      No way! I thought yours was the V021. Oh well. Loved your pair and glad to hear you didn't have any of the odd wax issue with yours. I think after the next wear mine will be completely sorted out. Beautiful shoes and fit me really well.

      I have patina work from both of you masters. Both are fantastic!! You cannot beat the Nobleshoe patina service on new shoes and MBshoedoc turned a pair of Barkers of eBay in to beauts!!

      It's a bold color but I got quite a few compliments on these. I think both an olive green and this emerald green can be totally wearable 👌👍

    Usually I do not like a plain derby style shoe, but this is just too good to not like it... marvelous!!

    • @mbshoedoc
      @mbshoedoc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm exactly the same. This one has the sleek look of a wholecut. Not the typical clunky derby. The green may not be for everyone but it is available in any patina color from mild to wild.

      Ha, yes this is an old antique desk that we really didn't have a purpose for so I started to use it for patina work. It is developing a patina all its own now. And yes the patina work on this Septieme Largeur pair is fantastic.

    Thanks Doc! I've always been curious about the brand too. I'm an absolute lover of outsoles in general and S.L. was so beautiful at that price that I was always scared of the quality of leather. Was worried it was going to be a very stiff leather. Thanks!

    • @mbshoedoc
      @mbshoedoc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Here’s my own review, since I own 6 pairs of this brand (almost all of my shoes are from Septième Largeur). It’s a great brand ! Excellent quality leather, great finishes, patinas are really cool, shoe trees are now designed to fit the shoe perfectly in the best possible wood
    So far I don’t have anything negative to say, if you have the opportunity go to one of their shops in Paris, they will give you the best possible advices

    • @mbshoedoc
      @mbshoedoc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have been great to communicate with and I am inpressed with all their patinas. I may look to try another pair in the future since there was the flaking issue on these. I expect the next pair will be perfect.

    • @186bingo
      @186bingo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How is the fitment? I am blessed with a wider foot, wearing an 11E US from AE or 10G from TLB. For standard width I have to go with 11.5 US or 10.5 UK. I wrote to their customer service and they said based on my foot length I need a size 9 UK which sounded insane. I know they have "thin" and "wide" lasts. What would you gents suggest I order?

    • @mbshoedoc
      @mbshoedoc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@186bingo I found my pair to fit mostly true to size and took the same size I do in most other UK brands. I expect you would do the same. 9UK sounds wrong for a 10.5E US. I would reach out again to them. I took the same size as my TLB.

      @@186bingo It's kinda odd, I would take my usual size as well. I bought my first pair in one of their shops, and it fits me perfectly today (the leather they use is quite stiff the first time you wear the shoe).
      If you want to order, try the wide last.

    Do you ever run into streaky lines when stripping a shoe with Acetone, where some of the factory finish stays dark, if so would you recommend keep stripping these areas before dying?

    • @mbshoedoc
      @mbshoedoc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not run into streaky lines too much but on the rare occasions that there is a bit of darker areas left I tend to leave them and incorporate them into the patina. Some of my favorite patinas I have done were on pairs with a somewhat incomplete strip. I have one that I did recently that I will post a video on soon that came out looking like woodgrain and I love it!

      I definitely could. I'm sure I did mention the price somewhere in there but that is the negative of going in scripted off the cuff. I may not necessarily present things in the most logical order. I'll consider having a more set agenda at least for all the reviews.

    • @mbshoedoc
      @mbshoedoc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly it's hard for me to assess leather quality on mid tier brands. They all feel about the same to me. I can feel a difference in cheap pairs and really high end pairs but around the $300-$500 range I don't detect a lot of difference...they are all good. Hope that is a fair answer.

    Very disappointing fault of the shoe. I had planned on buying....but now I have serious reservations.

    • @mbshoedoc
      @mbshoedoc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can certainly understand that. But again they said they have never seen this happen before in 12 years of making shoes and I honestly believe them. They also told me that they would accept an exchange if something like this were to ever happen again. I'm going to look and see if I can't review another pair in the near future to give people better peace of mind 👍

      I owned 6 pairs from 7L, two patinas included, I don’t recommend using mirror gloss on fresh patinas, instead use first a gentle conditioner, creams with the appropriate colors, and then shine with wax.
      Never had any problems there
