That is an insane tone, no effects, just the amps gain? Killer. I find my mark III combo to be incredible noisy, lots of buzz and feedback with any gain tones. Perhaps time to open it up and see what’s going on.

Yeah that is just the amp. If you are having noise issues the 1st thing to do is to get one new 12AX7 and start moving that around into different tube spots in the amp and see if the noise gets quieter. Old tubes get noisy. The other thing to consider is the fact that most boogies NEVER get serviced. Your MKIII may be well past its service date.

@@Curranproducer great call re shifting the new tube around, will do that. Yes, hasn’t been serviced in years. Perhaps a proper refresh would serve it well.

Metallica click lamb of god. I cant believe they used these or at least this captures the tone on the records. I wonder how difficult making a head version would be

The stripe marking is above the power cable area on the back

Did you have to pull the circuit board to get to all of the smaller electrolytic caps? I haven't figured out a good way to remove the radial cap from the board without removing all the knobs from the faceplate and possibly desoldering a few connections.

no, I try to do everything top down on boogies. the PCB's are so fragile. for the radial caps the guys at boogie cut the casing with a set of wire cutters and then pull all the cap out of the way to expose the legs, desolder, pop in the new cap. it is a little messy but it is how boogie does it. boogies are already a brutal repair bill off the rip.

One trick pony in that sense that it’s really one channel amp. Or you can switch between r2 and lead, that kinda works. Clean to lead not so much. Mark3s still have sublime cleans which does not get talked about. R2 has really nice character as well. But channel switching is useless anyway, just ride the guitar volume.

Why is the Mark IIC+ infamous?? lol Also the Marks are definitely not one-trick ponies.
