I’m glad you made that comment about powder. I keep trying powders, because I keep hearing from other influencers that powder is non-negotiable. But, I too have dry skin, and every time I add powder, I also add 10 years to my face. 😭 It was nice hearing someone say they don’t wear it.

I don’t wear it either. I have crazy dry skin. I can’t even stand the feel of it. I tried the over hyped one from Saie and I didn’t even like that one.
I also feel this way about concealer!

As someone who also has cool undertones and ashy hair, i find Jen's recommendations surrounding a products warmth to be extremely hekpful!
I think it can be very helpful to find an influencer with a similar skin tone and skin type for product recommendations. The other reason I watch such videos is to see people demonstrating techniques that I'm not familiar with.

Hello Jen. I greatly appreciate the fact that u do not put powder on after your foundation when its a FOUNDATION REVIEW!!!
When i see others applying powder while its a foundation review, it changes the entire outcome making it a moot point.
I have dry skin as well and i need a genuine review on foundations, setting sprays, etc..

Me too i do not use powders coz i have dry skin. It is like aggravating the dry spots I already have..😅

I’ve never used L.A. Girl products but the Bouncy blush and bronzer look really good. And the blush color is beautiful.
the flat velvet matte lipsticks are great, especially for the price. the lip liners are also super popular. and the pro concealer is good too
Their color corrector/Concealers are one item from them I swear by... so inexpensive but nice, thin, and effective as a corrector!! ❤
They also have some really good eyeshadow palettes with very strong beautiful shimmers and I dont know why they put all super sheer toppers in the palette she just used. I know that is kind of the “ in” thing right now but they should at least include a couple of decent pigmented shimmers.
@Queenmarie88 I forgot that I also have a couple LA Girl 10 pan palettes, and you're correct. They are usually more consistent than these new pallettes.
@@thescarletgraywitch8052 I just don’t understand why some brands find a fantastic eyeshadow formula that consumers really love and give great reviews for and then their next palettes are nowhere near that quality and I’m talking about Milani specifically. Those eyeshadows in the gold palettes were so so good and since then they have not come out with that formula again. I wonder if LA GIRL is doing the same. Even if it costs a little more to produce the better formula I would think that they would win in the end. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Seems like so far this year the drugstore is not doing well, and considering the prices they need to step it up if they want the consumer to part with hard earned money. I appreciate that your videos can definitely help with our decisions. ❤😊

I noticed that the ONLY LA Girl palettes that have the BEST formulas were the 16-pan palettes like "Hey Hey Vacay", "Break Free", LA Artistry, etc. Those pans were AMAZING, and everything else they've made has been disappointing and not worth the $. I really hope they bring those palettes and formulas back!

When you watch professional makeup artists talk about brows they use different colors. Usually the outer is darker than the inner brow, but the final results are often quite impressive and very natural.
Jen, I can't believe how expensive drugstore makeup has become. Skin care is even more expensive. I wish there were less expensive alternatives.
It's so true! I just posed a video on Korean skincare...it's so much less expensive than drugstore and better formulas too!

There’s a fine line between applying powder and applying a small touch of powder. I have normal to dry skin in winter and I feel that topping my foundation with a bit of powder absolutely gives a finished, blended coverage.
True! I have dry skin and take a very soft brush, swirl into a small amount of powder, tap off and very lightly dust
Yes, I know declutters are legit brutal to edit……so the break after the eyeshadow videos is definitely required! I’m just preemptively excited for the blush, bronzer, and highlighter videos! Love your content!

The LA GIrl Desert Glow Envy Palette, looks so pretty, I really like all the colors, even the greens. I like the mix of neutral and bright colors, the blues looks stunning. The Bounce bronzer and blush look good too. For me, I prefer the cream to powder formulas for my oily skin, it just lasts better without disappearing at the end of the day. LA Girl came out with amazing products, I will have to check them out.
I know you don't like sheer shadows, but I love them. I have old, wrinkly eyelids that super foiled or metallic shades really emphasize my wrinkles and crinkles. But I still love glitter. So toppers do have a place. This one still may not be a good one.. the look was beautiful, anyway.

I bought the brow pen recently and agree it is very light - I love it! It’s like the elf wow brow, just enough pigment where you don’t have to be overly careful and it passes for natural even if you build it up

Here are my thoughts...The Elf filter dupe would be fantastic for someone like me because I am 42 years old and I dont wanna look like a disco ball. Now, with that said, I never wear primers or foundation simply because it shows too much texture on my face. I dont have acne prone skin so there's no visible acne peeking thru and there are no scars. However, I do have enlarged pores and fine lines, as well as, dry skin. So I dont want it to highlight those areas. I typically use BB cream just to add some color to my face because I look pale. As for the eyeshadow, it looked nice on you, but if I'm being honest, I'd most likely skip it. What I am REALLY interested in are the blush and bronzer/contour products, as well as, those lip balms. Everything else I'd likely skip because I just don't use them.
I use Dior Matte foundation and was using Estee Lauder before. The Dior does not show any texture on my skin versus my old formula. Just an FYI in case your interested. My sunscreen has a built in primer so it's a win win.
The moment I saw you holding that Catrice foundation I thought Oooh no! I got it months ago thinking it would be a lighter version of their HD Liquid one. Boy was I wrong! It looks horrible even on my oily skin right from the first moment. It doesn't last at all with powder but that doesn't even matter because it looks so patchy and dry anyway.
I can kinda make it work when I mix it with the HD Liquid one on days when I don't want a lot of coverage and I know I'm not gonna be out for more that 2-3 hrs 🙈
I was going to say, I like their more full coverage one too but this just flipped so hard.

To be honest,I think the brow pen matches you perfectly...even more so then the Nyx one.....I loved the eye look even though the shimmers are lacking...the highlight is a huge no....the lip balms look awesome 😊

I've heard a couple youtubers complain bout la girl shadow formulas they're saying it doesn't seem to be the same n now I'm convinced they've changed it!

Too bad about the LA girl palette. I purchased the “Main Stage” palette and was disappointed. If you’re looking for cruelty~free, great pricing and stellar customer service & an excellent tracking experience, I suggest Moira. I have green eyes and so many of their palettes have color stories that complement my eye color~actually any eye color pops with their palettes . Such a great, classy company🌟👍

you need to prep your skin reallyyyy well before the catrice serum foundation but personally i love it as its the only foundation at my local drugatore that carries a shade light enough for me
I'm also very fair, and this is an issue I often have with drugstore lines. The foundation shade range just doesn't run light enough for me! Which I can understand, in a way, because these are mass market brands.
I’m glad you don’t do wear tests with powder. I’ve never found a powder my dry skin looks good in, so I can’t rely on a powder to make base products work for me.
IMHO, a base should look all right without powder or having to use a special product under it to make it work! But that's a standard a lot of products don't meet.
On camera, your brows look the same colour as your hair. They really look good.

I was waaaiiiting for you to get some of that new LA Girl stuff! It's so weird that it took so long to be "in stock" after they were on the Ulta website for weeks.
The new eyeshadow palettes are now almost all in stock, except the pinky toned one! I hope those are more of the same eyeshadow formula they usually have!

Love the 2 brow products! Love tge bouncy blush & bronzer! Love the lip balms! Shame about another fail on the foundation. I too extra dry skin so that wouldn’t work for me either. Ty for trying out these products for us! Loving the brow items! Loving the bouncy blush n bronzer! Also, the shades of the lip balms & the cooling affect! I’d skip on the palette. N I have Elf Halo Glow. I also have the CT. I find the CT oxides on me & turns orange. So I prefer the Elf Halo Glow. TFS! As always another great video! U still look beautiful. I've been wearing the serum foundation from Catrice for a year now, since it came out in Europe last year. How I make it work is to use a brush and go over lightly with a sponge. If you put it on that way, you won't get dry spots. I have combination skin, it for worked for me. Hope it will work for you too 😊
Seems like that brow color is actually better for you than the ash 🧐. I have the same issue with NYX ash brown. Maybe in person the new brow color looks too warm but you look like red hair shades go with your skin tone.
Disappointed in the shadow palette. Liked colors but no pigmentation. Thank you again you do a great job evaluating the products.have a great day

@JenPhelps I am also curious about all the K Beauty compact foundations, Tinted moisturizers, and foundations. Some look very promising, but the shade range is almost non existent, so I get confused about whether they'll work on our western complexions. Some are really light! 😔
But I do love K Beauty products. Their skin care is second to none and at amazing prices!! I really love some of the lip products as well... I may be a bit addicted to K Beauty skin care. 😍😂
And another thing about the elf halo glow it only has a shelf life of 6M I believe the Carrie like the CT is 12M so either way the CT is the same sort of size but shelf life wise will last double the time so either way you’ll need 2 bottles of elf per year which ends up being similar price to CT so I’d wait for sales n stuff get the CT.
I usually just watch your short videos, that’s how I found you. But your long videos are so good too. So I’m happy I can find someone so good at reviewing makeup. Also, my skin is dry as well so is a bonus.

I too am going to check that one out, sooo many others end up turning out with a greenish tone on me 😏 gurrr

I waited with baited breath for the LA girl palette, bronzer and blush the come back in stock and ordered immediately when they did. The blush is insanely pigmented but doesn't blend well and is patchy. Haven't tried the bronzer yet but the color is great for me. The pallet well the shimmers don't swatch well but with my finger and no primer I got great effect that lasted all day

Hi Jen! A great skin tint that works for me really well is the Rimmel London kind & free one. It's not new but you should try that.
Wow Jen your nails look amazing!!! Such shine too!! I think your makeup looks really lovely too considering the eyeshadows don’t have much pigment.
I will definitely try the LA Girl eyebrow pen too. I have used the NYX pen since you recommended it and love it apart from, as you have said, sometimes it comes out perfect and other times it comes out really heavy.

This video is what I needed. I saw this foundation on instagram and it had a great review. However before I bought it, I decided to try looking up another review. I also have dry skin and makeup tends to crack apart on me. I'm glad I saw this video first.
