What are your opinions of the DC35 Digital Slim? Do you agree with me that it is perhaps the worst of Dyson's stick vacs? Sound off in the comments!

Thanks for the explicit instructions. Having the same brush roller problem, the culprit was that the white nylon motor gear had worn so that it was not gripping the motor axle. A drop of super glue fixed it.

0:48 Hey Matt… great video, very detailed and clear. I was ready to throw in the towel after dismantling the head and still having the problem.. a good clean was due anyway, but this process of bending the terminals out and cleaning the contacts up absolutely nailed it for me. Great video and huge thanks for posting. All the very best 🤘

Hi Matt fixed it for me , prior to seeing this video ,I checked out the Brushmotor useing a bench power supply ,first with the brush ,then pipe all was well, I also checked out the output from the unit this appeared only breiftly and the dissappeared, leading me to think there was an issiue inside the main unit, any way I viewed this video and the contacts fixed it! I can only asume that some software detect s the absence of the motor, as once it's cutout ,it can only be restarted by releasing the trigger and starting again

Hi Matt, Great video. I cannot really make a judgement concerning this stick vac. Overall not a fan of stick vacs but hey I guess they are popular. Not a fan of Dyson at all but you worked you magic and made it run like a top.
People in your area are very lucky to have a vac tech like yourself to take care of them.
    Again, great video.

I can't judge this particular model but I do have an old V6 stick I got running again and I do like it. My only complaint is a design flaw in the brush rollers that causes hair to build up at one end and get pushed into the motor housing if it's not cleaned after every couple of uses.
I firmly believe that if you want a vacuum thats maintenance free a Dyson is NOT for you. They require regular tear downs and clean outs to be functional and are overpriced if purchased new. The best place to get a Dyson for what it's actually worth is on the side of the road where it's been thrown because it's first owner never bothered to clean it out and it's lost suction lol

I completely agree about maintenance. If you don't maintain a Dyson you are in for trouble... or at the very least, really poor cleaning. Thanks for watching and commenting!

My vac had the exact same problems. I disassembled every last bit of it and the problem is the connection that you took out at 2:08. IMO it’s poorly designed. I suspect you were breaking that connection in the same way I was. I never found a great solution. There’s a ton of play on the backside of that connection. The prongs look great, just like yours, but for whatever reason there’s a ton of compliance in the female connector and it causes it to disconnect briefly which cuts out the brushes until you pull the trigger again.

I would agree that it is a weak design. I think it is telling that this model went out of production quickly and they never went back to that design. Hope you were able to get yours going!

Thanks, also, I’m finding that the V15 cannot handle too much fake Christmas tree needles, it gets all jammed up

Real and fake Christmas tree needles are the annually occurring enemy of vacuums everywhere, ha! But, yes, the small channels in stick vacs are more prone to clog with those.

What is that wax spray you are using to clean and polish the cannister and brush roller plastic ?

Sure is. Just any old Pledge product. Gives it a shine and removes static electricity.

I really wish I could see the value in Dyson vacuums... or any other bagless vacuum for that matter

Yeah, there are definitely better vacs for the money out there!
