    My favorite episode of a TV show ever. This is what taught me what "transgender" even was and gave me a name for the way I felt. I'd thought I was alone and doomed to be unhappy until I saw this episode many years ago.
    For 2003 especially, this was such an empathetic portrayal of the transgender condition, at a time when such issues were completely unheard of for most people. That took so much courage and I'll always be grateful they did it.

    Sad episode. Hopefully it will change the way people think. The sad thing is that this was probably not based on a true story, but on many true stories.

    The scene where Stabler revealed to Eddie the truth about Cheryl made my heart drop. I can't even begin to imagine being either one of them (Cheryl or Eddie) at that point. This is one of the best SVU episodes

    this episode breaks my heart and reminds me of how cruel people are and how screwed up the justice system is! I hope this enlightens people and helps them realize how important it is that we are not so quick to judge but that we should be quick to love.

    I never have been very sympathetic on the transgender issue. It certainly opened my eyes. Nevertheless, I can't stand it when a parent's love would be that conditional. Very good episode.

    Katherine is an amazing actress and i think if Hilary Swank wasn't chosen for Brandon Teena, which was a terrific portrayal, Kate would have still shown great talent and passion. She really seems to know exactly how to draw the utmost empathy and attachment from her audience.

    Thanks for posting this great video! :D I wish more people were so understanding and open-minded.
    I find this episode almost unbearable to watch. :( What happened to her was just terrible and really makes me very nervous about the justice system. (hope I never have to go to court for any reason... scary :s)
    But she is a wonderful actress! I'd love to see more of her work.

    Nope shes a girl, and always has been, I'm pretty sure of that ae. Although the first episode of the L Word i saw was a season 2 episdoe after she'd been beaten up, and had glasses on and I didn't know if it was a boy or girl, but yea Kate's a girl, always was.

      But it did deal with reality though. Sad episode for sure but it was a good one at the same time because it showed what can happen to trans people.

    I knew she would get beat up in jail. In Portland, Oregon, they segregate transgender inmates for their protection.

    @MissSiul yes it does..... sometimes, sexuality is not determined by your partners gender in their inner most sole, it's determined by their external appearance, so whether it's gay is determined by how far along they are and how convincing they look I'd say
    in this case the moment he found out about her penis, he was either gay or he was going to brake it up
    he is a victim, I'd say she violated him sexually by keeping information from him that if he had he would not have had sex with her

      Why isn't there a law against transgenders lying about the sex they were born as, being tricked into having sex with a man *IS BASICALLY RAPE*, scary times we live in.

    • @BlakeWolfGaming
      @BlakeWolfGaming 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be a law agains men who say they'll stay with their girlfriend after they've had sex with them and knocked them up and just run off (being a dead beat person and father)
      There should be a law against women who lie about being on the pill but they aren't.
      There should be a law for many things. People with STDs HAVE to tell their partner that they have it or they go to jail for man slaughter, but some people with STDs don't do it.
      It's not rape if you have sex with someone who won't tell you their gender by the way, rape if forcing SEXUAL ACTIONS into someone WHO IS NOT WILLING to have sex with you. (Might want to be updated on that definition by the way it will help you in the near future)

    • @NicaRox15
      @NicaRox15 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah and guess what; a person's gender/sex can MOST CERTAINLY influence a partner's willingness to have a sexual encounter. It IS rape if the partner doesn't know. Go to hell.

    • @JackMadness91
      @JackMadness91 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blake wolf to use your own form of reasoning: "rape is forcing sexual actions on someone unwilling." Heterosexual males wish to copulate with heterosexual females. A male turned female is not biologically female. Only in appearance are they feminine. So therefor showing a false image in order to "trick" straight men. Now the straight males believe they are going to have intercourse with their desired sex/gender preference. Therefor "willing" to have sex. And by finding out that they have indeed been lied to, it is under said notion that they were very "unwilling" to have sex with that partner. They were led into "having sex with someone unwillingly" and with that logic it is rape.
