    Just a thing I have been doing for a while now when one sticking - add a small webbing loop to your quick link - about an inch in size. Carry a light wooden stick or walking cane about 5 ft longwith a fork on the end or pick one up once you get in the bush. Use it to set your tether up high before you even leave the ground. Leave it hanging in the loop while you climb and then keep using it to set your tether up high each move. that way you won't get slack in your line as you climb. Toss it clear when you are up. On trees with lots of limbs it wont work as well but then just use your spare tether and make small moves like normal. I am 65 next month and I don't bounce any more so I like this way!

      That's a good idea! That is what's nice about it. You can customize the way you go up a tree! Thanks!

      Like your setup but 8mm rope and a mad rock isn’t recommended. It’s out of spec even though it may work for you. God forbid something happens 1st thing is company is gonna say out of spec you shouldn’t have used it. GriGri is out of spec too. Only thing made currently is Sterling F4 device. As your rope is used over many climbs you may see what happens with it being out of spec. Other then that great video of how age isn’t hindering you from doin anything!!!

    Best thing I did in my sysyem which is identical to yours is get rid of quick link and using running bowline. That keeps from having to have a tender for the quick link. Rinning bowline is one of quickest and easist knots to tie and untie. About same amount of time it takes to open and close quick link.

    Great vid! A few quick questions. Are you using a buckle or ratchet on your ring of steps? Have you tried both? Also, I might have missed it but where are you out of ?

      I use a ratchet currently but have considered a buckle for noise reasons. If I take my time, I can cut down quite a bit on noise.
      And for the last question, I am from SW Indiana. Close to Washington. Thanks for watching!

    I’m completely a novice ordered my first set of Saddle Hunt and Gear but I did not like the difference in space between your steps and the stretch you have to make to get onto the platform the first thing I’ll do when I receive mine is make sure that my step distance is always equal thank you so much for the video

    What is the advantage of one sticking, is it just simply not having to carry more sticks, it seems to me this process would be far more difficult than using multiple sticks, not knocking it, I’m just curious?

    • @oldmanstickbowadventures
      @oldmanstickbowadventures  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes the advantage is only one vs multiple sticks which equals less weight. But it isn't everyone's preference for sure. Some guys I talk to don't like rappelling. So once again a personal choice! As far as effort goes, less effort overall with one sticking. If an old guy like me can do it...lol! It comes down to what you are comfortable with and most effective.

    does your terher try fall down when u take weight off caribenar thats attaching tether to tree ?

    • @oldmanstickbowadventures
      @oldmanstickbowadventures  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. I have a rubber wire tie that is connected to the back of the figure 9 knot that I use to come around and wrap around my tether on the outside of my quick link.

    Be sure and release the gear tie prior to descending.

    What happens if you drop the step during the transition? How do you get down?
