  • It's been more than 4 months on the road for us, and we've made a few changes to our SUBOVERLAND since we got started on this adventure!
    Tune in as we go through the things that work really well, as well as mentioning things that haven't really worked and what we've done to fix them. We also show off a few of our inventions (most of them involve velcro).

    Super cool! My wife and I did our honeymoon as a month long roadtrip living out of our small SUV and camping. Love the set-up!

    recently saw the video on Suboverland by SUV RVing, and the algorithm has led me to your videos. For which I'm grateful! I've been thinking about this large SUV over a van and appreciate being able to see some of the pros and cons.
    Two of the things from I had already thought about and was glad to see you agreed - screen for the skylight and not dividing the space with a curtain but insulating the front windows instead. Those things make a lot of sense.
    These seem like positive changes, but I'm still a little confused by the kitchen set up. Of course I know it's really difficult organizing a small space - every move has trade offs for functionality, aesthetics etc. But I'm someone who's fairly into the cooking part and it seems like you have the kitchen divided into 3 locations. I'd want it all in one. I'd maybe put the fridge in the back and have the rear half (or more) of the cubbies, plus at least one slideout drawer, just for all the kitchen stuff, pantry items. But then I'm only one person and don't plan to have a full bed across the width of the back.

    • @NorelleandDanny
      @NorelleandDanny  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Michael, I never thought of putting the fridge in the back! That's genius... But you'd have to move the bed forward, but that could work if you just had a single bed on the side! My wheels are turning! -d

    • @michaelfitzhenry
      @michaelfitzhenry 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NorelleandDanny My wheels are turning too! I'm still an armchair quarterback at this point, but the scheming is part of the fun I guess.
      With the kitchen 100% in back you can have it work like a full on camp chuckwagon with good weather. But in bad weather you could still do basic prep or even just make coffee, and you'd everything you need right there, under the exhaust fan, with a rear window you can crack.

King and Queen Velcro, rulers of the the Velcro Galaxy, Captain of the the National Velcro Team, trailblazers into the new Velcro Era, essential Velcro workers during the coronavirus pandemic, daily mantra - "I Velcro, therefore i am", Favorite quote: I velcro, you velcro, we all velcro for velcro, blackbelts in Velcro, creators of the velcro blankets..........just kidding, took it a lil overboard, but you guys are awesome, :) its so aweseome to see you guys do rhe dam thing and get it done in the SUV, i will say that Norelle, you look much healthier in this video then the original vihicle you made when you first got the vehicle. (not sayin you looked unhealthy in any way) your skin looks healthier, looks like maybe diets been healthier, and best of all it seemed like you smiled a lot more, anyways you guys rock! thinks for the vid!

    I see velcro on the face of the passenger airbag. Not sure what's going on there, but please don't stick stuff there when the vehicle is in motion. If that bag detonates, what's hanging there will say "HELLO" to your face with zero warning. Great video!

    Hey, i love the creativity you guys have put into the suburban! If we didn't have kids and dogs we'd go this route as well. My husband loves your toilet paper bucket. Lol I'm not sure if you've seen our reno videos but our bathroom is like an old barn theme and he said if we put a little bucket like that on a pedestal it would match perfectly. Lol so if we do that we'll give your channel a shout out for giving us the idea. 😁

      Thanks! We have two of those buckets, the other acts as a cup holder when we’re chilling on the bed watching TH-cam and Netflix on our iPad. We mount it on the wall with the lights and move the pillows to the other side to make a couch... whoever sits closer to the back door need a cup holder, and it works perfectly...
      We’ll checkout the Reno videos for sure!

    • @NorelleandDanny

      Hi Helen, The magnets themselves were plenty strong, however the condensation made their sticky backs come off the glass. We told Grady about the problem, but he hasn’t had an issue before with the setup, so it could just be us and all the different climates we’ve been in.
