- “Venkatachala Nilayam” is a melody that pays homage to Lord Venkateswara, a revered form of the Hindu deity Vishnu. This divine being is widely worshipped in the town of Tirumala Tirupati situated in Andhra Pradesh, India. The song holds significance. Is frequently performed during religious ceremonies, festivals and rituals.
The composition of this enchanting hymn is credited to Annamacharya, a saint poet who resided in the century. Annamacharya, also known as Annamayya was a composer and one of the earliest pioneers of Carnatic music-a classical musical tradition cherished in South India. Throughout his life he composed songs called “kirtanas ” each dedicated to various deities. However it was Lord Venkateswara who played a role in many of his mesmerizing compositions.
