    A lot of you guys asked if the TFIT clasp can work on the BB58. The answer is here: th-cam.com/video/IRS2zcljBKI/w-d-xo.html Tudor did some trickery to make it as hard as possible

      I have the BB58 39mm and use it with the Tudor leather strap now. My AD called to let me know she has a Pro with my name on it but it's with the leather strap. My question is since I have the BB58 20mm stainless strap sized and sitting around would I be able to fit it onto the Pro? Much obliged and very detailed here, loved the close up and comparisons, kudos

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man glad you enjoyed it! And that's exciting to hear that you got the call however the BB58 bracelet won't work on the BB Pro unfortunately. It comes down to the endlinks being different due to the different midcase dimensions on the two watches. The only other option would be to order a bracelet separately but I hear those are going for about $800 or so. I guess it depends on how badly you want the bracelet? I think it would still be worthwhile to try on the BB Pro on the strap tho!

    Hmmm I’m generally not a fan of fauxtina but the subtle cream color on this one works really well imo. They didn’t overdo it.

    I was very skeptical about the thickness of the BB Pro, yeah I tried it on at the AD and the thickness is no issue. Thinnest 14.6 I ever saw and I'm so glad I was wrong. Very much thinking about upgrading my BB36 silver dial to it, or maybe the black/ gilt 58. Hard choices, we should all be so lucky. PS I have a 6.25" wrist and I *HATE* thick watches so if I can pull this off literally anyone can.

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome to hear that the BB Pro worked for you as well as it did! I barely even notice that there was ever a thickness issue since its just so comfortable lol! And its very telling that you're coming from wearing a very svelte 36mm BB but you're still thinking that the BBPro works fine. Obviously tastes differ but I'm happy to hear that its not impossible for smaller wrists!

    • @dpns2ster
      @dpns2ster 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also have a similar sized wrist and with the bracelet adjusted to size, it actually articulates slightly better than the BB58, tho both are are absolutely fine. The clasp is also exceptional with the Tfit.

    I picked this up 2 weeks ago on bracelet - thickness is not an issue for me at all. Wears in-between a 41 and a 58. My opinion is that people are overflowing the thickness without giving it a hands on try. The domed sapphire, slimmed mid case, and downward slanted bezel makes it feel slimmer that the standard 41. Factor in the 70hr power reserve, killer lume plots, fabulous color schemes/matching, anti-magmatism, cosc cert, adjustable bracelet, etc……it’s a real nice package!

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats on the pickup! And yeah I agree with every point you made! the amount of height the bezel and crystal take up really reduces the overall height quite a bit which I am so thankful for. Its a seriously good watch given that I'm ok with the thickness, theres pretty much nothing else to complain about!

    • @fraserp2377
      @fraserp2377 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a nice watch for sure, but it's ok to make a decision on the thickness without trying it. I can clearly see from this video that it is too thick for me, but I am happy for others who like it.

    • @mkyhou1160
      @mkyhou1160 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a BB GMT. At first, the thickness didn’t bug me. You are in the honeymoon. Over time, I realized it was less comfortable than every other watch I owned. Sold it after a year, it’s one of the most flipped watches for a reason. I think this one will be the same. At this price point there shouldn’t be a compromise, when Longines can do a true GMT at a cheaper price which isn’t thick, Tudor should too.

      @mkyhou1160 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @r2l100 agreed - I like the design of this, just the flaws. I am going to check out the Zulu time when it arrives in town. It will be interesting to see how Swatch use that new movement, it’s an advantage for them.

    You've said exactly what I was thinking when the Pro was launched. And that is people should wait to try it on to make any kind of good commentary. I don't have issues with chunkier watches as long as it's not extreme and it fits the style of watch. So I knew this Pro would be a good bet for me. Thanks for the review and keep up the good work! Thanks for the great detailed breakdown, as always! I want to like this watch so much. As it is, with my slim lanky frame and wrists, my BB58 is already at the very limit of chunkiness I can pull off. Fully appreciate how all the new adopters of the Pro with chunkier wrists are saying it's not an issue, but unfortunately, it's a sad no-can-do for me. Enjoy the piece bro! Looks great on you! (Tudor: Please please please make a slimmer version next time. Meanwhile, it's still and only my 16570 for me.)

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure thing, I'm glad you enjoyed all the details! Ah yeah if the BB58 is on the chunkier side for you then i'm not sure this will work for you bc while it doesnt wear much thicker than the BB58, it does in the end wear thicker. Unfortunately even the thin tudors will be chunky bc of their use of the slab sides.
      Ah the 16570 is an absolute gem of a watch I have the 216570 but sold it bc it was too big and I'm hoping that rolex goes back to the size and proportions of the 16570! Or fingers crossed that Tudor will finally make a thinner gmt movement for a BB58 GMT!

I had originally ordered it on the bracelet but could not wait... so now I am waiting on the bracelet. Hopefully, it'll get here sooner rather than later but since you and I have the same wrist size I can be more certain that ordering the bracelet is the smart move. It all depends on wrist size. I thought the Oris 65 Diver was going to be my one watch, but it was actually too thin for my 7.25in wrist. This is why I considered, and ended up getting the BB58. I knew the thicker case would look better. Looks like the BB Pro would suit those with a pretty big wrist size.

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah wrist size will definitely play a big role and actually wrist shape could be a factor as well here. Yeah the BB58 does wear quite a bit thicker than the Oris Divers 65, I tend to go for smaller watches so for me, I'm glad that the 40mm size and big dial was mitigated by the very thin looking case. But yeah anyone with a larger wrist will be able to wear the BB Pro without any issues

    Why didn’t they give it a rotating bezel? I have a GMT with a bezel that rotates. It was amazing fun to travel with it, track my hone time zone and still be able to time things like a parking meter. Sure, there is a bit of math (every even number is five minutes) but it works. Just wondering why not add the functionality of a rotating bezel. Thanks.

    We have the same watch and same car although mine has an mx5 badge. I’ve had my pro for about a month and I got it on the rubber, I originally thought it was too thick but I decided to go and try it on and I’m so glad I did, I think mine wears even thinner than yours as I wear it a bit tighter, I can’t stand it when my watch move’s (complete opposite to you). I think it looks better on the rubber but people keep posting things with it on the bracelet and I’m really tempted as that also looks superb. I would still be worried that if I set it to 169mm when my wrist expands to 175 I may be out of adjustment.
    I don’t think it’s fair to call it faux patina, I love the colour and the warmth it adds and in no way does it suggest it’s trying to look old.I think it’s a genuine design choice, it might have looked too stark if it was bright white but I may wrong.
    Mine also seems to be pretty accurate, about -0.3 seconds a day so I’m happy.
    I think the biggest negatives for me are no micro adjustment on the rubber strap and I find the gmt hand makes reading the time a bit more difficult, instead of a quick glimpse to read the time I have to actually look at the watch which is no bad thing.

    Can you please do weight comparison between the Tudor BB GMT and the Black Bay Pro? I know the weight is subjective to how many links are on but if you have both sized for the same wrist, then they should be comparable in weight difference ratio. Excellent review of a very nice watch. It looks thick and chunky compared to the BB58. Is it as chunky as the Tudor Pepsi GMT? I tried a Pepsi on at the AD the other day and it was too tall for my tastes.

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! compared to a BB58 it does look thicker but in terms of on the wrist feel it doesnt wear as thick as I was expecting it to.
      I actually owned a BB41 GMT when it first came out and as much as I liked the idea of it, i ended up returning it after a month. It was just too big in every way, 41mm width + 50mm lug to lug + a very stout 22mm lug width stance and bracelet + the weight of all the extra metal came together to make the watch way too chunky and heavy for me.
      The BB Pro on the other hand just wears like a BB58 that gained a little extra weight lol. Its seriously one of the most comfortable watches I've owned so if you like the watch definitely try it on!

    I've just discovered your channel, and I really like this review. My instinct on seeing this watch for the first time was I WANT ONE! The trouble is I already have a BB58 black and a Q series GMT. Mmm... Regarding the accuracy, my GMT is at least as good as yours. I haven't adjusted the time (as opposed to the date or time zone) since October 2021. That's nearly 7 months, and it's running about 30 seconds fast. It's uncanny... Regarding the size of the GMT (and by extension the Pro), it's marginally thicker (by about 0.5-1mm) than the Presage Sharp Edge GMT and the Longines Spirit Zulu Time GMT, yet nobody complains about the thickness of these watches. The Tudor watches give 200m water resistance, so that will add thickness, especially with the MT5652 ticking away inside. I have no problem sliding the GMT under any shirt cuff. The weight is pretty much inevitable with a complex movement that's built for work. I like the lume colour of the Pro. It adds warmth to the dial, which is good in cloudy, drizzly England. The same goes for the accents on the green bezel Zulu Time and the BB58 black. I feel that white/silver colour or blue work better in sunny conditions when the colour temperature lends itself better to these tones. So... how can I justify buying a Pro to my wife?

  • @viva360

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Oh yeah the caseback isnt unusually thick and feels like any other case back on other watches so it wears nice and flat on the wrist. The lugs also curve down nicely to give a close fit. The caseback on the pelagos is thicker although it doesnt float over my particular wrist but i can see how it can wear differently on different wrists tho. So far the BB Pro is the 2nd most comfortable watch i've owned after the 42mm Explorer II

      Thanks man glad you liked the video! Yeah definitely try it on, it might surprise you! I have a friend with a similar sized wrist so I'll have him try it on to get an idea of what its like on a smaller wrist.
      As of right now, no plans to sell the steinhart! For me that gives me an entirely different wearing experience because of how unique that 1655 dial is. The BB Pro on the other hand wears much more like a modern day gmt. But it will also depend on how much wrist time the steinhart will get going forward.

    Give this the BB GMT's pepsi bezel and I am all over this thing! If I had a say in the dimensions i'd go for something more like the old Brosnan seamasters (41mm across and 12mm thick, wears like a damn dream on my 7 inch/18cm wrist), but given how large the base movement is it's not bad going. Especially given that 70hr power reserve.

    Great review! Curious how this compares for you in wearing experience to the BB GMT Pepsi? I really like the look of the Pepsi and feel like my wrist can handle it given I wore a Seamaster Planet Ocean 42mm for 10 years. That watch was a bit of thick, heavy beast but I would think the Tudor would be less so?

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! yeah if you're ok with the 42mm planet ocean then the tudor pepsi gmt should be more than ok with you although the bracelet is wider at 22mm so it might visually have more wrist presence even tho it would feel smaller than than the Planet ocean.
      For me honestly a big problem with the BB Pepsi gmt was the 22mm bracelet that made the watch look big. I have worn the 42mm Planet Ocean before and while it was really thick, to my eyes it looked more proportionate because of the 20mm bracelet. Not sure how you feel about 22mm vs 20mm bracelets

    Speaking of Tudor what are your thoughts on the AD games played by their older brother Rolex? I’m after a black sub right now but have no purchase history, I’m debating building a relationship with my AD or going gray

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man this could be a whole video lol! But the games bad ADs play are awful when they basically extort you by saying that if you buy xy and z watches then you can get on the waitlist or when they basically sell everything to the grey market or only their absolute top clients.
      But for normal ADs, I'm more understanding of their situation since they only get a very small number of watches and there are many people who want those few watches. So in the end they have to keep their current clients happy and do their best not to sell to flippers. It doesnt make the situation feel better but at least its understandable.
      So I'd say try to find a sales associate or manager preferably who just like to talk about watches. If they see that you're just a watch guy, and that you wont run off and flip the watch, it is possible that you can get a submariner in a few months! Its more work than going for the grey market but its worth it in the long run

    Question for you. Is the dial width total the same as crystal size or aperture? For example, the Rolex Explorer 36mm has an aperture or sapphire crystal size of roughly 30mm. This is not very different from even the Rolex Submariner, so to me the dial size, aperture, crystal size are important factors, just like lug-to-lug. :)

    • @thewatchidiot

    Hey TWI, the BB Pro looks normal on your 7.5 inch wrist. I was at my AD yesterday and tried the BB 58 on a leather strap and Nato. The 39mm just looked small on my 7.25 inch wrist. How does this wear compared to the BB 58? Maybe the bracelet makes it look bigger 🤔

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah ok, it makes sense that the BB58 felt a bit thick on a nato, the slab sided midcase
      is accentuated by the thinness of the nato and a bit by the leather strap. It wears much better when its on a bracelet for sure! Compared to the BB58, the BB Pro does wear a bit thicker but its very well managed because the midcase isnt much thicker, so it really doesnt feel as thick as everyone continuously says. Its honestly one of the most comfortable watches I've ever owned!

  • @anthonystevens8683

    Nice one TWI! Your views closely mirror my own after over a month of ownership. Far too much emphasis is on the numbers, height, lug to lug on so many different watches with opinions made and shared without even seeing one. I'm OK with the slight faux aged lume as I think it matches closer with the yellow GMT hand. I also have the LHD Pelagos and BB58 black dial that both have the slight aged lume. Now if it had an orange GMT hand I doubt it would work as well as white. Oh and wile I'm on a roll the lume performance of those little slices of cheese it really is great. I look forward to the updates on your experience, for sure mine is a keeper. Now to see if I can get a bracelet with the brilliant T Fit clasp for my BB58....

      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks as always Anthony! Glad to hear that we're on the same page with this one! I really think this is an example of how plain numbers can paint a different picture bc as much as i knew that the watch would be ok i was worried about the thickness right up until i wore it for the first time. And since then its been probably the most comfortable watch I've owned maybe just short of my 42mm explorer II. I think this will end up as a keeper as well.
      Ah yeah, your tudors all have creamy lume! this is my first with it but its is hardly a big deal in the grand scheme of things and the main thing is that it doesnt take away from the experience of the watch at all. I'm so happy that they chose yellow for the gmt hand the effect would not have been the same with an orange hand for sure. And we're on the same page about trying the tfit clasp on the BB58! I'll be keeping everyone posted on that end😁

      I agree with all. It is a beautiful watch. I have a 7.5” wrist also, but the BB Pro looked like a hockey puck on my wrist. It may be because my wrist is broad and flat, so shape of the wrist may be a factor also. I tried it on the hybrid strap and, while it was comfortable, it just looked distinctly odd. Maybe the bracelet softens the look? I am not adverse to thicker watches… my favourite watch is the Squale Galeazzi, a 500m diver which is 16mm thick. I think the difference is that the Squale is 42mm in diameter and just suits the shape of my wrist.

      Loooool all is well but ah ok yeah the Chrono was definitely slabby for me too but the fact that the BB Pro has a smaller overall footprint with the 20mm bracelet made it work for me. Hopefully they reduce the thickness soon so that you can get it! I'd probably swap mine as well😂

  • @fire_watch7735

    Congrats. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take the thickness. Sorry to say but I’m predicting you’ll be making an entirely different video 6 months from considering you’ve spent nearly the full 13 minutes finding ways to justify its thickness. I’m a Tudor fanboy and still own two but they drive me crazy by incorporating things that collectors despise such as thickness, riveted bracelet, and fauxtina just so it doesn’t directly compete with Rolex. Tudor is still a luxury watch and if micro brands can deliver a sub 13mm GMT so should a luxury watch company like Tudor.

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lol my first reaction video was me trying to justify or at least cope with the news of it being 14.6mm. This video was me giving everyone the numbers, showing footage of it on the wrist/comparing it to other watches to give more context, and talking about why the thickness is no longer an issue, for me at least, now that I actually own it.
      I might change my opinion on other things like the fauxtina and the riveted bracelet, but considering the watch is already amongst the most comfortable watches I've owned, i dont think I'll be changing my mind on the ergonomics any time soon😂. But in the end we never know what the future holds!
      But yeah, as much as I love Tudor, they definitely should have made a thinner gmt movement for this watch considering they've had 4 years since the original BB41 GMT. I hope they're working on one as we speak lol

    You're dancing all around it. We all know the BB GMT Pepsi is a little thick for 41mm, and this BB Pro is also a little thick but for the smaller wrist, the Pro is the BB58 GMT alternative you all wanted! Unfortunately Tudor is not going to give you a 39mm thin GMT...that's offered as a Rolex in a thinner much more expensive movement! Get it?
    I haven't had anyone stop me on the street, give me a dirty look, and curse me out yet for wearing a slightly "thick" watch.

    I like your video. However, I just can't get over those rivets on the side of the new Tudor bracelets. There's no functionality for it. So that's basically why it's a no to me.

    I'm probably in the minority - but I'm not a fan of the watch, nor am I a fan of Tudor's releases this year. They have not paid any love to the BB 41 or the Pelly. I wish Tudor would move away from such an overfocus on the nostalgia plays

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah my first tudor was the Pelagos and it's my favorite watch, (although the BB Pro has jumped to the second spot)! But I'm definitely disappointed that year after year the Pelagos is neglected especially when the logical updates would be pretty easy to implement. Hopefully they do it soon!

      loooool yes thats a valid number to get a watch dismissed😂 the BB Pro is pricey but I'm glad they packed in a lot of quality (which is easy to do with given case thickness lol)

  • @mr.informal3669
    @mr.informal3669 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This watch is too thick and it did not need to be that thick. If you wear your watch tight then it will hide the bottom case cover but for the people who wear a bit loose no matter the wrist size, this watch will look tall or thick. it is that simple. Tudor shot themselves by doing this. I am sure it will be a good seller at first but I do not think the sales will be sustain.

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree, like i mentioned in the video, Tudor definitely should have developed a thinner gmt movement for BB58 sized watches! But i wear watches with bracelets quite loose and on the BB Pro the case back sinks into the wrist like any other watch bc the caseback thickness is pretty average. For me at least, the watch feels like a normal watch that happens to look a bit thick😁

    Feels like your trying to convince yourself about the watch and not the audience. It’s not so much the thickness it’s the slab side. It lacks any sort of refinement. Makes it look cheap - which is never good, especially when it’s already an ‘affordable’ Rolex homage. All in all your Steinhart was better.

    • @thewatchidiot

      if anything i had to refrain from using too many superlatives in this video bc i wanted to wait to confirm my feelings over a longer period of time! I think this watch might have broken into my keeper collection bc of the look and how insanely comfortable it is!
      The steinhart is a great watch for sure! I love the wild and bizarre 1655 dial on it however, the BB Pro offers quite a different look and feel bc of the super subdued dial so they both make me really happy in different ways.

    Honestly this is not by any means a good purchase. It's a shame that despite every resource available, Tudor refuses to update their tech to 21st century standards of solar quartz accuracy. It's unfortunate that these brands are on the embarrassing end of engineering. Sorry you made this mistake, I'm rooting for your better judgement for further purchases.
