I am so glad you gave the Sentro another try. I got the Sentro after seeing your prior review. At the time Addi's were not available. What I did was turned the handle on the machine prior to even putting on the legs. It ran smoothly, so I set it up and gave it a try. Hundred's of hats later, I am still happy with it. I did get an Addi eventually, but tend to go to my Sentro due to the extra needles! Note, my new Addi came with a mechanical counter, not an eletronic one.
Great review Ms. Margaret. I have the Sentro and have learned that if I put my yarn (hobby lobby "I love this yarn") in the 1st and 3rd hole of the tensioner at the same time..I don't get any messed up stitches 😊💖👌
I just got a Sentro last week, to try it out and compare with my Addi. In assembling it, I found that if you rotate the suction cups while pressing them into the foot, they go in more easily. After assembly, I knit all the sample yarn provided and realized they give you the chance to try out different weights in relation to the tensioner. I found that my machine prefers the tensioner to hand held tension.
I got mine on eBay this past week for under $40 from a vendor with a US warehouse, so it didn’t have to come from China. I got lucky because it works out of the box, so I have no immediate warranty issues.
Technically, I think they're all manufactured in China but some people have US warehouses. While it's not a "made in the USA" product, having a US warehouse usually means better customer service since they've made that extra investment in their company. 🙌
Well I'm just not sure what to say except for welcome to the club! I love my Addi, but I also love my Sentro! I'm really glad that I encouraged you to get another one and try it again. I really do recommend using that tensioner. Being an Addi freak, I really am used to tensioning myself, but the Sentro works so much better with the tensioner right from the beginning (after 2nd row) so all of your tension is the same throughout. I'm so glad you got this one!!! Good job, my friend, and thank you for all you do. God-bless you!
Just ordered my Sentro knitting machine, using your discount code. Free shipping to me in Canada as well. So excited to start. I'm a crocheter (is that even a word), total newbie to knitting and knitting machines. Thank you for you extremely informative videos/reviews. Looking forward to watching more content on your channel.
Margaret I wanted to thank you for doing the second review on the sentro after I watched it I decided to order one. The first two times I worked on it was a nightmare I kept a loose tension like the directions said and pull lots of yarn out and kept it all in a nice loose pile I had one dropped Stitch right after the other all kinds of t u c t e d stitches. I had ripped it all back twice the only yarn I had was super saver I decided to watch your video again and seen that you had some of the same problem not near as bad as mine and what you did was use a tighter tension you went into the smallest one so I decided to give it a try this morning and it was like I had a different machine I made the entire hat I didn't have any dropped stitches or t u c k stitches with the Super Saver it was amazing thank you so much for these videos
I'm so glad, Joyce! I have other tips in my "Beginner Tips" video and a relatively recent one about particularly difficult yarns in my Addi Playlist if you're interested: Addi Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLV9cndFtR5BVQrjZ7X1f0HRTV92kscJf2.html
I got a Sentro too and I discovered it had to be "broken in". The first project dropped a lot stiches. Once it was broken in it did just fine. Just as smooth as the Addi King.
Well... my second one is fine but the experience isn't as smooth as my Addi King. Do I NEED it to be as smooth as the Addi? Nope. It's kind of like choosing between a Toyota and a Bentley. Both will get you from point A to point B. 👍
Yay, I'm so glad you've revisited the sentro. I have a sentro 48 needle and I love it. I was lucky and received a good quality machine the first time. So far my machine knits most worsted yarns well. I have heard that sometimes the sentro counter does occasionally not work properly, mine works still.
I have the sentro, its actually the first machine that I got. Mine came from amazon. Right out of the box, I used the yarn that came with it and it worked perfectly. I always use the tensioner and it works well. I have used different yarn in it in the past and here is my experience. Dk yarns work best, red heart super saver would not work, caron simply soft worked very well. I have had mine now for 2 years and now nothing will run on it except one premier yarn. And then it takes me 3 tries before it finally acquiesces and decides to work. Overall though, it is worth the money. I have made many things on it. My main advice though, is to absolutely use the tensioner.
I ordered one. I also didn't care for the price increase but everything is going up. This is a Christmas present from my husband he just doesn't know it yet.
as far as 'my learning' about circular knitting machines you were the first one i attached myself to, an did i get the bug! BIGtime! my first KM was a sentro i'd had about two months i got too confident had forgotten i left the panel switch 'ON' position was casting on as if... well BONK! but right outta the box i had dropped stitches, my husband was going to send it back to AMAZON they didn't want it. within three days he had it apart , the counter switch was too skimpy for the job it was required to fulfil + he gave me the rundown on several other situations. but made it usable! i was off! Then i saw an ADDI on marketplace @ a reasonable price practically in my backyard i didn't have to wait long -within the month i was KNITTING AGAIN! hey i think some of the throwback from the $$entro helped him into position oh between you & him i'm still so happy. love your work & helpfulness Thank you!
I purchased the little pink one you have in the background and I purchased a generic of Sentro. What I did for the counter that sticks I sprayed a tiny bit of WD-40 and the counter is working perfect now. I also gave a little spray on the round turning wheel. I also squirted a little into needles. I wiped off access and made sure oil wasn't leaking out anywhere. I discovered the machine was working very well at this point. I think when China is assembling these machines they need to put some oil. I have watched people take the machine apart and have to fix stuff. That shouldn't be I would return machine for a new one. Amazon is very good in exchanging or returning. I do a lot of business on Amazon they are very helpful. I am still practicing stitching before I actually start a large project. I did make some hats. Now I'm almost ready for bigger projects like a sweater. These machines are not going to be perfect as if we knitted the item with our hands but the machine sure saves a lot of achy muscles.🌺
I have a Sentro. I have not done much knitting with it. I made 3 hats, a scarf and a lining for a bag I crocheted (to test the straight knitting of the machine. I have not had any problems with it - sounds like I have had the same experience as what you had with your 2nd machine. I must really try the Vanna's choice. Thanks for the tip.
Margaret I am blessed that you gave the Sentro machine another chance! I have learned to never hand tension with that machine but to trust the tensioner. The smaller diameter Yarns go in the small hole, the medium in the medium hole, and the larger in the large hole. Mine doesn't care much for Super Saver yarn. Something I would like you to look at and report on is that I think the gauge is a little bit bigger on it than on the Addi. I can make a hat on the Sentro and it will fit my very large head. The Weave also seems to be a little softer because of the wider gauge. I have a smaller Sentro where the knitting comes out the front of the machine. You might like to try that one. Again, Margaret, you have done a great job!
Re: gauge: according to my measurements, the needles are spaced EXACTLY the same on both machines but remember the gauge of the finished product depends on the combination of 1) the yarn type and 2) the tension applied. You can see in this video where my gauge got smaller when I applied more tension using the Premier Basix all in the same project on the same machine!
@@sheepishlysharing I never Thank you very much for answering. Maybe it's the tensioner. I always use it on the Sentro. It probably tensions looser than I do. Good call, Margaret! Either way, the hats get bigger and someone with a big head, like me, can wear the hats! LOL!
Thank you! I’ve joined your page only today, we live in a subtropical city of Brisbane, so we have short winters but busy grandkids who want the cool look “binnies “… you had excellent explanation here. As a sewer, I am only familiar with that area, very little knitting, but I’m looking forward to learning from this machine! Cheers, Marietta

I would love to show you what I'm making with my Sentro: Fingerless gloves, Snowmen, Christmas trees, Pumpkins, and of course hats and scarfs for the needy, and not so needy. I just bought the 22 inch Sentro last week, so now I can make even a wider range of knitted gifts. My counter immediately malfunctioned, so I bought an inexpensive digital counter that works well. I have had to experiment a lot to with tension and yarn brand, so for now, I'm sticking with 4 weight acrylic, "I Love This Yarn", from Hobby Lobby. I could go on and on, but,, I'm just going to say, I have missed you and hope you don't stay gone so long next time. I see Buzzy above his painting. haha
@@emiliebritton962 just knit a tube, fill it with Polyfill, and tie the tube in one or 2 places to make the head and body. Sew on buttons for eyes and the body. I crocheted an orange nose and embroidered a mouth, crocheted a little scarf. Just embellish it any way you like.
You CAN share, Judy! Link to the Facebook Group is in the description box! And yes... That's Buzzy's favorite perch hence the reason I put her portrait in that particular cubby! Ha!
I have the Addi small and large machines. I also have an off brand smaller knitting machine. All work well and I use them for my church group whenever hats are needed. However, I often feel I need the hats a little bigger. I decided to give the Sentro a chance taking advantage of the 10% off and free shipping. As usual, you do a fantastic job with reviews explaining where you might have trouble and great advice on what yarn to use. 👍
I may try this again. I have had mine for a while and was going to try opening it up and putting some silicone on the needles to see if that helps and a washer between the crank to help with the wobbling. I still may do this and if it works give my sister one and I'll keep one. I just got her and myself the afghan loom also.
I received both 48 and 22 Sentro machines . Finding the yarns that work best has been the key to success . The other thing that has made a big difference is to put it on a bucket so the tube isn't twisting. Oddly the 22 needle does fine with the twisting 🤷♀️ Eventually I will make a sturdy frame for it . I did have to return the 1st 22 model , the replacement works great . Always look forward to your videos 🤗
Talking about manufacturing inconsistencies…my sentro kept having issues at the same needle. I took it apart and saw the needle was completely different than the others. SURPRISE!!! Amazon let me return it after the 30 day period with a $10 restocking fee. The new one has been working wonderfully!
Thank you for your honest reviews and instructional videos. I did purchase the Sentro from Amazon and I guess I got a good one since it works well and is super quiet. My main reason for the purchase was to see if I liked using the machine before investing in an Addi.
I'm so glad you got a good one! I talk about the "testing the waters approach" in this video: Addi Express FAQs, Tips, Explanations! th-cam.com/video/Tq-67wstWoQ/w-d-xo.html Some people feel like you do and start with a cheaper machine while others feel like the lack of quality would inhibit their experience! Since you got a good Sentro, you may not even want an Addi now so keep that in mind, too!
I have the Jamit machine which is exactly the same as the Sentro. Although they come with suction cups, they don't really work. I had my husband cut plywood. He attached the machine with screws nuts and RUBBER washers coming up thru the bottom of the plywood into the holes where the suction cups go. He carefully tightened them as not to crack the plastic. He countersank the screw heads so it won't scratch my table. That kind of worked better. I added some C clamps that attach to the top of the plywood and the underside of my table. Now, nothing moves. I'm happy with the overall machine. I made a dust cover for it. Storing it on the plywood is a challenge, but I found a secure place. The machine loves the Red Heart yarns 4 weight. I tried to make my son a hat using Lion Brand 6 Bulky Wool. Nope, won't work. Find a yarn that works on your machine.
Glad you found a solution you like, Brenda! The suction cups work better on some surfaces than others. Ex: not so great on wood but excellent on marble or quartz countertops. It works very well on laminate, too, like the workbench I use for my machines. These machines are made for #3 or #4 yarns so I'm not surprised #6 bulky gave you a challenge! But even then, you'll run into #3 or #4 that your machine doesn't like. I have some tips and tricks in my playlist if you're interested: Addi Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLV9cndFtR5BVQrjZ7X1f0HRTV92kscJf2.html
I checked out the link you gave for the company that sent you the Sentro, and they've now raised their price to $64.99. I was going to purchase the machine at the $49.99 price but will not purchase it at $64.99. Amazon's price is a couple of dollars less, with free shipping. I am disappointed but realize that these things happen. However, this new review was excellent and I'm happy to see that the Sentro that you received is working so well. Thanks for all the tips you gave on tweaking possible issues that might arise when using various yarns. It's all "try it and see". Thanks, Margaret! It's wonderful to hear from you again!! 🙂❤️❤️. From Phoenix, AZ 🏜️🌄🌵
I just got me one ,because Addi was out of stock, hope in 8 weeks I will be getting my Addi .10 months is a long time to wait . Keep up the great job 👍. 🙏🙏🙏😇
Hi Margaret. Good to see you again! I got both my Addi machines after I watched your channel years ago. Great videos! I've had my 48-needle Sentro for over a year and I absolutely love it! I highly recommend the Sentro to friends don't want to spend the money on the Addi. I don't use the tensioner either and prefer to hold the yarn in my hand. Vanna's Choice is my favorite yarn as well for my machines. Hugs, Rochelle
Wow! That's a great price for the machine, I got mine for just over $110, it's initial price was $80 the rest is shipping and currency conversion. Cheers!
Hi Margaret! Nice to see you! Funny thing you posted this, as I just received my Sentro in the mail today! I have both the 22- and 46-pin Addis, but hats on the 46-pin are snug on some people. I thought I would try the Sentro. I haven’t unboxed it yet, but will get to it in the next couple of days. And I look forward to doing so. Thanks for your insight. Hope to see you back again soon. A side note … the newer Addi Kingsize machines (mine included) have a mechanical counter similar to the Sentro).
It's good to see you again. It's been a long time. It was nice to see your review but I still don't think I will ever get a machine for knitting. Don't stay gone so long.
As always, your reviews are spot on. I have a Sentro that is a bit catchy like your first one is. I kept it and have used it a bit. But I will get another one with the discount code. I also have my Addi, but want those two extra needles! Thanks for the thorough review!
@@sheepishlysharing It really does for adult hats, I find. Depending on the yarn and tension on the Addi, some hats were a bit tight even for me. So this will hopefully be fun!
Thanks for reviewing this again, Miss Margaret. While I most likely will not be buying a Sentro, I have wanted a sock machine since my first hand knitting attempt at socks. So I'll be saving my money for a Gerhardt(?), made in America. :)
Man! If I would have waited a week I could have used that coupon I just got mine in the mail and I paid significantly more for the same machine use that coupon y'all save you some money.
I find the tension guides are very helpful as I don't have consistent tension with my hands. I made a temporary tension guide till my Replacement sentro/jamit guides arrive. I plan get an addi king and the smaller professional so have tension guides coming for those. I have the cheap 4 leg version of the addi professional with the similar yarn guide to the addi and I'm letting my son fiddle with that one.
I just wanted to say that I did order the machine from the website you recommended. I got a DHL link that says that my package is sent to me from China. I was so hoping that it came from USA and the journey will be less bumpy for the machine. I am in Canada. I just wanted to say this. I am hoping it arrives in one piece 😅
Well, they told me their California warehouse sold out so it appears that yours will actually make a shorter trip because you're getting it direct. 🤷♀️
I buy my granddaughter a sentro 22 knitting machine n like to know if u have a video on it ?? Need this ASAP Thanks Rita Would appreciate it so I can help hep with it , I buy the same brand but 48 pins
Thanks but do u have any. Video on Sentro 22 pin or needles to help my granddaughter out how to star it run, everything, she 8 years old n live in Louisville Kentucky n me grandma liver-in Murray Kentucky. If I can help her it will be great! We bought it for Christmas for her and we had our Christmas party wet last night this weekend and I didn’t have time to to look or do anything so if I can get a video and watch it on myself I can FaceTime her and show her that way how to use it Thanks again Rita

I have 32 40 48 sentro and I use red heart in 48 no problem I believe it can be tensioner and yarn I have Loombot same also prym maxi use red heart works I also have electric jamit works fine red heart Also addi 22 46 work with various yarn
Hi Margaret! I really don't know anything about knitting machines so this was interesting! Will I purchase one? Probably not at this time but one day I might change my mind so this is helpful. I always appreciate your honesty on products. Thanks for sharing!
I'm new to the Sentro 48 Knitting Machine. Got the machine unpacked and put together. Started knitting and my yarn has been tiedafter about 6 rounds. What do I do here? Thank you fir your help.

Hello, GoodAfternoon Ms. Margarette, I recently bought The Jamit. do you know anything about this brand, I'm having a hard time getting it to catch on the first cranks?, i had to take mine apart and clean it. when i took it apart. it was so greased/ lubricated, i washed it with dawn and dried, i bought mine from marketplace...
Thanks so much for all your reviews. Your videos have helped me so much. Have you reviewed the new 24 needle machine? It has a handle in addition to the crank. I found it on Amazon for less than $30. It intrigued me because of the 24 needles
Thanks for the kind words, Geraldine! No, I haven't reviewed that smaller Sentro but I would say to go for it remembering that with the cheaper machines, there IS some inconsistent manufacturing so there's a risk you could get a bad one. Not all things on Amazon offer free returns so just make sure that seller does before you buy it!
I have a sentro I hav8got to use much I dropped it and broke 2 legs so now I'm looking for something O can set it down in and use without legs you can purchase more legs but they are 8 dollars a piece and then you have to pay shipping that would almost buy a new one I will figure out some way to use without legs thank you for sharing
I took the legs off my Addi because they began to wobble. I use C-clamps to attach it to a work bench which allows the work to drop into the hole as it gets longer. (I think I talk about it in my Beginner Tips and Tricks video. Addi Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLV9cndFtR5BVQrjZ7X1f0HRTV92kscJf2.html ) Another commenter mentions putting hers on a bucket which is another excellent idea!
I tried the Sentro 40 needle and decided I really needed the 48. What surprised me was the difference in finished gauge between the two. I used more yarn from the same skein and used the medium tension hole on both machines, but the finished gauge was much tighter on the 40 rather than the 48. Both machines worked flawlessly, and I didn't have any dropped stitches on either. Thoughts?
Everyone will have a different experience because each machine different. Some like Red Heart yarns, some don't. My machines like good quality yarns. If I feel the machine is fighting a yarn, I make a note because Sentro may not like it but Addi might.
Ah, Cynthia... you're singing my song! If I had a dollar for every time I've talked about this I'd be a rich woman! Ha! It's actually a combination of the machine, the yarn AND the user! User tension is a huge factor and sometimes its even the WAY the yarn is tensioned (the angle, using the yarn feeder or not, and how much one applies with the left hand. Believe it or not, even the cranking speed an play a part!

It's now showing $59.99 instead of $49.99...so my total with the discount code is $54 instead of $45...making the Amazon model cheaper by $9. That isn't a deal breaker for me, but might be for some. And the fact that they changed their price by $10 after they agreed to give your watchers a discount is kinda crappy of them!

As I've said before, my Sentro is a disappointment. I might look into ordering one from this company to try again. I wonder why Addi's machine has fewer needles? 48 needles on Sentro's seems to be so much more desirable.
Thank you for this video. It would have been interesting to find out how much measured difference those 2 extra needle makes in a actual knitted piece compared same yarn knitted with Addi....'cough'...just a thought for a future video (wink wink)
Oooo.... that would have been a great bargain for a chance to test it out BUT... you never know about the manufacturing inconsistencies. Was it a good one or a bad one? So no use kicking yourself!
Thank you can you post the companys contact information , so I may order from the company that provided you good customer service for the 2nd review sentro 48 needle sentro knitting machine ,

Ha! I'm so glad he's mechanically minded to help out! My husband is NOT! Have fun, Julie!

I see Buzzy above his painting. haha
I mean to say 22 needle Sentro
Judy, is there any chance you can share your snowman pattern/instructions?
Thanks for the kind words, Eloise!
Oddly the 22 needle does fine with the twisting 🤷♀️
Eventually I will make a sturdy frame for it .
I did have to return the 1st 22 model , the replacement works great .
Always look forward to your videos 🤗
Bucket is a great idea! I have one of those inexpensive workbenches from a hardware store that does the trick.
🙂❤️❤️. Thanks for the review....I was just considering buying one! Hope all is well with you and your family!!
Hugs,
Rochelle
They're fun little gadgets, aren't they, Rochelle?!
Thanks for reviews on this one. I have a very old one from years ago. I believe my boys used it more then I did. Looks so easy to use.
I got a great one this time, Mary Ellen! I'm enjoying it!
Wow! That's a great price for the machine, I got mine for just over $110, it's initial price was $80 the rest is shipping and currency conversion. Cheers!
I'm making pumpkins on my Addi big and small. I do like my sentro also.
I've seen some of those Addi-made pumpkins and they're adorable!
I just ordered my Sentro it will be here Saturday.
Have fun!
Ooo... It's fun to have options isn't it?! Have fun, Jenny!
I like the tension gauge of the Sentro/Jamit/Miaoke.
Got my sentro knitting from company you got yours works 👍
It's good to see you again. It's been a long time. It was nice to see your review but I still don't think I will ever get a machine for knitting. Don't stay gone so long.
As always, your reviews are spot on. I have a Sentro that is a bit catchy like your first one is. I kept it and have used it a bit. But I will get another one with the discount code. I also have my Addi, but want those two extra needles! Thanks for the thorough review!
Strangely those 2 extra needles DO make a difference!
@@sheepishlysharing It really does for adult hats, I find. Depending on the yarn and tension on the Addi, some hats were a bit tight even for me. So this will hopefully be fun!
Did you get a sentro from ttlifemall?
@@amandam3648 Not yet.
@@lissac67 ok thank you. I was thinking about it but haven't heard of them before.
Thanks for the review. My Addi has the analog counter on it. I specifically looked for a machine with it before I bought it.
Wonderful Review! I Subscribed and order Sentro Can't wait to try this Machine. Thank you!
Thank you! Have fun!
Got my sentro today love thanks programs
I just wanted to say that I did order the machine from the website you recommended. I got a DHL link that says that my package is sent to me from China. I was so hoping that it came from USA and the journey will be less bumpy for the machine. I am in Canada. I just wanted to say this. I am hoping it arrives in one piece 😅
Well, they told me their California warehouse sold out so it appears that yours will actually make a shorter trip because you're getting it direct. 🤷♀️
Looks like something I may purchase. Thanks for the updated review.
It's a fun little gadget, Allison!

You don’t need separate videos for a specific machine. The skill set for all circular knitting machines is the same. Start with that FAQ video to understand the basics about these machines then look in the Addi playlist to learn how to cast on and off; learn more beginner tips and choose some simple projects. Everything you need for success is in that playlist! Have fun!

I've never tried that brand but I suspect it's just another name for the Sentro.
Hi,
Do you have a source to purchase a genuine Sentro? It seems that all the machines on Amazon are some type of knock off.
Thanks

Bom dia, pode me dizer como se faz a manutenção da máquina , como se coloca o óleo, para funcionar melhor? Obrigada Edite
Thoughts?
Never heard of a different gauge outcome if all aspects are the same!
No I have the same space in mine, it is the way it was made….not sure why it is not a closer fit.
Thank you it was right where you said it was
Thanks for sharing more good information. Blessings
Just ordered mine.
Yes huge deferent with 40 and 48 needls

Recycled is fine.

Who knows what the engineers were thinking when they designed the machine? 🤔 48 is definitely preferable.
Thank you for this video. It would have been interesting to find out how much measured difference those 2 extra needle makes in a actual knitted piece compared same yarn knitted with Addi....'cough'...just a thought for a future video (wink wink)
