And I have to backpedal a bit from what I said earlier: those _are_ good characteristics of Jewishness. My critique is that they are _ideals_ that we should all continue striving to _live up_ to & help guide each other toward - we shouldn't settle for feeling complacent about how much we might already have them.

@@musleemahtolasile9841 He means that you can ask simple questions but you cannot "question" the dogma. It is a huge problem- what kind of loving, spiritual practice makes apostacy a sin punishable by violns, de-th, being ostracized? That is not a loving God or practice - so when you"question" the religion and decide you want to leave, you are punished in some way.
Most true believers don't ask many questions, they just follow - many of the intellectuals leave the religion because their bigger questions get hostile responses - or none at all.

Just not as radical. It's more secretly violent. I had to break ties with everyone I knew, to protect them. Mormons don't go after the individual who defects, they go after those we love and care about the most and take them hostage, spiritually.

11:50 I think it's very important to clarify for those who are not familiar with the Akeidat Yitzchak (Binding of Isaac) that Abraham didn't actually sacrifice his son. He was commanded by G-d to do so, and because it was a commandment from G-d, He was fully committed to carrying it out. Just when he was about to complete the act, G-d (or maybe it was an angel sent by G-d - I don't remember what I was taught lol) cried out "STOP!" That's when Abraham was told that it was a test to measure how committed he was in his trust in G-d.

William is an amazing person. What incredible strength! We are so lucky that he has joined us. William has a much greater understanding of Judaism than Yakov Langer. Yakov said that if a Jewish son left Judaism, "there wouldn't be as much violence..." Huh?.... Frankly I've never heard of any Jewish parent being violent towards a Jewish son or daughter that left Judaism. Violence against a child or adult son or daughter is not prescribed in Judaism, while it is in Islam. Violence in Islam is not only common, it is prescribed. Questioning aspects of faith or practice is common and even encouraged in Judaism; in Islam it is prohibited and punished violently when a Muslim questions anything about the faith. In Judaism, we are instructed not to be joyful at the death of our enemies since they are also Hashem's creations. In Islam, Muslims are instructed to kill, gRape and enslave non-Muslims, to see them as enemies just because they are not Muslims and of course to celebrate the death of non-Muslims. Yakov is not aware of this -- which at this point is astounding. Honor killings are common in Islam, in Judaism, such things are unheard of because it is deemed out and out murder. I hope that one day Yakov becomes aware of this.

What a hateful , ignorant and categorically false comment. Islam absolutely does not sanction violence, rape or any of the filthy things you in your own mind associate with a religion you clearly know nothing about.
In the vast majority of Muslim majority countries, any parent that abuses their children (whatever the reason) can be punished to the full extent of the law for doing so.
"That is why We ordained for the Children of Israel that whoever takes a life-unless as a punishment for murder or mischief in the land-it will be as if they killed all of humanity; and whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity". -surat al-maidah (verse 32) Qur'an
" Allah does not forbid you from treating those who do not fight you on your faith, nor have they driven you out of your homes, with benevolence and equity" - Qur'an (60:8)
“You will not enter Paradise until you believe and you will not believe until you love each other. Shall I show you something that, if you did, you would love each other? Spread peace among yourselves.” -prophet Muhammad (sahih al-bukhari book)

There are cases when even parents Unalive their own children in the name of Allah (which means moon god, not God god, ya know)
Its much like how youve seen videos of children doing...things. Its the same in china, how they are taught to hate that country that cannot be named, and Japan.

Yes, male relatives-- brothers, cousins. Sometimes over simple misunderstandings. A brother opens his siister's cell phone and sees a call from an unknown number. It may turn out that someone dialed a wrong number. But in the brother's mind, his sister must be "having an affair" and must therefore be eliminated to avoid bringing shame upon the entire family. All because of a false assumption.

There really should be non-governmental financial support for people who are facing this kind of hardship because they are leaving Islam for Judaism. With the vetting and conversion to Judaism being so rigorous and lengthy, it's unlikely that you'll be financing conmen, or that you won't find them out in the process.

It is not very easy for men to divorce their wives in Iran because they have to pay a hefty amount of money as Mehriyeh to the wife. It's like a nightmare! Lots of people go to jail for not paying it. (Mehriyeh can also be demanded by the woman even without a divorce if it is set that way when they signed their marriage papers.)

If a lot of people in Iran and many Muslim majority nations get their DNA checked, many of them would find they have significant amounts of Jewish ancestry.
Of course many Jews might find that they have non-Jewish ancestry.

Judaism doesn’t (always) support excommunicating a child because they went off the derech. If anything it’s encouraged to show more love to that child because the reasons they go off are usually emotional.
