When making poultry, I found that pressing bits of very rough sandpaper into the “skin” makes it look just like the goosebumps on real poultry skin. I would also use pastels to color before baking the clay, then do touch ups with acrylics after…..adding a little darker on areas that naturally get darker during baking. Making tiny lines along the length of the bottom part of the leg gives them that really cooked look. So much fun watching you prepare dinner! Are we having cranberries and pie?
Sandpaper!!! That is a GREAT suggestion! Thank you for the tip! Also i love the suggestion about the lines on legs and using pastel before baking.... You make me want to do another CHICKEN! I LOVE IT! By the way YES Cranberries and PIE are on the way..... Thank you for the suggestions and for watching!
I really like the blue nails. 🙂 The birds all turned out well. The dolls will have plenty to eat at Thanksgiving. We wouldn't want any of them to go hungry! My dolls are on a starvation diet because I haven't made a kitchen yet. 😆 It's next on the list, and I'm collecting lots of ideas for food- once I have a place to put it.
Thank you about my nails!LOLLOL! it is a real struggle trying to have pretty hands and be do crafts! Especially Miniatures! NO No! You must make the DOLLS Food ,even if you have to keep it in a "Cooler!" (giggles) at least a Chicken and a Cake! Alot of the things I have now I made them waaaay, before they were needed in the project, especially FOOD because you need so many food items to complete a kitchen. So just do a few basics even before you do your kitchen and save them in a small box ( hence the Cooler), youll be glad you did!!Thank you so much for being here aura! Your presence has been a great encouragement from the very beginning! Take Care!
@@littlegretchensworkshop7665 I'm glad my comments are encouraging! I am very close to finishing the kitchen- I hope to have the room assembled by the end of the week. I already have pots, pans, a tea set, and some dishes, and I've run out of room I'm willing to devote for miniatures w/o a home. I will start on the food once I have the room assembled and the hutch and shelves (already made!) in place. I do have a bottle of mustard, a bottle of milk, and a couple of cookies, but that's not very sustaining! 😂
Okay, can hardly wait for the real Thanksgiving now, those birds look yummy, especially with those bits of garnish. Here I am again, hungry right before bedtime, you're not so good for my diet!😋
Thank you! My chickens have come a long way! I LOVE to COOK so its really alot of FUN reproducing it is miniature! I'm So glad you are Enjoying this!!!
These are delightful and so realistic. I think I might add some shiny edge to the sliced turkey in darker glossy color for the skin. The slices looked real and so did the birds. Made me think about having Peking Duck in a Chinese restaurant as a child. We had to order over 24 hours in advance for that specialty.
You always make me Wana pull out my clay!! This was great..😆 I can tell that one of your birds are BBQ..and I loved that you showed your early bird 😁..looks like a lil baby....have you ever sculpted a doll or want too? I never have , but plan to..and I have awesome recommendations. I believe you got this!!!🥰 The birds look very detailed and oh so yummy..The bbq please..I do believe that's what I'll order.. 🤗
My mother once told me that when I was little, and she was putting the turkey in the oven, I would ask her if she was putting the baby in the oven. Real ones don't look like babies do they? Kind of weirded out to hear that. What WAS my little mind seeing?
@@recoveringsoul755 lol..I thought it looked more like she was sculpting a baby instead of a turkey 🥰 I also love seeing the progress..and that feeling of how far you've come!
LOLOLOLOL!!! I thought the same thing!!!! l definitely would like to sculpt a baby. Making delicate features is so much harder that making adult and mature faces. But i do definitely want to try one day soon!

I agree completely - it is so important to see your own progress. I think it is so important so see where you came from and where you went. :) I love the striations on the cut meat ~ it adds to the realism. The dolls are going to eat REALLY WELL!!!! So fun to see your earlier work ~ you are so talented and have advanced your process very nicely. I have never made a turkey, but you give me energy to create one! (by the way mine are always stuffed, so maybe I'll create one and show you!!)
Hello, I somehow missed a few of your videos, thank you for showing how to make these, I wouldn't have any idea where to start, I've only used clay once before, but these videos are giving me confidence to have a go and make something, they look very realistic , I'm looking forward to your next video, Best wishes from Diane in Yorkshire, England, UK 🇬🇧
YES l Love to hear that you are inspired to create! I try to break it down into small simple steps. Take your time and have Fun! It takes practice so be patient with yourself while you are learning ☺️ Take Care 💖
That was a really clever touch with the cut and sliced turkey being a different colour! I haven't had a roasted chicken in a hot minute, might have to buy a chicken from the supermarket tomorrow for dinner lol
THANKS! I like to look at pictures of real food to pick details to add to clay food! Speaking chickens. That's a running joke among my kids, because I buy them in bulk! Minimum of 6😀l LOVE CHICKEN BAKED /ROASTED/FRIED, SALAD/STIR FRY ETC💖💖💖💖😂🤣😂😆😆😅
@@littlegretchensworkshop7665 I LOVE chicken too, but we got given a whole bunch of ducks by a hunter though so we are slowly working our way through them...I think theres still 14 in the deep freeze lol. But I tell you what, potroast a duck and shred the meat and you can make the meanest duck burritos! Yummmmm
Those look so good! My birds (I mean my real chickens and turkey). Never got a garnish either, We just sort of hack it up and try not to cram it down our gullets in an uncivilized way! Well, It tasted good, even if it wasn't so pretty. Yours look delightful!
Thank You Kim! I got amused because I definitely do things with my miniature food that I don't do with my life-size food. I have NEVER actually garnished a chicken or a turkey before it went to the table¡!!!🤭🤣☺️😃💖
Makes you want to shrink down and live in that dollhouse. Wish I could send you pictures of my two houses, also I have a dollhouse someone gave me that needs serious overhaul. I’m wondering if you could use it? I’m in Lincoln Park, Wyandotte area so not far from you. If you can use it let me know, you can come here to pick it up if you like or I can meet you somewhere public etc.

Wow! The dolls will be eating good this holiday season! These look great, just perfect for a festive feast! :)
Thank You ☺️ There will be guests and travelers, so they need plenty of food available to feed everyone ❤️
Great job! You always have the best tips. I agree to keep early pieces you don't like. I love my "fails".
