Its unhealthy how many times ive replayed Morison solo the build up is amazing his ideas are just phenomenal wish this cat lived in the states he would be huge over here!
I got to meet James Morison once. I ran up to him at lionel hampton and screamed "YOU ARE A GODLY BEAST AT MUSIC!!!" and he just laughed and replied "Oh thanks mate!" One of my greatest moments as a jazz musician.
james morrison is the trumpet player with the leather jacket..hes a fantastic icon in trumpet history....if u want to see a good video of him at hios best .tyoe in..."jazz trumpet giants faddis marsalis morrison arturo.it will blow your mind
@DomPusey James Morrison - On The Edge musicians: James Morrison - trumpet, trombone, piano, digital trumpet, bass, flugel horn, Simon Stockhausen - keyboards, samples, soprano sax Troy Roberts - tenor sax Matthew Jodrall - trumpet, flugel horn Andrew Fisenden - drums Dane Alderson - 6 string bass Sunil de Silva - percussion, smiles.
Memo to bradlew88, I have been a miso for over 30 years as a drummer/percussionist ( no jokes please ) & I have noticed that James is not the same player he was & I have noted a large weight gain with James. Do you think that that would contribute to his decline????
Don't get me wrong morrison is an amazing player and most people could never touch him, but this should be a lesson to younger students of why not to be a pressure player. His tone has gotten rough and airy and if he had stuck with good fundamentals he would have been amazing for much much longer. I had to watch my private instructor go through losing his chops and it's sad to see amazing players lose skills and sounds they use to have.
:S Not what I meant, stop being pedantic. Didn't mean to offend you in any case. What would you call it then, if it isn't jazz? As for the so-called fetish videos, that wasn't me... Could've been my housemate, he's a bit of an odd one ;)
Is it just me or should most 'sound men' be fired. You get horn players blowin their brains out and all you hear is 'amplified instruments' as if their all soloing the whole song. Turn up the horn mics!!! or find a new career.
This trumpet solo is just overwhelming. Brings tears to my eyes when I hear such greatness of art. This whole band - it rocks!

the entire band sounds good.
Amazing trumpet and tenor sax solos. They sure pack a lot into their time.
the trumpet solo was one of the best ive heard. Love it.
these musicians put some spirit into their playing; something that i need to work on myself :)
teso...y excelente trompetista..
Live music is about originality. These guys got it down.
Having heard and met James Morrison recently I can state with some confidence that the airy tone he exhibits is entirely intentional and stylistic.
muy muy bueno exselente ufffff
I thought the scat solo was quite interesting haha! Never heard anything quite like it before...
yea...totally agree.
Funky Jazz !!!
If it's not jazz, then I don't know what is!
I wouldn't say that, only that weird samples solo. The rest is gold.
Good call.
cool

It is jazz. It's fusion. If you don't think it's jazz, I'd love to know what you think it is. They're improvising.
Silence may be golden, but duct tape is silver
Lucky.
