That means Jones has about 0.0342% of 1 single milligram of blood of that substance in his body. Joe Rogan ignores the fact that last year the concentrations of the turinabol metabolite (M3) were 20-80 picograms/mL, now it's 60 picograms/mL. So it is essentially the same concentration as 18 months ago. In the 2017 violation the small concentration was explained to result from consumption of a tainted supplement in the weeks prior to the fight. Now they argue that the positive test results from the same ingestion through a so called "pulsing effect". Given that the metabolite was essentially detected at the same concentration I find this interpretation hard to believe. To me it would be more reasonable that Jones either a) constantly consumes small amounts of Turinabol (or another chlorinated steroid) or that b) he did consume larger amounts of Turinabol at an earlier time, which resulted in larger pools of the long-term metabolite stored in his fat tissue, which are released during the weight-cut leading up to the fight.

However, in the ruling for the 2017 violation they discussed the option that the detected metabolite might have not resulted from turinabol but from another chlorinated steroid (it seems like there is only a very small amount of scientific literature around the topic, so there are many open questions). This option was ruled less likely (or unlikely) to be true. However, if Jones was indeed taking some other chlorinated steroid than turinabol he might have been taking it again, because in his understanding they did not test him positive for what he was actually taking at the time. I guess psychologically it is different to test positive for something you were taking or if you test positive for a different steroid than what you were actually using. Of course this would still be stupid, but I guess if you are doing something over time and you optimize your procedures and get used to them, you might not wanna change it completely.

The issue I have with the explanation are the test numbers released. Over 2 years ago they detected 17 picograms of osterene in Tom Lawlers failed test. Jones last fail, I believe was between 20 and 80 picograms. Jones new test is 60. - Now, osterene may be easier to detect so we can scratch that. - Also, if we notice Jones's first test is expressed as a range (20-80) and the second was not (60), it does indicate more sophisticated testing. *BUT the problem is...* if we've had more sophisticated tests for say 6 months now, how is it that we haven't found even smaller traces in Jones *AND others* prior to this. 60 is a pretty big number. There were NO other tests with 10 or 20? Do terinabal picograms clump together? If terinabal does pulse as they say, how _volatile_ are the waves typically in the previous known cases? Does pulse behaviour vary significantly by person and/or within an athlete? You do realize the half life of these banned substances were studied decades ago based off the technology we had in the past. These drugs actually stay in your system much longer than people think but the quantity was nearly impossible to detect until the science behind it improved. We can assume all we want but no one knows for certain if Jon knowingly retook the banned substance or if it was still in his system from 2017. Only person who knows for certain is Jon himself. You can assume based off his previous allegations that he did retake something but again nothing is 100%.
Oral turinabol is fat soluble meaning it can be stored in your body fat. When Jon is out of competition like his previous tests he would not be losing any fat as he does not need to cut weight leaving the turinabol out of his urine and blood. But when he cuts weight and loses fat the turinabol will leave the fat and actively enter his body causing the positive test. That explains why the previous tests negative and the most recent is positive.
Why doesn't the UFC just produce their own supplements? They could even sell them as a premium product since they would have to pass third party testing. Fighters could get ufc supplements for free and advertise them as well. There is a lot of money in supplements and this way you would also eliminate the tainted supplement excuse.

Joe Rogan ignores the fact that last year the concentrations of the turinabol metabolite (M3) were 20-80 picograms/mL, now it's 60 picograms/mL. So it is essentially the same concentration as 18 months ago.
In the 2017 violation the small concentration was explained to result from consumption of a tainted supplement in the weeks prior to the fight. Now they argue that the positive test results from the same ingestion through a so called "pulsing effect". Given that the metabolite was essentially detected at the same concentration I find this interpretation hard to believe. To me it would be more reasonable that Jones either a) constantly consumes small amounts of Turinabol (or another chlorinated steroid) or that b) he did consume larger amounts of Turinabol at an earlier time, which resulted in larger pools of the long-term metabolite stored in his fat tissue, which are released during the weight-cut leading up to the fight.

The issue I have with the explanation are the test numbers released.
Over 2 years ago they detected 17 picograms of osterene in Tom Lawlers failed test.
Jones last fail, I believe was between 20 and 80 picograms.
Jones new test is 60.
- Now, osterene may be easier to detect so we can scratch that.
- Also, if we notice Jones's first test is expressed as a range (20-80) and the second was not (60), it does indicate more sophisticated testing.
*BUT the problem is...* if we've had more sophisticated tests for say 6 months now, how is it that we haven't found even smaller traces in Jones *AND others* prior to this.

You do realize the half life of these banned substances were studied decades ago based off the technology we had in the past. These drugs actually stay in your system much longer than people think but the quantity was nearly impossible to detect until the science behind it improved. We can assume all we want but no one knows for certain if Jon knowingly retook the banned substance or if it was still in his system from 2017. Only person who knows for certain is Jon himself. You can assume based off his previous allegations that he did retake something but again nothing is 100%.
Oral turinabol is fat soluble meaning it can be stored in your body fat. When Jon is out of competition like his previous tests he would not be losing any fat as he does not need to cut weight leaving the turinabol out of his urine and blood. But when he cuts weight and loses fat the turinabol will leave the fat and actively enter his body causing the positive test. That explains why the previous tests negative and the most recent is positive.

Why doesn't the UFC just produce their own supplements? They could even sell them as a premium product since they would have to pass third party testing. Fighters could get ufc supplements for free and advertise them as well. There is a lot of money in supplements and this way you would also eliminate the tainted supplement excuse.
