    Terrific video! Thanks for sharing a rather intimate view of your system and of your listening philosophy. It was beautiful to say the least and touched on aspects of the hobby (and then some) that I am experiencing first hand at a much lesser scale. You summarized all of those sentiments nicely.

    This is lovely. Regardless of equipment (and snippy comments) I love the fact that he ends with the real point: enjoying the music. I’m working on building and tweaking a system that will cost less than 1/10th of Jason’s system and I know I will get just as much enjoyment. And I don’t begrudge ANYONE the cost of their system as long as they love the music it reproduces. The cost is nobody’s damn business.

    He could save about 25 minutes in this video and just show a snap shot of his price list breakdown showing the cost to manufacturers for a mediocre review, a good review, and excellent review, and the very costly - "lifts all veils with ruthless transparency" review. This is about as clear a demonstration of FRAUD as you are ever likely to encounter on TH-cam.

    You would get a better soundstage if you have the speakers parallel to each other. Also let the speakers out into the room about 3ft or 4ft for sound testing.. Place the speakers slightly closed to each other too. You would be amazed at the results. Everyone seems to place the amps between the speakers and all the other components, move these to the rear out the way or to the side.

      @Pete is never wrong You miss my point. We can listen to music through equipment or we cal listen to the equipment's performance without prioritising the music. Listen to how he expresses himself - it is not "my music sounds good represented by these speakers/amp/cd player/turntable", but the speakers/amp/cd player/turntable sounds good. There is a difference, and this difference is clear in where the emphasis is.

    To much coloration in those cement deader than dead cabinets. But they cant do so much to the backwawe that will Color the sound IF you try to get a dead cabinet and only will give you tremendous problems with colorations you be aware of if you listen closely. Call me dumb, i dont mind 😉 I love "live" cabinets, with real Wood, not mdf!!! Baltic birch plywood is fine, all real tonewoods are. Audio Note AN-E is an example of trying to get the most oit of the cabinets, not deaden it. Balance is the key! Not only is the sound of them like day and night, alive and play music as it sounds unamplified.

    No doubt his love of & joy from the music is genuine . But with probably more than $120k of stuff, he has no comfortable listening chair. His wires alone probably cost more than my ead preamp, ati amp, sch iit dac, OPPO 203 player, Yamaha avr and Thiel,bic, klipsch,psa sub 11.2 setup. Took me 35 years to learn,trade up, and accumulate my stuff and am fortunate to do so. Kinda feel sorry for him-he sits on stuff 1 level up from those 1930 stadium benches and his stuff is just not part of the real world the rest of us live in. I do not begrudge him his happiness just am amazed.

    • @file1man
      @file1man 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I watched the whole video & didn't see 1 thing that might affordably help improve my system or anyone else's system. Perhaps the point is to see a guy living his passion for music. And I do wonder how he earned the $120k for all that. Never realized writing for a stereo magazine could be that lucrative

    • @calebkeen8967
      @calebkeen8967 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@file1man He didn't buy any of that stuff except maybe the speakers (and even then he probably got it at manufacturer's cost). Everything is almost certainly provided as long-term loan in return for his reviews in Stereophile.
