For doing comparison videos on GT7, it helps to create a saved replay, then whatever you load it on, all the conditions, effects and cars are identical. For the more detailed comparisons make use of the free walk option of photo mode and try and match your footage up as best you can. (Albeit, you're right, you can't get the VR view outside of the original gameplay recording, but this is a good way to capture the flat view comparisons).

It's a big improve in some things, specially in VR. Cockpit ligths effects, reflections, and sharpness are now WAY BETTER. BUT there are few things that looks worse after the patch. Maybe is because the image sharpness, but you can see more edges and worse anti-aliasing now, and pixelated particles (smoke, spray, etc). BUT The thing I hate is that carpaint and materials effects looks now much more plain depending on the light. Sun/lights glare is now totally plain, at least over metallic/pearl paints. You can see this efect especially in the tunels at night. The effect the light produce on the paint, and how plain the colors look now. There are other details here and there like darker image in some tracks/situations also.
I watched many PS5 Pro clips from GT7 yesterday and I'm surprised by how much of the game is ray traced. It's not just the cars. It's also the roads, walls, buildings, maybe every surface in the game. Even without ray tracing every surface in the game is already reflective to some extent, like all the tarmac on every track in the game. This is realistic, as even the most rough surface in life reflects light to some extent. This is why the visual impact of the ray tracing is greater than expected. The game was already doing an excellent job approximating the effect of ray tracing through simpler means. But with the real thing done in real time, it subtly makes the whole scene look more cohesive and correct, at any time of day. Because the reflective properties are always active, even at day and in the dry. But like I said, the game already simulates these effects and renders materials better than any other game even without ray tracing, so I'm not surprised if you'll happily play in VR without ray tracing instead.
I wonder if in VR, is the vision frame same as we see in video or you see more around when you constantly look forward. I mean in video when you look forward you need to turn your head to see the mirrors. With VR is it already there or the frame is still limited?
Well, this is one of the best comparions for GT7 - thanks man! Also in night races on PS5 in some places shadow cast from all cars headlights, and in some places no any single shadow. On PS5 Pro - same?
I think this game, FFVII Rebirth and Stellar Blade are my biggest reasons to get this console. I love how the new reflections look in the PS5 Pro, however, I'm still not willing to support a 700 dollar console without a disc drive. Also, some games have problems in the PRO, such as Silent Hill 2. I think I'll wait for the PS6, or if the PS5 Pro gets a disc version with a discount maybe I'll get it.
need help guys: on PS5 pro ray tracing enabled and PSSR as well. with 120hz input looks a lot crispier even though doesn’t have car reflection. but with it off it has car reflections but looks grainy im I missing something

It's still incredibly clear on base PS5. If you actually set it up and get it aligned right before using it, it's really clear. Not saying the Pro doesn't make it better, but I think some people are downplaying how well the base PS5 PSVR2 looks in GT7. It's one of the best looking games in VR in my opinion and is still very clear.

If VR pretty is so great then why have they not added to the UI in the car to know the drivers, car intervals and pit stops with this update??? This is what needs to be fixed. This would have been the perfect time to do this with the better graphics. I race in VR too and ever since the psvr2 was released they have done absolutely nothing to improve it! Graphics mean nothing right now.
ACE needs to deliver a good VR experience. No PC racing game has fully optimized, smooth VR performance in the genre, and it’s badly needed. I love ACC and AMS2, but their VR implementation is just so poor.

To be fair, i got a computer with a GPU that cost 300%+ more then a PS5 pro and its a nvidia GPU. I usually run with 0 raytracing because its to demanding and gives very little value for the performance it eats from your system. There is, already been confirmed by John at digital foundry. And we should see a video about it soon, you see many people claiming differences, if their was nothing to it, there would be just one or two people behind it but thats clearly not the case
The Pro is obviously great because its upgraded hardware allows GT7 to have full RT on gameplay. But it costs more than the Base and Slim PS5s and it does not have a Disc Drive that you’d have to buy it separately. It’d be a funny thing to call the PS5 Pro a “Pro Digital Edition”. I know, Sony should’ve provided a Disc version for the PS5 Pro so there won’t be a need to buy a Disc drive separately. People would mostly recommend a normal PS5 just because it has a Disc drive, and is less expensive than the Pro. The normal PS5 hardware made GT7’s RT restrict to Menus, Replays, and Scapes only. Pretty sure that it wouldn’t sound too special as the full RT and higher Frame rates on gameplay is the only minor difference. Speaking of the game’s Ray Tracing, the only thing that holds me back is the Window glass materials do not reflect the car’s own Side mirrors when RT is enabled. That happened ever since GT7 released 2 years ago. Either way, the game looks incredible with or without RT. Whatever is your preference which console version you want, just take your pick and enjoy. I don’t want to take others’ enjoyment away. Or if you have a base PS4, PS4 Slim, it PS4 Pro, it’s fine too. 🙂
funny how you praise this game for just adding ray tracing meanwhile forza already had all of that since launch💀 on top of that forza got RT global ilumination on PC😂 game looks light years better than what GT7 can manage
Forza has poor lighting and graphics. It's relatively easy to add ray tracing (RT) to a game that looks like it's from the Xbox 360 era. Why don’t you understand that it’s much more demanding for GT7, given its high-quality tracks and cars?
Sure, being on PC looks slightly better than on Series X, but the cars still look like plastic toys. There is no photo realism in FM, even on high end PC's. It looks cartoonish. The grass density doesn't increase just because it is on PC either. It still looks flat or smooth, making the surfaces on the track look like there is no depth, creating this Sega Dramcast looking surface textures to imitate "grass."
Sony stated the base PS5 has quality/fidelity mode with compromised frame rate but with PS5 pro you have the fidelity mode and performance mode combined. So when people are comparing PS5 FM vs PS5pro Pro mode they're going to look the same only that the pro has the better frame rate. So why are people trying to compare apples to apples? So the only comparison is the frame rate ok and maybe the resolution but overall the only real improvement is the frame rate in quality mode features.
Not true. Some games are like that while others have added on more graphical enhancements in their quality modes on Pro. Ray tracing during racing in GT7 is only on the PRO. Dead rising also has ray traced reflections on pro that are not on ps5.
WTF Polyphony..a massive downgrade to the non-VR mode in visuals when using PSSR in the Pro... everything becomes aliased, shimmering and blurry compared to the old version on base PS5 which actually looks better. Ni wonder it wasn't available when the Pro launched because it would of negatively impacted launch sales and preorders had we known about this
@MisterReen there's a clear hit to visual quality when using ray-tracing or PSSR. I've been playing it on my Pro and base PS5 back to back since the new update. The ray-tracing is barely noticeable during gameplay and not worth the visual downgrade elsewhere. It looks good in photo mode when your not actually moving or playing but I didn't buy a $700 console to take pictures
That's also the reason the ones claiming PSSR will be game changer for VR should get knowledge before claiming things. PSSR will be worse thing to happen to VR
Its crazy the over this gets for 20 fps on back ground stuff and an the fact that these are small details you wont ever see while you are racing 😂😂. It doesnt make a whole lot of difference inplay forza 5 on pc it looks good i would never buy a whole new laptop to see minor details i have to freeze an stare at the screen for an hour to find the differences 😂😂. Especially in a racing game thats the last thing ill be paying attention to. Sorry bro you did waste your money if you bought the pro for this 😂 this is literally a settrong you can just turn on in a pc or just turn textures up you should had just started an had that
Jesus. These type of comments come from people with only one, simple mindset. It's ridiculous. There is actually a huge difference with ray tracing turned on that I saw in other videos driving at night underneath lights. Everything lights up inside the car more accurately. In some occasions, the PS5 has almost no light inside and the Pro has all the appropriate lights flashing o er the dash. All things you do notice while racing. If VR is that much improved, then for people who race in VR like me, it might push me to that edge to get the Pro. VR already looked incredible, clear, and smooth on the base PS5 as it is. Not saying it is worth the price though. Just saying, how people spend their money is on them. I can easily throw away money, and it won't hurt me at all if I got the Pro. Just to throw this out there. Even the base PS5 can do 4K with 90-120FPS. Just saying. And about your last commentl, he does have a PC. If this was on PC, I'm sure he'd have it. He does have FM on PC.

It’s probably due to the PSSR upscaler that there’s some obvious artifacting now
Why is there no raytracing in VR? Did you have it turned off? I thought the pro does support ray tracing in VR.
When I'm racing i don't even notice the scenery, my focus is the track not the lighting on the car.
Well, this is one of the best comparions for GT7 - thanks man!
Also in night races on PS5 in some places shadow cast from all cars headlights, and in some places no any single shadow. On PS5 Pro - same?
So in VR reprojection is gone but resolution stays the same?
It looks like the ground's moving when you spin the car
I think this game, FFVII Rebirth and Stellar Blade are my biggest reasons to get this console. I love how the new reflections look in the PS5 Pro, however, I'm still not willing to support a 700 dollar console without a disc drive. Also, some games have problems in the PRO, such as Silent Hill 2.
I think I'll wait for the PS6, or if the PS5 Pro gets a disc version with a discount maybe I'll get it.
That's strange when I play in the raytracing mode with PSSR activated, the image quality is pretty bad! Lots of aliasing, grainy....
Any other differences apart from resolution/lighting?
need help guys: on PS5 pro ray tracing enabled and PSSR as well.
with 120hz input looks a lot crispier even though doesn’t have car reflection. but with it off it has car reflections but looks grainy im I missing something
I didn’t know Keith Lemon played PS5
Can you check out the crew motorfest for ps5 pro? I heard that game has differences from the base version
1200 for just the ps5 in canada and then about 800 canadian for psvr2 which 2k canadian is like 1500 quid
Guys is it worth buying VR on a non pro Ps5?
100% worth it for me.
Did they fix the vr side and rear view reflections
Nope, it's pretty much exactly the same
1:19 it looks real 😭
Should checkout a night race when the brakes heat up and it looks really cool.
I know it will take some time but PS5 vs PS5P side by side PSVR2 comparison would go a long way in helping me decide to upgrade or not.... pleeeeeeease!?!?!?! 😂
I heard there were some issues with blurring on base ps5 for VR, how is it now?
Massively fixed.
Fixed!! No more reprojection and if any so slight! Love it.
@@joesciviche’s not talking about lens sweetspot but ghosting from reprojection. Completely fixed on the pro in the new positional reprojection mode you turn on in the menu. No ghosting around bends or looking out windows, everything feels more solid and real now.
@@SpacehotelMusic I know that is what he is talking about. I'm just saying the game is still really clear
Is it ok to use VR headset if your using glasses? Cant se how it will be comfortable
I use it with glasses and it works fine. You don’t even notice you have glasses on.
No, it's not. You can buy prescription lenses to put over the lenses in the headset. Extra cost, yes, but it works.
@@Evilkingus Agreed. I wore glasses when I first got mu VR2, and ended up with scratches on the lenses of the headset. I was not the only one. Sony repaired FoC for me, luckily, and I ordered a set of VR Optician prescription lenses. No more worries.

Thanx for this Video!
instead of saying fuck over and over you couldve explained if mirrors, lod and draw distance are better now in vr2.
Hes not really a "tech" guy. More of a gamer. So for him, he speaks based on his impression thats why he says "it looks better, sharper, smoother". If you want a more technical analysis, just wait couple of days for digital foundry.
Doesnt kook good with the shimmering with rt and pssr. Just compare the cars in the gt auto garage. I switch ossr off with rt
its like change 6 to half a dozen
If VR pretty is so great then why have they not added to the UI in the car to know the drivers, car intervals and pit stops with this update??? This is what needs to be fixed. This would have been the perfect time to do this with the better graphics. I race in VR too and ever since the psvr2 was released they have done absolutely nothing to improve it! Graphics mean nothing right now.
Too bad they canceled any other VR games. A lot to spend for one game. AC Evo better be VR or it’s a total failure
ACE needs to deliver a good VR experience. No PC racing game has fully optimized, smooth VR performance in the genre, and it’s badly needed. I love ACC and AMS2, but their VR implementation is just so poor.
So if I want gt7 with ray tracing I have to spend 600 or 700£ when I've already spent 500£ to purchase a PS5 that already has a ray tracing technology incorporated and it was promised to deliver new generation games with ray tracing technology!!!!
To be fair, i got a computer with a GPU that cost 300%+ more then a PS5 pro and its a nvidia GPU. I usually run with 0 raytracing because its to demanding and gives very little value for the performance it eats from your system. The most demanding games on PC like black myth wukong, Alan wake 2 and some more cant even run everything on max with raytracing at 4k with hogh fps and that card is like 2000€ in my country

@@Wyn3e Of course in 1440p, because we're still talking about an Rtx 4060ti and not an Rtx 4090 and a price of just $418!!!! I run Cyberpunk 2077 with the highest graphics settings, and patch tracing is also activated. The game only runs at 58-75 fps, but that's because of the mods I use. Now you can imagine how other games perform on my PC, because they don't need as many resources as Cyberpunk 2077! As a reminder, my complete PC only cost $973 and is used on a 55 inch TV, which the graphics card also has to manage! And with the Pc you can not only play games like on a Ps5 Pro! So Ps5 Pro costs 699$ and that without drive and a stand and the Pc is then 273$ more expensive but with more power and application features, any smart person would then save a month more money and reach for the Pc. And yes, I can sit comfortably on the couch with a controller in my hand without having to sit stiffly at a PC table! I'll link you to my mod for Cyberpunk 2077 below, I got it from the site so you can get an idea of what the Pc can do with the right hardware and software configuration. Whether you believe me or not is up to you, but since you have been using Pc for years you should know what is possible if you buy and combine the Pc components correctly. th-cam.com/video/90oVkISQot8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oMh0u_1Xjh7KjGCS

@@mountaindrew5219but some ppl commenting that game got worse on pro
RTGI in gameplay and no real mirrors 😂😂😂
If you play with a microscope, you can only see the difference... I can't see a big difference, it was the biggest nonsense Sony has ever done...😂
For that price it is not worth it
Definitely not worth it at all
Yup they just need to add Tescos in scapes and a few trollies and booom realism!!! XDDD
There is no tesco in Japan lol
A sony é covarde lancou uma att pra piorar a versão de ps5 slim pra ter alguma diferença do ps5 protótipo kkkk
funny how you praise this game for just adding ray tracing meanwhile forza already had all of that since launch💀 on top of that forza got RT global ilumination on PC😂 game looks light years better than what GT7 can manage
Can you get a more Northern ey up accent than this!? 😂
Pity the game as far as single player goes is 20yo. No qualifying…

HAHA YOU AND OTHERS got screwed by Sony. U bought a ps5pro, and in 2 years' time, the ps6 comes out, It is official, and you wasted $700
Well, even GT7 on the base PS5 has a better framerate than FM. GT7 on the base PS5 is still capable of 4K 90-120 FPS.
WTF Polyphony..a massive downgrade to the non-VR mode in visuals when using PSSR in the Pro...
everything becomes aliased, shimmering and blurry compared to the old version on base PS5 which actually looks better.
Ni wonder it wasn't available when the Pro launched because it would of negatively impacted launch sales and preorders had we known about this
That’s not true
@MisterReen there's a clear hit to visual quality when using ray-tracing or PSSR.
I've been playing it on my Pro and base PS5 back to back since the new update.
The ray-tracing is barely noticeable during gameplay and not worth the visual downgrade elsewhere.
It looks good in photo mode when your not actually moving or playing but I didn't buy a $700 console to take pictures
That's also the reason the ones claiming PSSR will be game changer for VR should get knowledge before claiming things.
PSSR will be worse thing to happen to VR
I agree! It makes the game hotter!
Looks be-er
bought the PS5 Pro and have no regrets.
Lmao who’s gonna spend all that money for just a few new reflections that you can only appreciate when the car is not moving 😹😹😹
800€ no thanks

Stick camera inside the headset, and record through the lenses. You keep saying things you cannot defend, only a justification of your buying.
Stop crying goofy. No one cares about your pathetic PC.
I wouldn't trust side by side comparison anymore, the devil lies in the detail!
