    I love that the male witness purposely didn't say the defendant's name so as to not even dignify him. Witness: "It was you". Defendant: "So you don't even know the defendant's name?" Witness: "Yeah, I do", while looking at the defendant like the waste of flesh he is.

    This man (the witness) is an example to us all. He's composed and respectful, even though he absolutely knows the person questioning him has killed innocent people - something I assume that he would have been terrified of potentially doing at times in his long career in the armed forces. He continues to serve his community and country by defending those who can't defend themselves. Thank you for your service

    • @cl9949
      @cl9949 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      This is very typical of someone in the armed services, their reporting is always short, to the point and factual. I loved that he said he was 95% positive versus saying 100% because it’s the honest truth.
      How could you possibly know out of all the older red SUVs out there if that was the exact same one. Logic would tell you it is, so he’s saying 95%.
      I happen to be married to a veteran of many years and this is exactly how he acts in time of danger and issues such as this where he has to give any kind of statement. It’s quite impressive how many extra words the regular civilian will use versus the succinctness of a military person.
      I agree with you 100%. Well done

      It will be interesting how the jury perceived Brooks here, because he is essentially wearing two hats: defendant and attorney. As an attorney he is allowed to provoke and rattle witnesses to a certain point. Public defenders do that when need be. But when Brooks does it, will the jury just see that as a sign that the defendant is dangerous and capable of the alleged crimes?

      I think it's fine that Defendants can waive their right to counsel & represent themselves. Brooks is losing big time. This will lead to a satisfying verdict for the victims & families ...once they endure his clown antics.

    In the the police academy we had to learn proper courtroom testimony. Our instructor knew everything that you could think of when it came time to either testify or speaking on your own behalf. This gentleman that was first on the witness stand could probably write a book in testifying. And the young lady held her ground and gave a great account of the incident. And I thank him for his service and I thank him for helping the injured. God Bless this man and his family.

      Yeah, when the prosecution asked the last woman how fast the SUV was traveling, he should have objected via speculation. She’s not an expert on predicting speed while outside of a vehicle, so it would be a speculative guess at best. I think he did question her about it later, but couldn’t find a proper way to phrase it so as to raise doubts over her answer.

    @22:50 when the witness was looking at Brooks and referred to him as "you" was probably the most damming thing he could have done to Brooks.
    It wasn't a deliberate act, it was how a person casually reacts in conversation when they are being completely open and honest. Brooks saw it and tried to weasel out, but it really just showed that the utterance was casual, and really cannot be overlooked as far as a good identifying fact that Brooks was the driver.
