- Sridevi Nrithyalaya presents Sri Ranganathar Odam.
This traditional song came to us few years ago. We were given the lyrics to choreograph and perform for a thematic presentation. Touched by its deep, philosophical content, we wanted to make a video and wished for this song to reach as many devotees as possible. Now that wish has come into fruition.
This production is made with absolute Bhakti and unconditional love for Andal and Sri Ranga Mannar. Anything in this that deserves appreciation, is purely the Lord's Grace and anything that attracts criticism, is our lacking as mere humans.

What a great video to begin this year! The Aandal Kalyanam sequence was like an extension of Nachiyar Thirumozhi, as Devi Parvati comes to deck up her sister-in-law Andal before her wedding. Mrinalini's soft, doting expressions made my heart melt, especially when she removed the trishty from Harinie akka, her smile demure and her wide eyes admiring the beautiful bride, not blinking lest they miss the visual delight. Harinie akka was replete with shringar rasa, her cheeks were full and soft with the unbridled joy of marrying her beloved Rangamannar. The shy yet sneaky look that she passed towards Bhairavi was the apt indication of her admiration that was riddled with the playfulness of a girl in love. Bhairavi is absolutely charming in this role- it's needless to say, with a beautiful Rangamannar like that, Andal couldn't stop falling in love. Bhairavi puts her eyes to good use when she looks at Harinie akka attentively and speaks simply with her eyes. Bhairavi's gait was so elegant, her posture straight and serious, her face carrying a blissful expression. Srikanth sir's voice was clear and reverberating; just like his dancers, he doesn't rush through his performance and sings to perfection! He has the singing style of a priest who is absorbed within the prayer and can't be perturbed by his surroundings. The mallari-like format of the composition, coupled with the different azhwars stepping in took the viewers back to the early Bhakti movement where Andal and others sang praises of the Lord while the temple bustled with divine music, devotees and festoons as the Azhwars sang. The narrating cast was timely and classy- the pose of Lord Vishnu resting in Vaikunth with Lakshmi ji was simply calming and showed their ability to stay patient and not dance impulsively. Overall, a spectacle!

If I am not wrong we all heard this in a TV channel program's performance by SDN.
Rangamannar was played by Suvasini, I guess! Overall I was so delighted because now this is official recording and we can watch many times without having to search that previous recording.
Once again, lets talk about how the concept was conceived - First: addition of nadhaswaram and Thavil has uplifted the mood of the boat travel,
Second: trying to bring the whole scene with other Gods/Goddess is fulfilling,
Third: I was enthralled by the detail in each azhwar's 'Aharya'. Especially we get to see Kumudavalli.
Overall - Its a triple delight for the auspicious occasion. As said by SDN, All fulfillment is through divinity, any criticism is mere human nature! Keep exploring SDN!
