    TBH I don't understand why all sports don't have a ref constantly looking at monitors that is able to challenge or reverse any call.

      It would delay the game just like it does now in American football. I'm pretty sure if NFL could do it quicker, they would, as it interrupts the game and diffuses fan enthusiasm.

      so what if it delays the game a bit .. Isnt it worth a few moments to make sure its the right call so it doesnt end up on a list like this?

    I cringed at number 9 when she said "the luck of the Irish took a vacation". Do people not realise that phrase was used as a derogatory term to diminish any success an Irish person made of themselves?. The Irish are some of the unluckiest people in terms of the strife and hand in life they've been dealt the past 1000 years.

    • @stevejenner5270
      @stevejenner5270 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Murat Karaca It wasn't that bit which infuriated me though. It was the fact that France had one of their worst ever competitions due to a disagreement between players and the manager. The French players were so in the wrong that they had to personally apoligise to the manager and Nicholas Sarkozy. It annoys me how any other team (Northern Ireland) would have killed for a spot in the world cup yet France took it from them and threw it away.

    • @etlimenemen
      @etlimenemen 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Jenner that's the French teams internal issue, frankly it could have happened to any another team. France shouldn't have gone through for footballing reasons not because how they fucked up once they illegally went through. It annoys me that legend Henry did this to be honest. I still admire the man but on the other hand any player would have probably done that too. The game should have been replayed without a doubt.

    • @darioOrtega
      @darioOrtega 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      As a Mexican I was happy to beat the French in WC 2010. Everyone knew that Ireland deserved to be there and that coward T. Henry should have said something to the ref (like great players such as Di Canio and Klose had done in the past). But like i said, our victory over them and their implosion in South Africa is dedicated to our Irish brothers across the Atlantic!...Go Mexico and Ireland, BROTHERS IN GREEN!!!...

      It could have been called an "Illegal Use of Hands and Arms" or a "push off"... but he got away with it. Here is what the rule states. The bold bit is important to that moment.
      A player is not allowed to use their hands or arms to force their way past an opponent or push an opponent aside. It also is not legal for a player to use their hands or arms to prevent an opponent from freely moving anywhere on the basketball court. *It is not legal for a player dribbling or shooting the ball to push away a defender who is attempting to steal the ball or block a shot.*

    Th Wembley Goal '66 is by far the most controversial referee decision. I'm not commenting wether the decision was right or wrong, but what's important is that to this day, there does not seem to be a common agreement on to the topic. So basically 50 years later it's still a highly discussed incident in sports' history. The fact that it is not even listed in this video is a joke.

      Robert Coulter I understand that. There were bad calls throughout the entire game and series, specifically game 6. It's just like number 2 on this list. The entire game was rigged and bad refereeing decided the outcome. They picked the most controversial call in that game which was when time was added back on the clock. A call that sticks out in the Lakers-Kings game was when Kobe elbowed Mike Bibby in the face in the finals moments and there was no call while Bibby was on the ground bleeding.

      facts show the Kings took more free throw attempts and committed fewer fouls than the lakers in that series....
      that is a fact....the officiating favored the Kings.....that's a documented historical fact....
      Shaq and Kobe are 2 of the alltime leaders in free throw attempts,and the kings STILL shot more free throws than the lakers did in that series
      Kings took 204 free throws in the series....
      Lakers took 185 free throws in the series...
      advantage Kings..
      Kings committed 173 fouls..
      Lakers commited 179 fouls..
      advantage Kings..
      kings won game 2 and had a 38-25 edge in free throw attempts...horry fouled out..
      kings won game 3 and had a 35-15 adge in free throw attempts...kobe fouled out...
      kings won game 5 and had a 33-23 edge in free throw attempts....shaq fouled out and attempted 1 free throw..
      Kings had a 106 to 63 FTA advantage in the 3 games they won.....with horry,kobe,and shaq each having a game in which they fouled out and the team lost...
      these are the facts....they are undisputed...refs favored the Kings
      Lakers were screwed by the refs.....good thing they had Shaq

      Kobe Not Top 100 Game 6 was the most controversial game. The Lakers were screwed by the ref? Ha!! Go watch the highlights from game 6 please. Maybe I went too far to say the entire series was rigged, but I don't think you can say there wasn't something wrong with game 6. The Kings played better, being the better team. The Kings win that game and the series is over. I remember watching this game and shaking my head, vowing to never watch NBA basketball again until David Stern was gone (I didn't stick to this vow). The Lakers shot 26 free throws in the 4th quarter... Do I need to repeat that? Shaq was clotheslining players who drove to the basket, Larry Bird style, and didn't get called for them. However, if Pollard was a victim of Shaw catching the ball in the post the whistle blew immediately. Tim Donaghy filed a court document saying the refs were told to do what favors NBA marketing. And maybe the most notorious of all, the obvious, blatant elbow Bibby took too the face from Kobe during the final moments that, you guessed it, wasn't even called. The guy was laying on the ground bleeding. I think it's safe to say you are just another biased Lakers fan. That's OK tho.

Had it been a playoff game or a late season moment that decided the champion then maybe, but if you remember the packers won the division that year anyway so the game wasn't really that important at all.

    In the summer of 2010 Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga was 26 outs towards a perfect game. On the last out of the game the batter was thrown out by a full half step and the ump blew the call and called the runner safe. If they had stuck to their premise, to rank the entries by importance of the game, there would've been a lot more football on this list. Like the Wembley goal of 1966, the "reverse Wembley goal" 2010, the Grosso penalty in 2006 all the screw-ups in the 2002 world championship, since all those things happened in world championships, not some national league.

      I will be forever ashamed for that "helping hand" from Henry, who I highly estimated before that incident. I mean, great players don't need such tricks to win a game, it's like cancer as it happens nowadays in the NBA with all the flopping.
      Considering the two games, Ireland clearly was the best team! French players may get more exposition as most of them play for great teams, but they did not show great confidence and their game play was pure shit. On the contrary, Ireland showed great team effort, in terms of combativity, enthusiasm, tactic and so much more aspects. You got robbed and that's a shame, mostly because the only 3 (or 5?) persons on the planet that did not saw the foul were the officials attending that game! Platini must change his mind on video assistance for referees, if the game is televised or has recording equipment then it should be used, at least for the big events, that is to say Eurocup, World cup and the Champs League!
      I'm still wondering what the Irish team would have done in that 2010 championship for they were so pleasant to watch, that's the kind of football I like.
      I'm for the french team, that needs no say, but every supporter who's aware that sport is not war or a political tribune should be fair enough to say that Ireland deserved to go instead of France simply because they were the best team and by far! I guess France got their turn too, if you remember what occurred during this competition. I prefer not to be going to the WC than to go in such a way, that has nothing to do with sportsmanship and there should rules taken to prevent from this to happen in the future. The UEFA and the FIFA should really do something because if they don't, that means they accept those behaviors as a "collateral damage" or as pure fate and destiny and it's not acceptable.
      Yep, fair play is advertised so massively by football instances but is rarely seen in game. You'll see more often divers, cheaters and dirty players than true respect for the opponent team. When you think about it, you can get hurt or killed for a simple game of football, how crazy is that?
      Too much money in sports caused its own loss, or at least the loss of the original spirit of these sports...

    Uruguay vs Ghana 2010 FIFA World Cup, Luis Suarez use his hands to avoid a goal from Ghana, but after all that, the refeere take a inxistent foul for Ghana and Suarez makes justice for Uruguay

      that can't be a controversial call, since it didn't affect the outcome of the match, if ghana would have won, then you have an argument, but since they didn't its not controversial.

      John Colt obviously you are clearly wrong if you think it was unfair for Ghana. The ref did the correct thing, and really he did the only thing that should have been done.What do you expect the ref to do? give Ghana the goal? Santiago is right, one the foul didn't exist and two the Ghana players were clearly offside, so if Ghana would have won then yes, it would have been very controversial.

      littlezit2 Actually, you're wrong. Germany probably would have won. After all, Germany has beaten England in practically every important match throughout history (with a few minor exception), so what makes you think this is any different? England did not have a better team than Germany. It was a very balanced match. Besides, the Germans managed to not concede again (aside from Hurst's last goal where all the German defenders went up to try to score), so what makes you think England could have scored on them again? As far as I know, Germany is and was the better team.

    • @taylorarsenault6308
      @taylorarsenault6308 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I'm surprised as well. Maybe not top five in my opinion, but maybe a 7. The call was obviously blown. And a missed offensive pass interference would've ended it as well. And I guess I'm not sure on this, but when the Seahawks were awarded with the touchdown, the score was now 12-13 Seahawks with no time left. The game was already over, yet they let the Seahawks kick the extra point. Which was unnecessary (unless its buried in the rule book somewhere). But even after all that, I'd be willing to let it go, when some Seahawks fans just admit it was a terrible call. I respect those who admit it, and understand it wasn't the fans fault for the bad call, but those who stand by the touchdown have a poor argument.

    I know I am throwing stones at a hornets nest here but putting michael jordan's shot against the jazz in here is just stupid. There is absolutely no way you can tell by that clip whether or not jordan is (intentionally or otherwise) exerting enough force on russell's leg to make move in the other direction. On the contrary, it seems much much more likely that michael jordan just crossed him up and left him in the dust.
