It turned out so cool! Even the bright colored version was awesome. Now I really want to watch Addams Family again. I only watched the movies and the 1998 tv show, maybe I should try the older one.
Well done, Aya! I could't figure out why you were covering the wood clapboards with cardboard, but the end result is fabulous. And it shows that one does not need to buy very expensive wood ones to get a great result.
Thank you Rob! I am sure that does seem strange to start out with but I liked the freedom of being able to move it around and mess it up as I pleased. The kit clapboard was just too perfect for me :D

She cracked me up but also stumped me... I said "well its grey but probably used to be white but with brown wood showing through... it's complicated lol!!"
Great video! Just an FYI; most wax style coatings on commercial cardboard such as what you used for the siding are polyurethane coatings. Acetone strips the coating off without sanding; you need only to brush it on like paint and it will eat the glosscoat off, and the surface underneath is now inert and ready for paint. On the other hand, polyurethane is fire retardant, so it could be argued that leaving as much of it on and just scuffing the surface will leave the final project slightly more flame resistant than it was without the cardboard.
I tried this technique today, and it turned out really neat! I let a bit more brown show underneath (which I may go back and cover a bit), but the siding texture is so creepy! Thanks!
This was great! I've got The Painted Lady from Real Good Toys, I built it a couple of years ago. I'm now in the process of completely remodeling it. Stripping paint, removing doors, windows, stairs, shingles and also sanding off the siding. I want to give it a brick exterior so the pre-fabricated stuff has to go buh-bye.
@@BentleyHouseMinis I hope so! I'm hoping to do it without spending a small fortune on pre made brick siding. I'm currently experimenting with sandpaper that I've painted a with a wine red.
