Bizarre, I thought that it was an Otter bopping on the Loch. Thumbs up to mum. Your jumper is a right Bobby dazzler. 👌 Seasons greetings to you and your mother, all the best in 25. X
Another fabulous video! I did this route in reverse. I flew to Inverness, hired a car and drove to the Skye Bridge in summer. The journey was about 100 miles but it took me 4 hours because I kept stopping to take photos! I didn't have time to go inside Eilean Donan Castle but I stopped for a break there. There is a webcam there and I told my dad to check it and he saw me on it haha. The whole route is stunning!
@bilingualbackpacker awe thanks very much, the weather played a big part in it as I think its always does. Oh gosh you're the same as Mum and I then ha, taking pictures and I rarely post them anywhere, I must share them on instagram. I had no idea about the webcam, how cool was that, hope you were waving at him. It's a fabulous drive, great views for sure, you need to give yourself extra time for the drive. Ix
Ì wasn't really feeling Christmas's to be honest... Then Princess Iona delivers this incredible show. Now iam pretty sure Santa is Scottish and we can't wait for Xmas ❤❤
@garylovattlovatt193 oh thats so lovely Gary, glad to have sprinkled some xmas fairy dust over the lovattlovatt's. We wish you a merry Christmas and hope to be back here before Santa...or at least Hogmanay - all depends how much Downpour is consumed haha❤️ Ix
@kaynotman620 hello Ontario! I've got a few lovely subscribers in Vancouver but none in Ontario that I'm aware of, so lovely of you to message me. Welcome, and I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos. I mean, it's a bit of a laugh & fun. Haha do Nova Scotia have creel trees, well there you go. I wonder if we stole the idea from you guys or vice versa. Thank you for messaging. Ix
Thanks for another Otter free video, Iona. The weather looks wonderful there right now, considering down here we're experiencing a stinking hot, extreme Summer with the bushfire danger increasing everyday. P.S. I think you may have taken one hundred years off the age of Inverness Cathedral.@17:17.
Oh no way so I have! How on earth do I fix that I wonder🙈😂😂 hiw funny tho, 350 odd people and you’re the only one who noticed! Good craic thanks for pointing it out. Oh I know very different weather here to you. Very different here this week to last week or the week before when I filmed this video, it’s been terrible storms past 2 days. Ha otter free😂😂👍 Ix
@christinegodley oh its fabulous isn't it, love it. The only thing was Mum an dI were disappointed with the loos this time. They were cold, the soap was the same brand I use to clean my shower, you know that astonish stuff, costs are clearly catching up there. And nowhere near as many outside lights as they usually have. Wishing you the same, thank you for your comments and watching my videos this year. Ix
Thanks Iona, stayed in the Highland hotel next to the railway station, They used to do a great afternoon tea. Looking forward to the Skye vlog, I worked on the Skye bridge while it was being built. God bless x
@alanlister8810 Alan, looks like they still do, Mum and I walked past some people having afternoon tea and in fact it was part of a deal we were going to take for staying 2 nights but worked out cheaper to do it the way we did, and we weren't sure where we would be in the afternoon, ha typical we can't stick to any plans haha. Oh yes I think you said that about the bridge, when were you last there? Hope you enjoy the Skye videos. Have a lovely time over the festive period and I look forward to more videos and chat soon. Ix
Great vlog once again Iona. I loved the winter landscapes. Ullapool looked dead in the winter, in summer it's jumpin' with people. I'm looking forward to the Skye video, been there a few times. Well you and your mum enjoy Christmas and all the best for 2025 with more fascinating vlogs. Bye the noo x
@daviemcf hey Davie, it was the perfect weather for that drive; we were so lucky. Ullapool is quiet isn't it, so was Portree too, huge difference from the summer months. I wish you a lovely time over this festive period too and I look forward to 2025 with all you guys. I've got a few to go up before then tho so it's not happy new year yet. Ciao, Ix
Oh what beautiful Scenery, love the cloud inversions. I was on that road to and from Kyle of Lochalsh only a few weeks ago, very sad but I get excited as I drive closer to Skye Bridge. Have you been to the Coffee Bothy at Broadford? They make lovely coffee and cakes, the staff are lovely too. It’s become a tradition when we are up that way to call in. Raasay is a great little island, I had a wee dram of Raasay a couple of days ago. Not been across for a couple of years though, there was a really friendly bloke working on the ferry called John, after talking to him it turned out he was from just a few miles away from where I live. That was interesting to see Inverness, Ive never stopped there before to look around. We have always been on our way somewhere so not had the time to stop. Im thinking now perhaps we should stop and take a look around. I’m guessing you will of gone home via Uig (pronounced with a small u, see I’m learning). I will be visit Uig in spring time to stock up on some of their stout, it’s lovely it reminds me of a peated whisky but only one bottle at a time as it’s quite strong stuff. Enjoy your travels and Happy Christmas
@dieselbushcraft1299 hey! Oh I know wasnt it amazing, also highlighted that I need to wash my windscreen ha. I have not been there, you know Ive never had a cup of coffee in my life but the cake would make me stop for sure ha. We did go home via Big (wee u you're right). Mum went to Tarbert (Harris) and I went to Lochmaddy (North Uist). Merry Christmas to you, looking forward to hearing from you again. Hope you have a wee dram at xmas. Slainte. Ix
Those frosty scenes are magnificent! We stayed at the same hotel a couple of times. I had to laugh when you showed the lobby restroom. My sister took a picture of me in there, spinning around with my arms out. It's huge! Was that a Millionaires Bar your Mum had? I love those! Thanks & looking forward to Skye. 😄
@wendym-mu5dw no way did you! How funny, it's so handy and central and cheap so an all round good hotel. Yes thats right she enjoyed it and I got a taste too, we shared both. I hope you and your sister have a great time over the festive period and when the Skye video goes up you can see places you recognise! Ix
@@IonaMacinnes Great, thanks. I'll have a look for one before I go to the islands. Last time I was driving around on my own and missed filming all the scenery.
Wouldn't it be lovely if we could have the frosty scenes returning this week. Ix

Hi Iona - What type of camera do you use in the car? The footage is nice and stable!
@bilingualbackpacker hey, its the GoPro my brother gave me, it's pretty good for the car footage isn't it. Ix

I got a special thing that it attaches to so it’s on the window and I just leave it on there so it’s handy. Ix
