what is good for your skin also is good for your brain...the most important thing to protect.
TIMELINE AND A FEW NOTES 00:00 intro 01:14 two approaches 01:30 what i put into my body 1. 01:32 water (having water next to you) 2. 02:53 vitamin E (almonds, walnuts, broccoli, spinach, red bell peppers, vitamin E rich oils) 3. 06:29 anti-oxidants (green tea, oats, cinnamon, veggies, fruits, walnuts, brown rice, ...) 08:25 what i stay away from 1. 08:39 sugar (added/refined sugar) 2. 09:56 animal products (you can get enough protein from other sources don't worry) 3. 11:48 alcohol 13:23 outro (challenge) 14:18 you can watch part 1 (taking care of the skin from the outside) Hope this helps! You should watch the whole video anyways
I would add a few things: Yes its SO important to eat whole foods and care for your skin. But even then you can have skin and health issues. Ive pretty much only ate a very balanced whole food diet for 15 years and I live with rosacea while my friends that lives on Mcdonalds has porcelain clear skin. Its never straight forward, even though I technically have good genes with two very health parents w no skin issues. Also for affordable very sensitive skin products (and vegan) I recommend all the fragrance free products by Purito, Beauty of Joseon and Rovectin :) I just dont use the ones with Honey by Joseon.
This might sound controversial according all the things you hear, but as someone who had horrific hormonal acne and got rid of it, it might be helpful to someone else dealing with it. After finding out about my gluten intolerance and never touching the stuff again, I also found out that any oil on my skin (yes, even the non comedogenic ones that are supposed to help with acne) or any oil in my food (yes, even the healthy ones) will bring my acne back with a vengeance. But if I stay away from it all, it will clear up again like clockwork! If nothing else is working for you acne, it might be worth a try?
Great video, thank you! At the age of 52, I started drinking 2 litres of water daily, at the age of 30, which dramatically improved my skin. I also stopped drinking alcohol and adopted a low-inflammatory diet with no added sugar. I found that these changes have positively impacted my hormones and have supported my recovery from exercise, as I'm a long-distance runner.
As a vegan, no dairy is easy, but no sugar will be tough; I've been leaning hard on the stuff since losing my pup. Perhaps this is the motivation I need. Also, that brussel sprout dish at 15:00 is soooo beautiful!
This video was highly motivating for me. I have psoriasis, an autoimmune condition, so diet and stress play a huge factor in my skin (and holistic) health. It is incurable, but i managed to get it fully under control (with no visible symptoms, I.e. no skin plaques or rashes) just once since I was a teenager, when I was on a high dose of vitamin D supplement coupled with a probiotic, and diet change. For me, that involved very little alcohol, a big reduction in refined carbs and sugars and lots of homemade vegetable juices. I think I've needed something to give me a push to get in the straight and narrow again, so im going to take you up on your offer to cut sugar and lower my alcohol consumption for 3 months! I already don't consume dairy. Here's hoping it makes a difference! Thank you for your tips and encouragement.
I did an anti-inflammatory style of eating (I don’t like using the word ‘diet’) for six months last year to help combat high levels of inflammation due to several autoimmune conditions. It really helped improving my gut health which in turn helped with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia symptoms. I’ve relaxed it a little but still follow gluten free/low dairy with minimal sugar.
Started noticing what turned out to be neuropathy in my feet and legs. I couldn’t get into the neurologist I wanted for several months and after doing research on-line, stopped eating sugar, alcohol, salt, saturated fats and a few more things. It was amazing. The tingling that was moving up my legs lessoned considerably and my feet were SO much better. I’ve just noticed that after a vacation, eating in restaurants, I’m having trouble again. Proof to me that the new way of eating made a tremendous difference. I think you should do a cookbook…in your spare time…wink, wink.❤️
Great tips Jenny! x However this comment goes out to all of us who already follow the tips (at least most of them, most of the time) - but still have dry skin, blemishes and whatnot for whatever reasons - and despite that, feel good about ourselves (at least most parts, most of the time). Cheers!
Girl same! Sugar has the same effects on my skin and hormones balance. I for sure eat sugary foods on occasional events but not on a regular basis. Ps. As a registered dietician I’m proud of the content you’re sharing ❤
I really like how you emphasize the connection between diet and skin health! I will join the three-month challenge to cut out sugar and dairy - looking forward to the results!😁😁😁
Love your content! I also like to keep things simple in life and stick with common sense when it comes to health. My food has always been quite simple because I have a tight budget. I tend to stick with smoothies (homemade/ no sugar keffer, kale, spinach, avocado, berries, ground flaxseed with a scoop or two of Kachava - doesn't taste good but it has adaptogen mushrooms in it and totally makes my skin glow after one month of consistent use) and eggs. Besides that I'll eat a lot fresh or grilled veggies, whole grains and once a week some kind of comfort carb food.
I am a big sugar person! Especially ice cream. I could live on just that. I now have some health issues so I stopped eating ice cream for a while. In 6 months I dropped 10pounds with just that alone. It reduced my sugar intake by about 75%. (that's how much ice cream I ate!) I've continued to keep the weight off and now my blood pressure is much better and some of mother testings have improved. I had a couple of bad days so I went back to eating ice cream and it really wasn't as satisfying as it had been in the past. Still have some sugar and I do eat animal products but I am far healthier than I had been,
I used to use vegetable oil a lot because it was cheaper, but I found out it is one of the least healthy oils out there. Now I use mostly olive oil and walnut oil. Totally agree with you regarding flaxseed oil.
Eliminated grains, dairy and sugar really helped pores and acne 😊 Collagen, omega 3s helped too. But focusing on wholefood plant based fibre, fats (nuts/seeds/avocado/olives) and protein are the foundations 😊
I cut sugar out of my diet twice for six months each and it was great. My gut was at its best then. I drink loads and loads of water, but it is weird that I had adult acne anyway in my 20s with all that I drank. I think my hormones were in a weird place then (I did have two kids in my twenties). My skin is great now. I have never had alcohol ever, nor do I plan to. I am about to turn 41 on Sunday. People look at me like I am crazy to never have had it, but I didn't even try soda until I was 27 (one sip) and I hated it. Water forever. Fun video. I liked this.
I love your videos and watch mostly because of your fashion style. I do not eat sugar, but like you, I drink alcohol. I am 71 and have lovely youthful skin and I attribute to my diet.
Girl , I have stopped eating carb when I was 35. I am now 43. And people think I am a very young woman . If I was carb and sugar , yes I get eye lids inflammation and miserable pms ! 50 percent of my meals are vegetables . And just like you , I eat tofu , green tea , berries lots of nuts . As you get older , diet itself won’t do it . Work out is essential . Keep in mind everyone that we female eventually go through menopause one day , that will increase skin issue and inflammation . But if you all do weight lifting , and some aerobic , symptoms can easily maintained . I am not yet menopausal , but I have many friends go through it , ppl who do work out have much less symptoms and skin aging .
When I stopped eating dairy my skin cleared up straight away. I don’t get any spots anymore and I had bad cystic acne. I notice if I eat a lot of oil my skin gets worse, funnily enough the amount of sugar doesn’t impact my skin much. Everyone’s different though! :)
I love a group challenge so I’m definitely tempted to do the three month no dairy no added sugar challenge. Buuuut I’m torn! Dairy and sweet things are my two biggest weaknesses 😢 and I’m already working on staying consistent with some other changes. I might jump on for a month at least before the end of the year!
Herbal tea does it for me...Next to green tea and white tea, I drink a lot of nettle, fennel and hibiscus tea. I do have to have my coffee in the morning though ;)
Oh my, can I relate! If I eat more than a bite or two of sugar, within 24 hours I get a huge cystic pimple somewhere on my face (and I’m 58!) I had to give up gluten this year, as I discovered it’s started giving me utis, although I’m not sure if it’s the gluten per se, or all the chemicals in processed U.S. wheat/flour. I do eat some small portions of organic chicken and wild caught salmon because my body craves it, and I can definitely tell a difference in my energy level when I don’t get adequate amounts of protein. Thank you, Jenny, for bringing the importance of a healthy diet into the realm of beauty and anti-aging!
As someone who suffered from an eating disorder for years and watched my food intake extremely vigilantly, I now try to steer away from challenges or ideology based diets. I try to eat as healthy as possible for my life. But I also forgive myself if I have days where I'm just eating straight bad shit processed food. It is what it is. I love to eat fruits and veggies, but unfortunately I'm one of those people who won't deprive myself of meat, sugar, dairy or an occasional glass of alcohol. Trying to adhere to these sorts of "rules" about food is extremely triggering for me, because it can lead to a restricting and calorie counting behavior. So mainly I take it day by day, to to make healthy meals and eat mostly wholefoods, but if I feel like eating a tub of Ben and Jerry's one day I'm not gonna say no to myself lol. My philosophy is all about balance, so if I do decide on that, I know I can't skip the gym that week either.
I have been a vegetarian since 1975, and vegan from 1995 to 2007. I don’t take animal milk in my drinks, just soya. I prefer brown rice, have sone sugar for baking, do like a bit of cheese here and there. I do not drink soft drinks, just water - always have. Do like my dark chocolate! Walnuts are my thing and chestnuts. Eggs very very rarely. Love seitan, tofu, etc… take supplements daily - well, maybe 85% of the time. My problem bits are, I have chronic insomnia and look like s*it a lot of the time. Sleep deprivation is the worst possible ‘nasty’ for everything and every part of our body, mind, etc… tonight for my dinner is: purple sprouting broccoli, leek, and tofu with quinoa, seaweed, and poppy seeds from Japan Centre - central London 😋😋😋😋😋 PS for snacks I make seeds in tamari - gentle heat, dry fry sunflower and pumpkin seeds for about 5 mins, moving them around so nothing burns, add some tanari, mix, leave it to cool totally, enjoy
I also suffer from chronic insomnia and I understand you completely! This is truly the thing that has the most negative impact my overall looks and skin health. It can feel quite lonely at times. 😴 Going vegan made my skin appear a lot brighter and healthier though! Thank you for the tip about toasting seeds in tamari as a snack! Will try that 😋
I am on-point with hydration, antioxidants and all, but I’m still very fond of cheese and wine (not too bothered by sweets most of the time) I’m afraid that it’s my age that has played havoc with my skin lately; no doubt cutting out cheese and wine will help. I’ll go on a break after Christmas though, I’m afraid I make life hard enough for my extended family by being vegetarian ;)
I also do water (2L), antioxidents (berry smoothie or berry oatmeal) and vitamin e (ground flax seeds in smoothie or oatmeal) everyday ! Been vegan for 8 years, avoid processed sugar and alcohol for speacial occaisions only. TWINSIES ! ❤😊
i know exactly what u mean with the sugar making ur skin worse ..! i just celebrated halloween with some candies and the breakouts i woke up to the next morning was horrifying 😭 i usually only have natural sugars and eat dark chocolate if i rly want some.. my poor skin is suffering 😭
No problem cutting alcohol, impossible to cut dairy/meat. The last two don't make me put on weight or cause inflammatory or hormonal issues at all. Alcohol kills me after drink number 2 haha
I suffer from IBS and for me sugar is a straight road to hell (also fruit with a high content of sugars). I practically don't eat sweets, I don't eat meat and animal products, but on my face you can just see everything that my body doesn’t like. Alcohol is also out. No fun in life for that girl 😂 Unfortunately, we are in the pre-Christmas season and my guilty pleasure is chocolate-covered marzipan. Its hard to resist! 🤭
My dear, one of your recent videos showed your glassware collection. I keep thinking about it and wasn’t able to find it. Please enlighten me on the video.
Would love to lessen my diary intake but mashed potatoes are a holiday tradition in my house and we are guilty of overloading that with dairy. Anyone have tips for fluffy dairy free potatoes ??
I love healthy foods and greens, but unfortunately I also love unhealthy foods like added sugars. That's been the hardest to cut out for me. Namely the extra sugars in fruit custard pastries, and honey.
I suffered from migraines since I was 11 yo, i ended up in hospital 2-3 times bc I couldn't help myself anymore. Until last year i discovered the glucose goddes and her hacks to avoid glucose spikes. I cut the sugar and starches and my life changed!!
I would urge anyone watching to cut dairy even just temporarily to just see how your skin is after a couple months. Try it out don’t take my word for try it yourself it was the best thing I ever did for my skin and I didn’t even realise dairy was giving me spots.
Sadly for me it’s not possible to cut out sugar completely- I’m already vegan and celiac 😢 already so complicated though (not at home but eating outside or grabbing a snack)
Even though this about skin health, you also talk about overall health, so you could have also mentioned that alcohol is rather carcinogenic. That's what I personally worry most about when I enjoy a glass of something. 😅😉
I need to join this challenge. But I'm not sure if I can make it 100%. Dairy - I drink oat soya milk, so that's not issue, but sometimes I have cheese and also I love protein jogurt (or it's kinda more like skyr the type i like). But they are expensive anyways... And sugar...I am really addicted. But I think as long as I can eat fruits and dried fruit like dates and cranberries, I could do it? I'm sure I can't make it 100%, but I can try my best. Also it will be hard if it's part of ready-made sauces or in general part of something I would not expect sugar or dairy to be there... But since I'm on dorm and buy food for myself, I already eat less sugar and dairy, and my skin really got better, so I want to continue and try more :)
Maybe I'll do little updates here about how it's going? Even if nobody's gonna read that? Well, this challenge seems harder than I thought it would be. I use honey and agave syrup and I think I won't count honey as sugar and I can have 1 tablespoon of agave syrup a day. Also it's hard to explain to other people what I'm eating now. I said my mum that she shouldn't buy me sweet and dairy food when I come over. And it's kinda hard to explain that to other people who might want to give me food or something and right now I don't have any income, so I always welcome free food 😅😅 And how I was saying, I'm trying to minimize refined sugar and dairy as much as posible, not trying to completely avoid it...
My update more than month later: It's still hard for me. I sometimes eat sugar and dairy when I'm at home or at my partner's house. But I'm still proud of myself that I'm eating less sugar than before :) Since childhood I was addicted to sweets. With this challenge I also have another one: don't buy takeaway foods and drinks. Well, the takeaway food sometimes is fine. But I was addicted to buying takeaway coffee  Now I make my own coffee at dorm (I learned how to make it taste good!) and also I drink chicory coffee, and that's very yummy and also very healthy! :two_hearts: My skin keeps breaking out and honestly I don't know if it's really because I still eat some sugar and dairy or something else. I hope I'll find out soon... When I say I eat dairy, it's really just little bit of cheese or something, not much. I still don't drink milk. Except one time in a coffee and then I felt so awful, I really don't wanna make that mistake again. As I said, it's hard for me, but I wanna keep up until the end of January. :sparkles: I love that I learned to enjoy 100% chocolate and raisins and drinks with oat milk and eating nutritionally rich foods, so I don't crave sweets that much anymore
I miss your cooking/food/nutrition videos that you did years ago so much! Put some of them back up again! Thanks for this video:)
I came here to say this.
Me too! I still use those recipes today!
Please, so sad you took them down
RIght? I need those.
Have you heard of the "Pick Up Limes" vlog? They have lots of lovely vegetarian/vegan recipes, and it's also a lifestyle vlog. ❤
I know in the past you've said you don't like doing what I eat in a day videos but your food videos are so helpful to me for inspiration and making better food choices. Three months from today, no sugar no dairy!! Let's do this!!!!💯🥳🥳🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I did it and it messed up my periods, if you try it be careful
Why ????
You need a little bit of sugar in your diet. Don‘t go too crazy ❤
Also, don't cut sugar out cold-turkey. You will get migraines and fatigue

Hope this helps! You should watch the whole video anyways
I would add a few things:

This sounds so interesting! What skincare products do you use? And how do you cook without any oils?
Thanks for the advice, any avenue is worth trying with persistent acne 🥲
Your food always looks so good. Have you considered writing a cook book?
I think they have one if I remember well! Published some years ago. Not sure if they still sell it though.
I don't think it ever came out in English actually @anaperez9910
Great video, thank you! At the age of 52, I started drinking 2 litres of water daily, at the age of 30, which dramatically improved my skin. Woohoo! Hope there are more nutrition videos, recipes, what i eat in a day, food hauls and how to find healthy cafes in london
your skin is incredible, so glowing, i’ve learnt lots of new tips, thankyou !
yes yes yes please more videos on the foods you eat and recepies ! can you do a video on the foods you buy in a grocery shop please
I love your food-related videos. Your way of making healthy food fun and desirable is really great and inspiring.

She published a cookbook New Vegan in 2015 - you can see a photo of her holding a copy on her blog. Or just Google the key words.
Great tips Jenny! x However this comment goes out to all of us who already follow the tips (at least most of them, most of the time) - but still have dry skin, blemishes and whatnot for whatever reasons - and despite that, feel good about ourselves (at least most parts, most of the time). Cheers!
I love this video! I also think that beauty is more of an inside Job/Work that needs to be done. The work on the outside needs to be done on top 👍

I’m afraid that it’s my age that has played havoc with my skin lately; no doubt cutting out cheese and wine will help. I’ll go on a break after Christmas though, I’m afraid I make life hard enough for my extended family by being vegetarian ;)
Thanks Jenny Mustard!
But 3 months from today includes christmas time!!!
Nooo cannot do that ;((
Girl, yes. White sugar makes my skin break out after about 2-3 days, always. Also weird localized rashes on my face and scalp.
I also do water (2L), antioxidents (berry smoothie or berry oatmeal) and vitamin e (ground flax seeds in smoothie or oatmeal) everyday ! Been vegan for 8 years, avoid processed sugar and alcohol for speacial occaisions only. TWINSIES ! ❤😊
Well, I'm up for the challenge, as that is how I eat already :D love being a whole foody vegan :) thank you for sharing
would love to do this 3 month challenge but come on ……… over christmas, really ! . i will do it in Jan though , promise x
The white sugar effect on skin! I have foods with white sugar and immediately I get a pimple. My skin does not like it one bit at all either.
i know exactly what u mean with the sugar making ur skin worse ..! i just celebrated halloween with some candies and the breakouts i woke up to the next morning was horrifying 😭 i usually only have natural sugars and eat dark chocolate if i rly want some.. my poor skin is suffering 😭
where do you. buy your sencha tea from please
No problem cutting alcohol, impossible to cut dairy/meat. The last two don't make me put on weight or cause inflammatory or hormonal issues at all. Alcohol kills me after drink number 2 haha
Hi Jenny! Could you recommend me a vegan cookbook please
I suffer from IBS and for me sugar is a straight road to hell (also fruit with a high content of sugars). I practically don't eat sweets, I don't eat meat and animal products, but on my face you can just see everything that my body doesn’t like. Alcohol is also out. No fun in life for that girl 😂
Unfortunately, we are in the pre-Christmas season and my guilty pleasure is chocolate-covered marzipan.
This phone is my dream ❤
Jenny, pls tell me where you got those gooseberries from! I can never find them in UK supermarkets, so jealous ha
I definitely notice a difference after alcohol :(
Even though this about skin health, you also talk about overall health, so you could have also mentioned that alcohol is rather carcinogenic. That's what I personally worry most about when I enjoy a glass of something. 😅😉
Do you have a cook book?
I’m doing terrible so I’m in for the 3 months. I eat sugar and dairy and I’ve gained so much weight I just feel horrible 😢
any type of seed oils are bad for you
Alcohol is also considered a Type-1 carcinogen. I also consume despite knowing this.
And it's kinda hard to explain that to other people who might want to give me food or something and right now I don't have any income, so I always welcome free food 😅😅
And how I was saying, I'm trying to minimize refined sugar and dairy as much as posible, not trying to completely avoid it...
My update more than month later:
It's still hard for me. I sometimes eat sugar and dairy when I'm at home or at my partner's house.
But I'm still proud of myself that I'm eating less sugar than before :)
Since childhood I was addicted to sweets.
:two_hearts:
My skin keeps breaking out and honestly I don't know if it's really because I still eat some sugar and dairy or something else.
:sparkles:
I love that I learned to enjoy 100% chocolate and raisins and drinks with oat milk and eating nutritionally rich foods, so I don't crave sweets that much anymore
Skincare food recipes please 🤍
my skin loves lentils
A vegan whole-food diet is definitely the best! 💚
Hahaha for me quitting dairy and sugar is easy... but oh boy, the alcohol...
Drink water but make it 👄fashion
Can I have pizza and donuts on this diet?
Where is your beauty mark?
❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You should be careful with water though. Too much water is not good for the kidney!
Mmmm
Yes
Health themed is good
My one bad habit is eating animals
6 years vegan here, only regret is not doing it sooner. caffeine is my bad habit.
@@dj.h7424 i doubt it, every vegan i know is back to eating meat, their health was shit, and they were weak af!! Although they eat healthy
I'd like to order Jenny Ketchup with some fries please...
Sorry, salad is not a heal food . It makes women not strong .
You are incorrect.
That is so wrong every vegetable has protein in it and is also full of antioxidants.
