      Seriously, my lord. As a social worker, there is minimal evidence punishment works when encouraging someone to engage in a behavior, and it isn't ever recommended due to reinforcement of healthy behavior having high efficacy where punishments do not. The daughter was working through her issues in an honest manner which isn't easy to do (she wouldn't ask to keep going if she didn't find it beneficial). Basically saying "I'll take away the resource that's been successfully working with you as a person to get through these obstacles in your life as to to improve other aspects of your life if I don't see an immediate increase in those aspects." And while it was mentioned in the video, if you go "Grades haven't improved, me only see spawn eating again and talking to people, me punish" you'd probably score lower marks than your daughter considering that level of critical thinking.

      The mom and daughter are a**holes. That’s gross and trashy. No matter if you live with men or not I live alone and dispose of my sanitary products discreetly because it is gross. Being gross and just throwing used period products in the trash has nothing to do with women’s health. Or just be an adult and just put your used period napkins into a sanitary bag. For one I live with two sister and my brother's girl friend live with us. Your blood reeks and it's disgusting. Either find a different place to dispose them or just be a grown up and use a sanitary bag. He even asked. Because he could have been even worse and gave her the ultimatums of do it or move out, and wifey didn't like that then rethinking the marriage should be in the cards. Because he asked and didn't order it.

      @@WaltonReimer his justification of "my sons haven't been around women and it makes them uncomfortable." isn't a justifiable reason to act like this is strictly her problem. there is an easy way to find a compromise of "please wrap it in toilet paper, but i will also talk to my son's about how this is normal and not something they should be uncomfortable with." everyone in this situation needs to act more mature.
      not to mention considering he's the one who made the post, it's very easy for him to edit what he said to make him seem more reasonable and her seem like a major asshole. i cannot imagine someone having such a vitriolic response to just being asked to wrap period products up so the blood isn't visible, so it seems there's more he said that he didn't include. it creates implicit bias. (also, as a woman myself, someone with a sister and a mother, and someone who works in a small business where we equally share responsibilities for things like cleaning out bathroom trash cans for women's sanitary products, it really doesn't reek. if the smell is strong enough to "reek," someone needs to be taking out the trash more often.)
      also edit: someone in another separate comment said "So fun fact the "secret period"/the skid marking sons actually had a really good edit and update where him and his son's learned and grew and accepted that they were being assholes and are now know more about female health." so to me, considering they *accepted* that they were being assholes, he was not fully honest about how the situation went down, and resolved it amicably because they were not in the right. so... yeah idk i feel like that's pretty revealing about the whole situation.

    The education system places WAY too much emphasis on grades and numbers. It’s never a strive to learn, it’s always just trying to get the best scores possible and not actually retain any information and that is DIRECTLY CONTRADICTORY to what school should be about

    The “p*rn aunt” story is quite sad. To be a teenager is to misplace your anger. I hope that the mother has kept trying to get through to her daughter about this topic. That her aunt isn’t the one to be mad at, it’s the kids bullying her and weaponizing her aunt’s career against her. Reminds me of a kid I knew in school who got bullied a bit because his dad was a garbage man. The ridiculing died down by high school, but that must have been rough for that kid, a family member’s job negatively affecting you at school.
    The p*rn thing is so much easier to weaponize and a whole lot more damaging on many levels, I hope the daughter comes to terms with it soon.

      I mean she def shouldn’t have called anyone names or been so mean to people but they can’t force her to speak to her aunt or to hang out with her. It’s completely understandable that she wouldn’t want to look at her aunt ever again. I mean if I was sent a video of my aunt doing the stuff they do in “Adult Films” I’d prob bleach my eyes before ever looking at or talking to my aunt again. That’s horrifying seriously. And traumatizing tbh. I feel bad for everyone in that situation tbh. It’s probably pretty rough for the whole family tbh.

      @Eucis93 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don’t understand why people are having more compassion for the aunt rather than the teenager in that story. From the info in their post they never straight up asked how the teenager felt, why they hadn’t told her before, or asked what the bullies were saying/doing. Like I’m pretty sure her classmates are not just saying ”ur aunts a hoe”, they’re probably constantly sending photos and videos of her aunts p*rn to her and the rest of the school. And it should also be considered that she didn’t know the aunts job before the facebook comment, and that we don’t know the type of p*rn the aunt does. Personally I wouldn’t want to see my aunt in any type of p*rn, absolutely not when I was fucking 14 y/o. To top it all off her mom then takes her internet away for 3 months ”bEcAuSe ShE sAiD bAd WoRdS” and preach to her about sexism and treating sex workers with respect. Sex workers deserve respect, but the feelings of the adult star is not the issue at hand in this story lmao, it’s an issue of bullying and, IMO, an issue of parents caring more about the aunt than their kid being bullied.
      I was bullied for 11 years straight so the fact that people (including her own family) are more concerned about the aunts feelings than what the teenager has possibly gone through is making my blood boil. Maybe they should be asking the kid what she’s going through rather than trying have a PSA at her school about sexism online to make it even worse for her 🤦‍♀️

      Agreed also the fact he aske sher to FLUSH them got me incredibly upset. The inherent nature of them is to absorb liquid so they end up clogging toilets so the only safe disposal of the is the trashcan. I think instead of telling her it was her responsibility to hide it he should of gotten a lidded trash can or explained to his sons how it was natural and they need to deal with it.

      Yeah I see it as you do. If someone’s sons/kids are uncomfortable seeing a period product they’re to blame for not educating their children.
      If you have the same reaction to a bloody band aid or blood in general that’s obviously okay, but let’s be honest we all know it’s not about the blood but where it comes from in this story!

In an update the guy goes on to explain that the he and his son who complained we’re explaining to by the wife and sister why they were being ridiculous and in the wrong and they understood and accepted it. The girls even made a fun interactive power point about basic women’s health for everyone in the house so everyone even had a fun time in the end

    I liked this, but I wish we got a bit more of y'all talking about it. The percentage of y'all reading the posts to talking about them seemed a bit too tilted toward the former, making it feel like it wouldn't have been too different of an experience if I had just gone and read the posts myself. I loved hearing y'all's takes and jokes, so I really wish we had more of it.

    I just found the post about the Aunt, the daughter got every bit of right of being mad, as the very first comment states: She didn't sign up for it, she's 14, imagine what the other kids have said to her and how much psychological damage that do/can do, punishing her for being mad at her Aunt which only (or mostly) get hurt by her nieces rejection. Her parents could've prevented it.

    Raising your kids to behave in a responsible hygienic way can be done compassionately by simply explaining that "When you have a spouse / S.O. one day, this is considerate." Then it makes it relevant to THEIR lives in their future. Both parents should have handled it like this.

      I agree so much, WTF is a 17 year old child doing on tinder. A 17 year old going on a date with a 22 year old so already so scary thats 5 year if they aren't lying about there age and making it a few years younger than they are. Teens don't learn from words they learn from experience and actions. For her own safety i'm glad she had that happen even if it was a really bad experience but its better to have a bad experience with your family than a Stanger at their house.

    Ring Return. Important lesson I learned from How I Met Your Mother: "Never invite Exes to a wedding."

  • @ThreeGoddesses
    @ThreeGoddesses 2 ปีที่แล้ว +77

    Paying for TWO weddings AND a bride price might be a bit much to consider financially.
    Its rude of him to say its backwards, especially considering the traditional culture aspects but he is right, dowry's are very much antifeminist and put monetary value on women.
    Its extremely manipulative of her, however, to hold their wedding over him because he doesnt want to pay a price as it goes against his beliefs. Its emotional blackmail, do what I want or we cant be together.
    If you actually loved each other, you would discuss how and why each other doesnt or does want this in their wedding situation, not stomp your feet and hold your ground.
    Because the important bit ISNT the tradition, or the cultures involved, its how you feel about each other and if you can just... not marry a man because he isnt willing to "buy" you (or the right to MARRY you) from your family, maybe you just arent meant to be.
    Relationships are communication and compromise and if a lack of compromise threatens the relationship, its really not there at all.

      I completely agree especially when the average bride price is $5,000 up to $30,000..even if the "symbolic" amount was less than that, it's still a huge amount of money to pay.

    • @sid0946
      @sid0946 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it would be completely different if her finance was not white. I think the problem here, at least from my view, is that the cultural practice is literally completely fine and there's nothing wrong with it as long as the woman is consenting, just for the love of God do not involve white people in it; because it turns it into a COMPLETELY different symbolism. I don't know what it symbolizes in her culture, but in my culture, a white man handing over money for marriage to a Black woman symbolizes slavery and complete disregard for human rights.

    The therapy one is definitely the worst. I think the runner up is the dude saying his gf shouldn't cry during their arguments. I legit dated someone like that. He was usually affectionate but if we ever argued and I started crying, he'd act like I was just guilting him and would refuse to talk to me until I calmed down??? I didn't even realize how messed up that was at the time. So glad that relationship didn't last.

  • @arielseescoral2607

    Honestly… I’m concerned how many people agree that the sister should’ve been embarrassed so she wouldn’t do it again. She’s a teenager, she makes mistakes, she doesn’t deserve to be catfished by her brother, laughed about by her brother’s friends, and then publicly humiliated by her brother and father at a restaurant. The brother could’ve just told his parents she was on tinder and they could’ve had a family conversation. There are boundaries you shouldn’t cross with family, like pretending to be a hot guy online interested in taking you out (WHEN ITS UR BROTHER!!!) I feel for her and I don’t know how that will effect their relationship in the future, but I wouldn’t want to hang around.
