Hard to believe the high film quality that I'm watching this 50 years later and it looks so fresh & contemporary. Those were some great good ole boy days!
I love this era of the Nashville Grass when it is still the Foggy Mt Boys with Roland White and Haskell McCormick. Thankful to Gloria Boyd and Mac Wiseman for these lovely videos...
Got this super-rare DVD! It's most certainly, one of my favorites! One of the benefits of living 25 miles from Renfro Valley, Kentucky! Love the man & his music! He was one of the ... BEST! Dearly missed & highly influential in my own music and musicianship! Thank you, Lester!
Lester Flatt and The Nashville Grass 1970 at Renfro Valley! The audio is available on here! Google and you can find copies of the DVD! It's a little pricey because it was a very limited release from Renfro Valley Entertainment! Same with the Osborne Brother's Renfro Valley DVD, as well! It's a good one! I've got that one, as well! I live 25 miles from the venue, so you can find things local from the area! Good luck! I think you'll find a copy! Hopefully? Both!
I have the DVD of this bluegrass festival performance. I love that Roland White mandolinist extraordinaire and brother of guitar legend Clarence White is playing with Lester in his band.
Now some folks like the summertime when the they can walk about Strolling through the meadow green it's pleasant there no doubt But give me the wintertime when the snow is on the ground For I found her when the snow on the ground I traced her little footprints in the snow I found her little footprints in the snow I bless that happy day when nellie lost her way For I found her when the snow was on the ground I dropped in to see her there was a big round moon Her mother said she just stepped out but would be returning soon I found her little footprints and I traced them in the snow I found her when the snow was on the ground Now she's up in heaven she's with the angel band I know I'm going to meet her in that promised land But every time the snow falls it brings back memories For I found her when the snow was on the ground
Gloria : I renew my thanks and gratulations to you for your uploads of Mac & Lester. The picture is very beautiful, the sound true (great) and for "country music lovers oriented to bluegrass and opposed counter to "newgrass", Lester, Mac, Earl Sgruggs, the Osborne Brothers (with steel, drums, piano) are -for me- "masters" from I learned so many "things" for my own lead guitar playing. Jo
(I possess this DVD) Many thanks for upload : exceptionnal fine sound, nice pictures.... Josh Graves (on dobro) was (and is) my "master" for slide dobro. Last thing : all musicians smile during her playing. It's note the same if you see Bill Monroe's or J.D. Crowe's musicians on stage... Jo
The very unique thing about Josh Graves was that he was the 'giant' on whose shoulders all the other great Dobro players would stand. He was the guy who really didn't have any giants to copy .. and basically created what we now call bluegrass Dobro.
Anybody who lived in Nashville area remember flatt and Scruggs Saturday on tv in 60's
The boys look sharp!
Lester Flatt is a name well known for guitar pickin!
This is my music. I love it ❤❤
None better!! The true master voice of bluegrass
When this guy sings the song he lives it and goes right inside every word.
Lester flatt is a bluegrass.legend. with Roland white and the great Paul Warren. On fiddle..
Hard to believe the high film quality that I'm watching this 50 years later and it looks so fresh & contemporary. Those were some great good ole boy days!
Glad to see that’s Roland White
Theres was ever only one Tommy Duncan, And there will only ever be one Lester Flatt..
Great to see Paul Warren on that fiddle, and he gives a little grin at the end of the kickoff.
Josh graves the dobro master

Fantastic. How can people not like this? Makes me wish I was born in Kentucky
Best version of Footprints in the Snow!
Best live video version of it too.
a bit too much dobro in the beginning

glorious
Thanks for pointing out Roland White!
The best lead singer ever in bluegrass. No equal.
And did you know that Paul Warren was a POW in Germany for three years during WW II ?
the ultimate version
Now some folks like the summertime when the they can walk about
Strolling through the meadow green it's pleasant there no doubt
But give me the wintertime when the snow is on the ground
For I found her when the snow on the ground
I traced her little footprints in the snow
I found her little footprints in the snow
I bless that happy day when nellie lost her way
For I found her when the snow was on the ground
I dropped in to see her there was a big round moon
Her mother said she just stepped out but would be returning soon
I found her little footprints and I traced them in the snow
I found her when the snow was on the ground
Now she's up in heaven she's with the angel band
I know I'm going to meet her in that promised land
But every time the snow falls it brings back memories
For I found her when the snow was on the ground
This is a good rendition
Good ole boys. Classic
