Helt fair. Uanset hvad man end mener om at deltage i en krig, han ikke har noget personligt i klemme i, så må man sgu bare tage hatten af for hans cojones.

During The Winter War some Danish soldiers desserted and went to fight with the Finns.
When they came back home they faced Martial Court......
They got a slap on their hands 😩 and two pads on their backs 🤗

German, 53 - seeing people go into this out of their own will to help. Not for glory, but to help one nation against it's obvious bully neighbour. They weren't pressured into it, there weren't told lies. They DECIDED to go.
To say I have high respect for them would be an understatement.
Also they give me back some of my conviction that Humanity isn't completely made up of arseholes.

    Nice documentary!
I think the laws differ in various countries, I remember reading about it on wiki, in some countries it's totally illegal, and some countries have even awarded citizens(e.g czech republic) who have volunteered, it's fully legal for us swedes, I even know a couple who have rejoined SWE Armed Forces after being in Ukraine, one is an officers cadet now(I believe he was in Ukraine for circa 2 years, early 2022- early 2024), so there doesn't seem to be any issues or obstacles, as long as they pass security checks. One swedish LT(Edvard Selander Patrignani) got his name listed in the church at Karlberg Academy/officers school, the names of officers who have fallen on foreign ground have their names there, but thats when in service in the Swedish armed forces, and not the armed forces of another country, but I thought it was a nice guesture. He passed away in the east, in Donbas, together with 2 americans and a canadian, they died together.

Would't hurt, but it would be a bit too diplomatically sensetive would be my guess, they do get a lot of support through volunteer networks like the one showed in this video though, basically everything except for weapons can be supplied, e.g various optics, NVGs, vehicles, drones, tactical med supplies etc etc... this is common and normal. These kind of networks exist in most(all?) european countries.

Its so important that people with the right skills come and help Ukraine. From soldiers to medical personnel and many more specialists. One thing that makes it a lot harder for people to come to Ukraine is the economic side. Maybe you still have costs in your home country or even in Ukraine there is a lot of things that cost money and salaries are low or non existing.
Especially compared to what people in this documentary would have earned if they stayed in Denmark or Norway. That really shows they are not just people doing it for money. But I wished there was some way the government could cover some of the cost they have at home at least.

As far as i know they do get paid the same wage as a regular Ukrainian soldier, but the pay disparity between Denmark and Ukraine is sadly so large that it's about the same as being paid nothing, it's certainly pays for nothing, but it is something.
Also, Putin has been pretty clear what his vision is over time, going back to the mid 2000s, especially after the invasion of Georgia in 2008. He wants to shift the balance of the world back to how it was before WW2. Where might makes right and he wants that because that's evidently the only way Russia as a state can continue to exist in his opinion. Think about the Spanish and Portuguese dividing the world between them in the 1600s, that's the power dynamic of the world Putin wants, that's what he meant when he said the greatest geopolitical tragedy of the 20th century was the dissolution of the Soviet Union, because with that came a world where you could no longer violently subjugate people without most of the rest of the world making a stink about it and tying to ruin your economy with sanctions, certainly a world where Russia as a country was in no actual position to tell anyone what to do anymore, and he doesn't like that.
He slowly eroded all the civil institutions of Russia and now he wants to erode the civil institutions of the world. If anything, in some weird way, NATO crushing Russia is exactly what he wants He wants everyone to abandon the pretense that there are some sort of rules of engagement or diplomacy. He wants a world where you can kill to get what you want.
