    You're just too cute! I'm mainly a crocheter but prefer the finished look of knitting. Anyways I want to thank you for your wonderful tuts, and when I am not having such a great day( have some serious health issues I am dealing with) I come and just watch your videos and your quirkiness makes me smile so I'd like to thank you for that as well! I mainly knit hats, fingerless gloves, scarves for the homeless when I do knit, and crochet prayer shawls for those who may need a little pick me up. Your tuts have inspired me to start knitting shawls instead. This will be my first one, and after this one( if it doesn't take me forever as I am faster at crocheting)I want to try the Love one. Again, thank you! God bless!

    I recently purchased the pattern and started making one of these. My only issue is that I think I'm doing something wrong. Because my yarn over keeps ending up on the other side of my stitch marker in the following round. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. 🤔

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Beverly, thank you for your comment. You're not doing anything wrong. Sometimes that happens with yarn overs, especially if the stitch markers are small or very large. So whenever you see that happening check where the yarn over is supposed to be and just move it over to that spot (passing it over the stitch marker if the stitch marker is small or through the stitch marker if it is big).
      I hope this helps and works out for you! 💕

    • @ExpressionFiberArts

      If you used the recommended Sincere Sock yarn, you'll probably get a couple of additional inches on each side from wet blocking. If you used another yarn, it will depend on its fiber content.

    What'll happen if I leave out the "yarn over" step?

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Omitting the yarn over will alter the shape of the shawl and change the stitch counts, since the yarn overs add stitches. Along with the kfb's, the yarn overs increase the sides of the shawl, which is what creates the triangular shape. If you don't like the look of the yarn overs, you could substitute a kfb or other stitch that adds 1 stitch.

    I just have to let you know how much peace and calm you bring to peoples lives! We all know life isn’t perfect and what we see on the screen isn’t what defines a whole person but you emit a positive and peaceful spirit. You help people learn a craft that can be a form of therapy for those who engage in it. You even make the learning process a peaceful experience , when at times, it can be a stressful trial for those just learning. I know how much work the videos take to make but I love that you also give us the clips that don’t always go as planned. But in my opinion those clips are what show us it’s ok to be who you are. You are a Blessing!!!

    I'm not sure why this isn't working out. In the very beginning after the set up row, and row 1,
    Row 2 of the repeat each time I have a extra YO stitch and can't slip the second marker over. I've pulled it out 3 times now and it keeps happening. Any help on why this is happening? Would it be helpful when I (YO) if the next stitch is a K stitch, YO knitwise, and when the next stitch is a P then YO purlwise? Any help would be appreciated.

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure happy to help! I would count your stitches after working Row 1 to make sure you have the correct number of yarn overs, before proceeding to row 2. I am not sure it would make a different which way you yo, but definitely give that a try if you feel it would help!

  • @sheryloermann234
    @sheryloermann234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am having problems with center of row 1. I know how to yarn over and the stitch count is correct. When I go to the next row, yarn over, slip marker, knit 1...there are usually more than just 1 knit stitch. The stitches in the center are increasing between the yo, sm, knit... stitch number increases, yo knit to the last 3 stitches. I have ripped this out 4 times and I'm about ready to do something different.....ACK! I know it's not the instructions or the video...I'm just not getting it....

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sheryl, it sounds like you might be slipping the marker in the wrong place. Make sure to work the yarn overs on the OUTSIDE of the markers, so the stitch count between the markers stays the same. I hope that solves the problem!

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no sorry to hear that. How about casting on the amount of sts you would pick up along the side edge and quickly increase the stitches in the next 2 rows, so that you have the number of stitches that you should start with after the garter tab.
      Does that make sense? Have a great day. 💕

    Any tips for how to make this with a level 4 or 5 string instead of using fingering sock yarn? What size needles would I need/ which yarn would be a good substitute to ensure it’s still soft and cozy and not too stiff?

      You sure could! You can use any weight of yarn. Just knit until your heart is content and when the shawl is the size you like, bind off. ❤️

    Hi! I am making this shawl but am using slightly larger yarn/needles (baby banket 3 yarn and US size 4 needles) and it is curling. Does anyone know if it will be ok when I am done or should I start over? Thanks :)

      Hi there, do you mean around the edges? That happens very often with stockinette stitches. That should straighten out once you block your shawl.
      I hope this helps. Have a lovely day! 🩷

    Commenting because I bought myself some fingering weight yarn for my b-day recently, and wanted to make this! Thank you for the clear, simple instructions. I had fun practicing along while watching! Question, though; will this need to be blocked once it's complete?

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it would be a great idea to block it once finished. It will definitely make your shawl look more "finished" and will show off those stitches you worked so hard on. ❤️

    I have a problem with this pattern. I seem to be increasing the number of stitches between the marker i.e. in the middle of the work. Is this right? (havent knitted for years so might be missing something

    Thank you for the video, I was knitting along with you and decided to purchase the pattern for the garter edging directions. I have a total of 915 yards of fine (#2) yarn, Brand is Hempathy ( durable cotton,hemp,modal blend) by: Elsebeth Lavold. The color is sort of a seafoam green. It splits easy while knitting. I ordered it to make lace curtains but have since decided to make a shawl. Unrelated, but it must be nice to be long waisted. I have a very short waist and long legs with a 32 inch inseam so I look goofy in highrise pants and tucked in tops and with belts. Your outfit looks cute on your figure.

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think that's correct. You should always have the same amount of stitches on both sides. Are you sure you're increasing on both sides of the markers and also on both edges?

    I want to make this, but I am unsure if I have enough yarn to do it or if the yarn I want to use can be used on this. My yarn has about 300 yards (also I am around 150 cm tall) and it is 75% acrylic and 25% wool. On the label, it says it is for 3-4 mm needles. Thank you for this gorgeous pattern and for helping me sort this through. :)

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the large sample shown, we used 8.5 oz total or 1,061 yards. For the small sample shown, we used 3.1 oz or 387 yards. 💕

      @@ExpressionFiberArts So I think I may have enough yarn, but can I use that type of yarn: 75% acrylic and 25% wool? I also have another type of yarn which is 65% wool and 35% silk.
